The internet is full of fantasy and facades. I learned this lesson the hard and stupid way.

Its strange to me to think that I've made a connection with someone. But it has to stand out to me because I don't get along with many people.

There are plenty of friendships that can come out of online communications but when you're searching for a relationship there is no such thing as too careful. You have to know the difference between reality and internet.

I would advice not to stablish a relationship with anyone online. Just because of that.. too many emotional frustrations. Don't get emotionally involved with anyone online. I think CC is great to make friends and get involved with brothers and sisters in Christ. But just that. Only a few can find someone to marry online. I would advice to everyone not to get the hopes up for anyone here, and not to expect anything from anyone. That's a great advice for life. ;)

I've been lied to once by someone I met online a few years ago, and its not going to happen again. I have trouble making connections with people in general, so avoiding it online is easy for me. Just be myself and send mental warnings at people. Must be working, haven't had a connection with anyone in years, online or otherwise.

Were connecting riiiiiiiiiight now

One of the first people , very recently, that I met online and had some small relationship with is [presently] a total liar and still perpuating that lie. I can't say I wouldn't give it another chance but the next one had better expect to be 100% transparent.

Just in the small amuont of time I have spent chatting and getting to know people, lying about oneself seems to be commonplace.

which is sad considering I assume they consider themselves christian. I've notice a lot of christians spend a lot of time lying both online and in real life. Its shameful for those who claim to be following Christs teaching and confess faith in his sacrifice on calvary.

Yes, your so right... and its really pitiful

This is small talk with strangers, not connecting. its not meaningful, and no one is going to be upset if we don't hear from each other again. Connecting is when you actually feel something for each other.

nope i dont think thats true...

i think you can connect with someone you just have things in common with i dont believe you have to actually feeeel something for someone to connect with them

face it.

IM RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:D

I try to open all doors and be available for friendship, fellowship and if God chooses to bring someone special into my life through long distance online, I am open to that as well. But over the years I have gotten very discouraged, even on here. Seems most of the guys that contact me are only here to play games with peoples heads and hearts, use them, lie to them and basically only want one thing. I don't understand how someone who proclaims to be a Christian, can get on these sites and act the way they do. I even had one guy as soon as we started chatting, wanted to guess my bra size...come on folks, grow up. If that is all a person is out for, then go on some other site especailly designed for what you are looking for. Most that get on these Christian sites such as myself, are just looking for good Christian fellowship, friendship and a little companionship. To give and get some encouragement, to lend a listening ear and to pray for someone who might need lifted up. After all, isn't that what it is all about?

I have met a couple nice guys who are good friends of mine now, so there are a few good guys out there. Thanks fellows for being true to your God and being the kind of men God wants you to be.

I haven't read too many comments in this thread, so I may be way off base by my comment, but I just wanted to share my experiences. And thank you for placing the "Ignore" on here that I can use to block those that contact me that clearly are not here for the right reasons. And I would like to know who I should contact to report someone who clearly is playing games with people in oreder to protect another from getting hurt feelings and going through some of the things I have been through.

Thank you for listening...God bless you all!

Okay Holly, you win! You are right.

As I expressed to my co-workers in my office how much I hate lies my boss made a poster for me that says "Lying is for Losers." The word "loser" makes me a bit uncomfortable, but really, lying is super lame. It's a pet peeve and I don't approve of it. It's unfortunate to consider that it's "commonplace" as Djness has said. I just have the attitude of "trust no one." Unfortunate, but real.

I agree with Eri. I have invested much of my time to building a relationship online on a few different occasions. Unless both of you are clearly on the same page, I would definately not get too emotionally involved. Heart ache stinks and heart break is a double stink.

Stick to making friends online and spare yourself from the "online frustrations".

See_KING_Truth, I like your avatar. ^_^

and I have nothing to say at the moment on this subject....I just wanted to comment on his avatar. lol

I just read this whole thread and I have so much to comment on. First of all I would like to thank Julianna and Gabe for the complament they posted on another thread. ( I cant remember wich thread it was but I mentioned I had bipolor disoder). Now here it goes!
1) It does not stand to reason that the only people looking for a relationship online are players. Look at all the people who posted on this thread that said they did look for a relationship online. I know its posible to be a christian that is a player, because we all sin. But some how Id like to beleive that the majority of you are honest. Its not that I think any of you are lieing its just the fact that Im not nieve and I know we are all capable of lieing. My point is that I think there are honist people on this thread who went to dating sites so every one who goes to a dating site cant all be players. I did date 2 men from plenty of fish, I admit the relationships did not last long but there really wasnt any drama going on like the guys I met outside of the internet.

2) I think Zero is right about women being attracted to men that are players. I was attracted to bad boys most of my of my life , I dated them , had childern by 2 of them. I just dont know how I lucked out with that record by saying no to their marrage perposals and suggestions that we live together. I wasted my youthful looking years sleeping with men I was sexually attracted to but knew they were not marrage material. I just was not atracted to the nice guys. At one piont I decided I wanted the drama out of my life so I gave up on the bad boys. Then I worked on improving myself by reading self help books on relationships. I am now attracted to THE NICE GUYS. I just need to get my mental health better and get out of the house to expose my self to people.( um.. I did not mean that like it sounded)

3) Id like to comment on WorshippingGods post; How come I dont have any fun guys sending me volger messagges? JK. If any body does I would not give them the pleasure of writing back to them telling them to get lost. I would ignore them because I beleive that bad attention is better than no attention at all.

It's been my experience that people don't actually lie as much as they hide things in some way, but people do the same offline as well, huh? I guess there are things I don't share easily either though because I'm not thrilled about being stalked again.

The people I have met from online were pretty much who they said they were. Meeting in person is very important before considering a relationship with someone online.

My frustration is that a lot of people (and I can't say it's all guys, because I've seen women do it too) will tease and lead someone on knowing full well that a relationship will never happen because there is something they are hiding. It almost seems as if they don't really see others online as real people, but rather toys for their entertainment. I've been hurt in this way and I've seen a lot of other people hurt by this too.

For me, unless God STRONGLY leads me to believe otherwise at some point, online is pretty much a friends only zone.
