Homosexuality, in contemporary usage, means romantic or sexual attraction to the same sex. It describes orientation, not sexual activity. Orientation and conduct are not interchangeable: a person does not have to engage in sex to possess an orientation.

Scripture addresses same-sex sexual conduct, but nowhere explicitly calls the mere possession of same-sex attraction sinful. To refute this, show a verse condemning orientation itself, not an action.

1. Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13 — What is prohibited?

Leviticus 18:22 prohibits a male from lying with a male as with a woman; Leviticus 20:13 likewise addresses males who engage in that act. Whatever their continuing application, these prohibitions concern acts, not an orientation or someone who has never performed those acts.

A prohibition against an act does not establish that experiencing an unchosen attraction is that act. Indeed, Leviticus 18:22 describes what a man must not do; it does not say that a man who is attracted to another man has already done it. To equate the two is to replace the wording of the command with an inference.

Romans 1:26–27 — Actions, desires, and context

Paul describes exchanges of sexual relations and men inflamed with desire for one another. He calls the passions dishonorable and the relations contrary to nature. Paul is making a moral judgment; denying that would weaken the argument.

But Romans 1 concerns exchanges, desires and sexual relations within a wider indictment of idolatry. It neither defines modern same-sex orientation nor says that merely discovering such attraction is sinful. Nor has every gay person exchanged a former heterosexual orientation.

Romans 2:1 then cautions those who judge others. The surrounding argument matters. Some Christians read Romans 1 as condemning all same-sex relations; others argue its setting narrows the behaviour in view. That dispute cannot honestly be settled by pretending Paul gives a modern definition of orientation. He does not.

First Corinthians 6:9–11 — Wrongdoing, not a diagnosis of identity

Paul begins: “Do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God?” His list concerns wrongdoing, including theft, adultery and swindling—not a catalogue of orientations.

The terms malakoi (“soft,” with disputed connotations) and arsenokoitai (commonly associated with males having sex with males) require care. Their scope is debated, though a behavioural meaning for arsenokoitai has strong historical support. Neither word straightforwardly means “someone who experiences same-sex attraction.” Translating them as “homosexuals” can blur conduct and orientation.

Verse 11, “And that is what some of you were,” concerns those categories and transformation in Christ; it does not explicitly say sexual orientation must change.

4. First Timothy 1:9–10 — Again, a list of offences

Arsenokoitai appears among lawbreakers, murderers, enslavers and liars. The text does not identify involuntary same-sex attraction as an offence.

5. Sodom, Gomorrah, and Jude 1:7

Genesis 19 depicts threatened sexual assault, not merely same-sex attraction. Ezekiel 16:49–50 identifies Sodom’s arrogance, abundance, neglect of the poor and abominations.

Jude 1:7 mentions sexual immorality and “strange flesh,” whose meaning is debated. Neither passage expressly condemns an orientation. Sexual violence is conduct, not orientation.

6. What about Genesis 1–2 and Jesus' teaching on marriage?

Genesis 1:27 describes male and female; Genesis 2:24 describes marriage between man and woman. Jesus cites this pattern while discussing divorce (Matthew 19:4–6). Describing marriage does not itself declare that someone sins by experiencing same-sex attraction.

What of Matthew 5:28?
Jesus condemns looking lustfully with adulterous intent. That proves inner attitudes can have moral significance; it does not prove that every experience of attraction is lustful intent. Otherwise, we would have to equate recognizing someone as attractive with choosing to commit adultery. James 1:14–15 distinguishes desire, enticement and sin being conceived. These passages demand moral discernment about desires, not the automatic condemnation of an orientation.

Conclusion — State the accusation accurately

“Scripture prohibits certain same-sex acts” and “Scripture explicitly condemns same-sex orientation itself” are different propositions.

A verse concerning conduct does not automatically condemn orientation. Ancient behavioural terms cannot simply be replaced with modern identity labels. And this claim is deliberately limited: distinguishing attraction from acts does not, by itself, settle every Christian disagreement about same-sex relationships. It establishes that arguments about conduct must not be misrepresented as explicit biblical condemnations of an entire class of people for what they feel.

