Now THIS is exactly the kind of marriage advice we singles want to hear about!!

Hi @KH777!

If we haven't officially met, I'm Seoul, and it's very nice to meet you! I know there's a lot of debate on whether marrieds should be allowed to post in Singles, etc.

I first started on this site in 2009, and the site was very busy, so there were more active places on the forum for people to go to -- making the lines were much clearer then. Over time, with so many other sites for people to spend time on, CC has slowed down and now people pay more attention to whether a topic sounds fun or interesting and not so much where it's posted.

There are many of us here in Singles who have been here 10+ years, and you'll see often see us bantering away, so feel free to join in.

We also love married friends who are kind, compassionate, and can banter right along with us! Unfortunately, over the years, we've had many SAP's (self-appointed preachers and prophets) try to plant themselves here to try to preach to us about how we should be living. But they don't know anything about us -- nor do they bother taking the time to get to know us. Many here were abandoned by spouses and have kids, etc., so we're not rookies at life.

Just a few days ago, someone came in and told us we were too young to know anything about love or marriage. Ironically, that poster was quoting a post from someone 15 years older than him!! So this is what I mean... Patronizing without personal relationship -- which is something many of us tend to ignore.

I'd guess the average age in Singles these days is about 45, but a good number of regulars are in their 50's, 60's, 70's -- and each has their own unique life story.

You seem like a well-balanced, understanding, and very interesting person, and that's something we love to see in Singles! (Unfortunately, it can be rare to find.)

Welcome to the Dark Side (we have cookies to go with that coffee!!) and I hope you'll feel comfortable enough to keep posting here! :)

Lol..well you are hilarious, and yes (tea people ..blah...bound to happen...kidding kidding tea folks....I love tea as well..) but again thank you...and so very nice to meet you as well... yes as the way it is with a large group of different people..I have to agree...trying to find a comfortable group that might catch my sarcasm taking things light or respecting we are not all the same as Gods design for individualality...my intentions are to never offend ..but there will always be some ...so to find like-minded is rare and difficult.. ..

im new , joined a few weeks ago and have definitely stepped into a few (SAPs) conversations/pretentious/popularity contests / self righteous opinions etc...

I have found myself with more time on my hands, a ton of alone time as life has slowed down ..so thought I'd give an online group a shot, and no better place then like-minded people..

I have wanted to step away from time to time ..then I meet someone like yourself and realize quickly...out of thousands here .there has to be a few ..so thankyou again seoul ..you are a gem and definitely a blessing ...and no need for cookies ..your earlier post had me at meat and potatoes.. 😂

Well I love tea and don't touch the burnt bean jitter juice. But I'm still single so it's not the tea thing.

And to win over a tea drinker you don't need a keurig, you need a fancy electric kettle with temp settings to make sure any tea is brewed at the correct temperature. And also a rather impressive collection of loose leaf tea and brew baskets. Ability to make scones and clotted cream is also a definite plus but not strictly required.
😂 I’m fully on the same page. A proper electric kettle with temperature control is non-negotiable. Tea deserves respect!

Soooo...
popping a mug full of water into the microwave and hitting the 'beverage' button to let it heat up the water before adding a store bought tea bag from a pouch into it to steep is a no-no?

No matter how hard we try to turn a blind eye, the Coffee Vs. Tea -- Battle to the Death! debate always seems to rear it's ugly head -- and time, any place, any thread!!

P.S. Don't tell anyone, but @cinder may or may not have gotten me to dabble into Tea Total-i-an-nar-i-an-ism as well.

I haven't been fully converted... And I'm not sure if I'm ready to come out of the (tea) closet yet, but I have to admit to being at least partially corrupted. 😥

It's in the realm of inviting someone over for hommade pizza abd then serving those little totinos party pizzas or a microwaved frozen deep dish single.

Oh boy.

Now you did it, GG. Now you did it!

You just couldn't resist, could you???!!

As you can all see, God's Girl has officially started Armageddon:

And that's exactly why we keep her around.

@seoulsearch can vouch for my kettle and tea collection. As well as my consumption levels (which those who are not tea aficionados might consider extreme)

I wouldn't say Cinder is a tea addict...

I just might advise you -- VERY STRONGLY -- to never try to get between her and her tea -- unless you want to get hurt.

