Many Black Americans tend to not want to know that it was their own people that sold them as slaves to the Euros, If they accepted fact, they couldn't "blame whitey" anymore.

Or still own the most slaves in the world?

Past evils America's leaders supported
1. Genocide of native Americans.
2. Slavery
3. Discrimination
4. Child labor
5. Segregation

Evils Americans deal with now...
1. Same sex marriage
2. Abortion
3. Many others

For the most part America survived and changed from the first list, no reason America can't survive and repent of the second list.

As to the first list: Yes and No. Had you said "some" American leaders, you would have been more correct. Just saying,

Slavery: Civil War

Discrimination: Civil Rights Act and some of our leaders were against discrimination from the beginning (BTW the Selma to Montgomery march included whites as well as blacks)

Child labor: Some of our leaders were never in favor of the child labor abuse otherwise there would not have been Legislation to correct it.

Segregation: See above comment concerning Child Labor.............