Identify the passage explicitly condemning same-sex attraction itself, independently of conduct. Do not attribute to Scripture a proposition it does not explicitly state.

Accuracy is not a concession to culture. It is a responsibility to Scripture.

true however, Genesis 18 was before the Law was given that man was not to lay with man as he does a women. The action of man before the law was said are the reasons why the law was created to begin with

man had violated all the laws before God said do not do them when HE gave the 10 to Moses.

That means God reaffirms his displeasure of those perverted action then and also today. The culture had changed much between Abraham and Moses. But Gods stands on sin did not.

Matthew 19 Jesus...
And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, 5And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? 6Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

Jesus quotes before the law as authoritative too.
In case creation if Adam and Eve, His commands then were not enough, he gives Genesis 13.
If that's not enough he gives Genesis 19 and judges 19. Then over 50 references to reinforce what He established in the beginning.

Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom. 13But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly.

What do you think about the sodomites getting on this forum more and more lately?

I am not here to label those who are in sin I am trying to tell them That Jesus did not save us in sin he saved from sin. We no longer identify with any sin, but with Christ. Gen 2:24 that Jesu quoted in MATTHEW 19 was what God created marriage to be between one man and one woman. That is what HE joins together. My hope is all repent and come to the Lord Jesus Christ. Those who identify with homosexuality are not at peace, live in torment and deceived. the world has enabled those who are bound by sexual addiction and sexual idolatry to do what is right in their own eyes. The greater sin is those who teach other to do so. They will be under greater Judgement. The message is Christ has come to set you free for this sexual sin and perversion. Surrender today and come to Christ. Separate yourself from all forms of this sin. And learn the way of the Lord.

weaponssomeone breaks into your home, can you protect yourself? Can you use deadly force? Will you stand idly by while your daughter gets rapes?

"When evildoers break laws, they are to be dealt with." Yes, by those who wield weapons.

"Can you protect yourself? Can you use deadly force?" Yes, if necessary. There is a time to turn the cheek and a time to kick butt.

"Will you stand idly by while your daughter gets raped?" No, that would be hatred for your daughter.

I think a lot of people believe that having a homosexual mind is a choice someone makes.
This almost never true.

1. Someone can be born with homosexuality as a brain disorder.
Something wasn't wired at birth the same as most people causing the contradiction.

2. The result from predator attack or grooming at youth.
The mind will always naturally try to understand why something is happening and a young developing person can reason s*xual attack as normal on some level.
Other times confusion about orientation is introduced by grooming, again teaching developing minds. Grooming through media, influential people, movies, predators etc.

It does not mean God does not love them nor should we ourselves not love them.
We should love others as we love ourselves.

If a hetero man is hooked on or prefers p*rn or lust then his sinful activity is no less than two of the same gender together.
In both cases this will necessarily require intervention from God the Holy Spirit to provide either a pathway from that sin, or abstinence altogether.

If the person into p*orn or homosexual activity try to hide it from God, rationalize it as normal and refuse to repent then yes it is open, rebellious sin against God.

With that said, caution is required regarding young people.
Yes, we should love and respect them as rational, caring people, yet with special safeguards (See #2).
Yes we would do exactly the same with hetero with a wired mind for similar.
Sin is sin. My concern is with those who claim that homosexuality is somehow excusable.

Yes, the first sentence you put here would be correct. That is not a sin. It is written. "Do not lie with a male (zachar) as one lies with a woman (ishah); it is an abhorrence (to'evah)". Christ said to his own, "If you were blind, you'd have no sin. But you say you see, your sin remains." You're not blind here. There are a lot of thoughts that come into my head that aren't mine. I don't listen to them. The Spirit of God he bears witness with our spirit. One truly does not have to guess or wonder. Ask him. Ask him about this, but it has to be from your heart, and he will tell you. He'll show you in his word.

