Tell me what was racist about his comments...that whites or blacks to lazy to get a photo i.d. to vote is on them?

If what he said was racist, then I have no idea what racism is.

The fact is without voter fraud the democrat party cannot get elected. Voter photo id will lessen fraud. This is being called racist by the fraud loving democrats. In response, this head of the republican part in NC says if people of any color are too lazy to get voter photo id, that's on them....?

I don't get the racism....because he said lazy black voters? HE SAID THE SAME ABOUT LAZY WHITE VOTERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our nation has gone insane.

Racial: Of, relating to, or based on race.

His comments were racial, I don't see how anyone could see otherwise.

I'm glad he resigned. Not only his comments were rude and unnecessary, his whole attitude is.

how is it rude to state people would be considered lazy if they did not vote because they did not get a photo id?

Racial is not the question here, nice try. Its RACIST, ya know bigotry, prejudice and I saw absolutely nothing in his statements that was racist or even rude.

''
"The law is going to kick the Democrats in the butt," Yelton said. "If it hurts a bunch of college kids too lazy to get up off their bohonkas and go get a photo ID, so be it. If it hurts the whites, so be it."
"If it hurts a bunch of lazy blacks that want the government to give them everything, so be it," he added.''

That's not racist.

and to prove it is about racism....

''“I am not racist, never have been, and the ability of the local people and the media and the outlets to twist this into a racist issue shows exactly how willing the people are to be taken advantage of,” he said.''

I think we need more people who are willing to fight against the political correctness gone wild in our country.

From his speech there is a potential for him to be racist. Not enough to decide from this article.

Racial is the word I used, and the word the article used. You are the one who's saying it's not racist.

My OP is correct, he resigned after making racial comments. I'm not sure why you took exception to my OP.

Lets compare the two statements I bolded...

If it hurts whites... ok nothing wrong here...

If it hurts Lazy black who want the government to hand them everything... hmm see this is where it gets racist

Not hard to see, though you're republican goggles may blind you to this...

again the totality of the statement..

This statement includes multiple human groups, calling them lazy for not voting because they did not want to get a photo id ( which is weird since the vast majority of people have driver licenses ) He says the same thing about college students as he does blacks...so why compartmentalize his total statement?

I know why..because he had the politically incorrect audacity to say lazy and black in the same sentence.

See, thats plain ol' 100% BIGOTRY. That's what political correctness is ya know.

If you are black...and complaining about getting a photo id so you can vote, I can certainly see someone calling you lazy....same if you were white or a college student.

If a democrat said this ( and they say racially charged statements all the time ) it would not have been news. This is just liberal media out of control once again forcing their agenda..ya know live and let live liberalism, LOL,

I call it blatant hypocracy. Liberals call it a crusade.

he also singled out blacks as the only group wanting the government to handle everything...you really are just blind to this stuff in your republicanism?

I can hear it now. "All Republicans are racist." "The voter ID law is racist."

The jury is still out as to whether this particular party Chair is a racist. Was he right to resign? Yes. If he refused, someone should have sought impeachment.

To take these comments and say it is the ideal of the party or the reason for a law is utter foolishness though.

I'm Canadian, probably a bit on the liberal side (small L, not big L). As an outsider reading and hearing what this man said, I think he pretty much blasted everyone.

I don't think it is at all objective to say he just said "lazy blacks." He said whites, and bohunk students, which is another racial slur. So he is generally criticizing anyone who doesn't have voter ID.

In Canada, you have to have voter ID to vote. I can't remember when it wasn't that way. Well, a voter's card and personalp picture ID. You have to be registered to vote in advance. Why is that wrong? It eliminates people going from polling station to polling station to re-vote.

I feel sorry for this guy. But I guess he shot down too many people with his big mouth!

I can hear it now. "All Republicans are racist." "The voter ID law is racist."

The most common argument that I hear against requiring voters to show ID in order to enter the polls is that it its discriminatory against minorities. Beats me how it is since every state that I know of requires ALL adults to carry government issued (state or federal) ID on their person. If someone is ever stopped by police (driving, walking or otherwise) one of the first things they are going to ask for is identification. I never understood how it is somehow discriminatory to require EVERYONE to prove who they are prior to voting, especially when the most common voter fraud scandals to have hit in recent years have shown dead people voting.

I did not know that about Canada having an I.D. law. Thank you for the additional information, Angela.

The one group most affected by this economy is blacks.

Would it be racist of me to call them stupid for voting for this marxist president?

The answer...is no. ( By the way 95% of registered african americans who could vote, voted for Obama. )

Just because a group of people do something stupid..and someone calls them stupid, does not make it racist. In this case, its fact.

You can understand the guy's frustration. Between the cowardly republican party and the unwarranted attacks against the voter id card, using inflammatory but not racist remarks would seem to be an understandable response.
