it's typical of a stymied cultist to play word games.
You should say what you mean and mean what you say.

I would suggest that you not ask or demand that anyone else be "spot on" with the 'details' when you refuse to be and are not.

i mean what i said,
that the same phase of the moon is observed everywhere on earth at the same time any phase of the moon is observed.

and i also mean what i implied, that this is proof of a heliocentric, spheroidal cosmology, and that the prototypical cultic response will be to fall back on such things as petty semantic arguments & pretend there has never been anything definitive said debunking their positions.

i also am quite serious about the desirable nature of an olive garden and preferring coffee that has only been slightly mixed.

So why did you complain and commit ad hominem when Gary pointed out this statement supports Flat Earth?

As Gary pointed out, everyone on Earth seeing the same phase of the moon at the same time is evidence for Flat Earth, not Heliocentricity. But well done for being honest about your observation.

Au contraire. Common amongst cultists is the practice of ad hominem rather than debating on the merits of an argument, and I see you have mastered this art. Do your fellow cultists refer to you as "High priest" or "Grand master"?

I just want to point out, I had to google stymied. Nice sounding word.

I'm giving posthuman 10 extra points in the debate for linguistic style, and for attempting to have a discussion with flat earthers. I believe you deserve a humanitarian award as well.

In recognition of Posthuman's extra 10 points, his linguistic style, his attempts to have a discussion with Flat Earthers, and his recently awarded Humanitarian award, I have removed my red cross from his associated post.

I'd like to thank all the people who made this happen - to many to list.

If I have seen far, it is only because I stood atop all the pizza that came before me

um, hello...

Erasthones wasn't proving the earth is a globe, he was calculating an estimate of the circumference of the globe.

so, whatever you were quoting there, is pretty ignorant.

it was already well proven the earth is spherical from many ways, for hundreds of years before Erasthones, from ships disappearing over the horizon, from the motion of stars, from the sunrise and sunset, from the shadow of the earth during an eclipse of the moon, etc.
Listen I don't want any part of this debate. I have never been high enough to see with my own eye's so I'm not 100% sure of any of it honestly, but am so glad you mentioned the boat/horizon thing as evidence. I KNOW this is not true, or there's more to it. I've done this experiment myself and this is something I've seen with my own eyes, and you can too. You can watch a boat go "over the horizon edge", over the "curve", then grab a pare of binoculars and see it again, you can then watch the same thing in the binoculars and watch it go "over" the edge and grab a more powerful scope and find it again. The effect of the boat going "over the curve" is an optical illusion, at least as far as my most powerful telescope could track it. I watched it go "over the edge" twice and found it twice. Don't know what that proves, but it was interesting as it could be, and I have to admit I learned of this experiment from a flat earthers talking about the fact you could do this.