There are those that believe the word of God and have this desire for the same flesh, and they live with this daily and fight it. There are those that believe, with God, all things are possible, and have cried out to him over and over to be free of this same-sex attraction. And then just two stories I can give you. They both woke up the next morning after praying and seeking God for months. Their desire for the same flesh was gone, as if it was never within them. Too many times we want to be delivered, but yet we don't. We think we mean it, but it's never with our heart. It's like calling on him and asking him anything. It has to be truly from your heart. You have to mean it. You have to truly want to know.

He'll talk to you. What he does for one, he does for everyone. Homosexuality is a sin. If I think in my heart to lust after another person, it's a sin as if I already did it. If some desire popped up for me to have the same desire for the same flesh, I would instantly know that is not of God. I rebuke it. I resist it. I command it to leave in the name of Jesus. That is not of God. It's not that it's a worse sin. It's the fact that God made man and woman, and when man and woman come together, they're one. That is so huge. It's hard to understand. So the same flesh. It's not one. They can never be one. It's just an abomination. And it's not that God hates the person for God so loved the world. It's that evil desire aka sin. Those things pull you away from Him. Put up a roadblock. Or you're basically telling God, "Stay away."

As long as they seek their own desires, God cannot do anything. He cannot go against man's will. But the way out is so easy. He said twice, "Old Testament, New Testament," "Whosoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be delivered." That doesn't matter what kind of sin, demonic, He really is that big. And that word delivered, sometimes translated, delivered and saved. What you seek, you find this truth for yourself. Pray about it. Ask Him. Because my personal view here is just that.

Sin is sin. My concern is with those who claim that homosexuality is somehow excusable.
I had previously said:
1. Someone can be born with homosexuality as a brain disorder.
Something wasn't wired at birth the same as most people causing the contradiction

If I understand correctly, do you believe God would create thousands among thousands of people with a brain physically wired to be contrary to their gender to be automatically destined to hell without any possible route for the redemption of Jesus Christ?

Please show scripture where God creates people without any path what so ever and zero hope for redemption because He created them that way.
I am talking specifically about those masses of people who recognize acting out their desires is open rebellion and so do not partake in it.

I am saying God does indeed provide a pathway for those in that condition.
It would require an amazing Holy intervention or Abstinence.

Thoughts may be merely temptations; lust/evil desires are sinful thoughts.

It is both. Desire precedes fruits.

Orientation is not desire. That is a misconception. To explain the difference, all one needs to do is focus on the social debate, which asks whether homosexuality is an immutable characteristic such as race, ethnicity, sex, or age. "Prejudice is often defined as a preconceived judgment about a person based on membership in a group, especially when that group is identified by an immutable characteristic.

Homosexuals and misogynists have adopted the term "orientation" in order to argue that homosexuality is an immutable characteristic. People sleep with the same sex because they were born with that orientation. In this view, a person can't help being a homosexual, just like they can't do anything about being born a certain race or avoid being a certain age. Therefore, Sodomy laws are unjust because they are prejudiced against people with the immutable characteristic of same sex attraction.

The Bible and common sense define homosexuality as a behavior based on an irrational decision. Paul defines it that way in Romans 1. He says that since mankind decided to suppress their knowledge of God, they chose to abandon the natural use of the woman. For this reason, he says, God gave them over to degrading passions. In other words, according to Paul, homosexuality is not an immutable characteristic.

I discovered something about that passage that I never realized before. Paul's comparison between men and women in the context of homosexuality is imbalanced. That is, whether a man sleeps with a man or a woman sleeps with a woman, both of them defeat the "natural function of the woman." And what is the natural function of the woman? Childbirth. God would never design a person to have a same sex orientation because that would defeat the purpose of reproduction. Therefore same sex orientation is NOT an immutable characteristic of human beings.

the context of homosexuality is sin. and the perversion of men and women heart. That creates wicked actions that God never condoned. the APA and other groups made this a life style in the 1980's . Now the are trying to subject to all this is an uncontrolled desire because they were born this way. They on one hand say it is a mental illness but on the other hand teach it and promote as a social norm.

the fact that Homosexuality left unchecked has grown into the LGBTQ movement. When sin is not delt with in ones life it produces more depravity. One becomes more darkened. That is what Romans chapter says.