Or... Unless you ask her -- very, very nicely, calm and steady -- if she'd share a cup with you.

Cinder is always up for recruiting yet another (gullible) convert! 😁:coffee::LOL:

P.S. She took me to a tea house and It. Was. Fabulous!

No frilly hat required.

Sheesh what kind of riff Raff are we allowing in our houses? Kettle is proper (kidding).. the fastest way for tea to ma belly is the path I'm taking ....coming from a microwave lover and a drinker of tea only when I'm sick...this is bad advice 😷....

😂 I see I’ve accidentally wandered into a sacred tea ritual debate… I shall proceed with caution. At this point it’s basically the tea equivalent of reheated microwave coffee… and somehow we’re still alive to tell the tale.

If you're looking for sarcastic banter, you've come to the right place!! 😁

Although I have to warn any newcomers that in general, I will pick on the same people I know over and over again -- simply because I know I can get away with it!

In all seriousness, I don't want to offend those I don't know as well, and especially not friendly newcomers (because they are rare,) so I try to be careful at first. But if someone shows that they are up for the challenge, look out, because it's no holds barred!!

There is a group of us here in singles who have met in person, so we tend to pick on each other a lot -- and it's always a good show, lol. A dear married friend here on the forum also suggested that we post threads in Family so that other marrieds would feel more comfortable asking.

So if you're wondering what latest trouble is brewing, it's usually here in Singles, Family, and occasionally Miscellaneous. (I don't post there as much because it tends to have a more political/current events flavor, and I don't want to disrupt that.) @Lynx, @Lanolin and others also regularly start threads that often turn into parties, so feel free to check them out too!

We do write about a lot of serious topics, though, such as a current thread in Family about caring for the elderly.

Mostly, we try to balance real life with a bit of fun, and it always works best when great people like yourself come along for the ride! :)

Thank you so much for the kind words -- I often take breaks where I have to clear my thoughts for a while -- but lately I've been feeling a little more recharged, so let the trouble begin! 😎

Okay, well for the record I don't typically go the microwave water + tea bag route.
When I do make tea I like to go the 'vintage' route and bring out Mr. Coffee's wife Mrs. Tea

She really is such a lovely lady, and they are just such a cute pair.

That, and because I know how to feed an army.

It may not seem like it -- sure, it might seem like we just let any old random crazy person in (I mean, look at me!) -- but we actually have VERY strict standards for members here in Singles.

Fortunately for GG, causing (polite) mayhem -- and being able to feed people in mass -- are MOST DEFINITELY passable skills! :D

Well shiver me timbers!!!

I never even knew Mr. Coffee was married!! (There goes my flirty banter with him every morning -- and here I still thought I had a chance!)

That little "tea maker" is super cute -- but I have to wonder if our official tea drinkers here would say that she "really" counts as a worthy tea companion?!

Love this!! And yes, definitely my type of people ..you all are hilarious, with big loving hearts ... And so witty ..lol...the balance is definitely the key isn't it ...Again thankyou for the inclusion and meeting you all 🙏..I'm not easily offended as I suffer from the ole insert the foot in the mouth syndrome ...and actually I am a shy reserved introvert type ..but seem to attract or surround myself with the (crazy..in a good way)

so yes I've bounced around to other forums to see something interesting to learn observe/ serve etc...if anything I can offer or best to stay quiet ...🙏

This made me laugh out loud, thank you!!!

I guess our next step is banding together and starting a support group for fellow survivors of The Heated Beverage Microwave Apocalypse...

LOL!!

These threads are a dangerous place for unveiling all the evil that goes on behind close doors -- literally!!!

I've actually been feeling a bit under the weather -- like when you're so tired that even "putting on the kettle" seems like an Olympic-level activity -- and now I wonder if all the Beverage Puritans will forgive me JUST THIS ONCE for using the microwave...

Don't worry!

I'm wearing a helmet -- just in case anything bad happens!

You're in good company, we introverts like socializing on text forums at our leisure so I won't say we're all introverts here. But if we were extroverts we'd probably be out interacting with real live people somewhere.

I'm not about rumors or anything, just thought you should know, there's still a chance...I don't think he's taken ..I did see Mr coffee and Mrs Butterworth hanging out on aisle 4...
