Our Path Prepared in Advance

"For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." Ephesians 2:10

In Micheal Jackson's video, “Billie Jean”, Micheal is walking down a path that lights up as he takes each step. The director of that video, Steve Barron, tells how he had to pull Micheal aside and explain to him that they prepared in advance the lighting of that walk. Those lights were programed to light up at certain times and if Micheal goes off course, it will not look right.

That's how it is with us. God has prepared in advance for us our path. If we do not step on the path that lights up for us, our lives will not look right. So, how do we know what paths to take? He tells us to trust in Him and lean not on our own understanding and in ALL our ways to acknowledge Him and He will make our paths straight (Prov 3:5-6). Seek Him FIRST and His righteousness and ALL these things will be added unto us (Matt 6:3). If we mess up, that's okay, just turn back to Him, seek Him, humble ourselves and pray and turn away from our wrong doings, then will He hear from heaven, forgive us, and heal our land (2 Chron 7:14).

Thank you sister! This thread should turn out better than the tattoo post. lol

i really like the imagery here -- but i want to pick at it a little bit anyway, in love :)

Billie Jean was recorded quite a while ago now. we didn't have the tech as easily and cheaply available that we do these days.
if Billie Jean had been recorded today, instead of pre-programming the lights to come on at a certain time, each light would be hooked to a laser sensor that turned the light on whenever Jackson reached a certain point. this way, if Jackson ad-libbed or went off course, the effect would have been the same: the path would be illuminated when he got to it, and not before.

the way you've described it, it's NOT OK if we mess up, because then if we turn back to Him, our timing is off, and no matter what we will never catch up to our lives "looking right" ever again, unless maybe we speed ahead, skipping what we were supposed to do at the closer stages, so we can catch back up to the point where the lights are flipping on? in Jackson's video, if he 'messed up,' the director would cry "cut" and the whole shoot would have to start over from the beginning.

but the way that it would work today - just like i bet many of us have outside our homes or in our garages - the path is illuminated when we get to it, not before. so if we stumble and miss our step, all we have to do is return to Him, and go back to the right way, and the light will be there for us.
also, this is like what our lives are like as we experience them: we cannot see far into the future, and very often the Spirit leads us to do things that we don't understand what the purpose or outcome is. we know that He turns all things for our good and for His glory, but in the here and now, that is often not clear to us - though looking back, it usually is. He shines the light on our path in the part of it that we should be walking in now, and when we get to the next stage, He shines on it too, so it's revealed at the proper time. :)

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
(Psalm 119:105)

I believe no matter where we are currently for whatever reason - as we turn to the Lord and completely trust in Him - the Lord is able to create His plan for us from where we are at the time.

This boggles the human mind but He is actually that great and powerful. The Lord doesn't send trouble to His beloved children anymore then we would to our children but He sure can take whatever mess the world, our enemy or what ourselves have created and make something beautiful out of it. He will always be caught in the act of being Himself as we trust not in our own understanding but in His faithfulness to us.
