You present a distortion. The proper statement was presented, "You must keep the Sabbath to be Saved," and no wonder it was low, for keeping the Sabbath doesn't bring salvation. Then you add "How does obedience to the Sabbath affect your Salvation?" That is a good question when answered in the arena of how does it assist in the believes walk with God. Obviously an unbeliever isn't going to keep the Sabbath unless they think salvation comes by the Sabbath keeping instead of Jesus Christ. You're showing all people reading this who you really are. I see absolutely no love from you comments that reveal your demeanor. What's that say about you?

another misused scripture to make you the faithful persecuted servant. stop using it. it's not about your feigned obedience to parts of the mosaic covenant. but i bet your friends are impressed.

here's the bald truth your friend stated. do you believe it too? why backpedal? just state your belief openly. if keeping the sabbath (precisely and without fail as it was prescribed) "effects your walk with God", he wants you to observe it. the only problem is you can't separate that from the old covenant. i've seen you try though. that's the worst possible alternative. it doesn't work. i recommend you stop using words searching and forcing an old covenant into the new one.

The Bible repeatedly emphasized Passover, "And this day shall be for you a memorial…" (Exodus12:14); "And Moses said to the people: remember this day in which you come out from Egypt, out of the house of bondage…" (Exodus13:3); "You shall remember what Adonai your God did to Pharaoh…" (Deuteronomy7: 18); "that you may remember the day when you come out of the land of Egypt all the days of your life" (Deuteronomy16:3).
I've wondered why 40 years wandering in the wilderness when we came out of Egypt? Maybe to get Egypt out of us. A reminder to be "not conformed to the world". As Least and Just us 2 emphasized recently, to be transformed.

I know much has been made of the lamb to be slaughtered just before the exodus of Israel from Egypt. It has been called a foreshadowing of events to come by some. That the 'true, real or final meaning' of the passover was revealed some 2,000 years ago. But to be truthful, I find this 'new' doctrine a very hard pill to swallow, I mean, would God knowingly deceive Israel by telling them face to face the purpose and duration of this observance then tell someone else an entirely different meaning? I don't think so, especially since the question had already arisen over 4,000 years ago and God spoke exactly we are to tell our children as to the purpose of the passover feast. The memorial is what God said it is, and it will be that way forever (Ex 12:14)
Now nothing is said as to the reason why a lamb was the animal of choice to be slaughtered. Lately these last several days all I have been thinking about is the upcoming feast and why a lamb? And lo and behold I had a vision! Not really, a spirit told me! Would you believe I saw in a dream? Actually I woke up the other morning and went hiking. I walked several miles and I was once again thinking of Passover, you know what else I was thinking about? How I should have had something to eat before I made such a long journey.
Which sort of got me thinking why Papa told Israel to take a lamb, slaughter it and eat it in haste. Israel were shepherds so there was I suppose a bunch of lambs to be had. Why did everyone get to eat one without blemish? For starters I think God sees men equally he wanted everyone in the best shape for the journey so nobody ate a lamb which could possibly make them sick. Also one without blemish is a pretty good indicator that a lamb is of the first year, as older lambs teeth are worn down (a blemish in my opinion). Additionally lambs are very nutritious, they're easier to cook and more tender than mutton and personally I think they taste better too thereby making it easier for everyone to eat it in haste.
Now for my thoughts about the blood. Before the instructions pertaining to the feast were given. God had already said that at "about midnight will I go out into the midst of Egypt... that you may know that YHVH does put a difference between the Egyptians and Israel." (Ex 11:5-7).
I think Israel would be distinguished by their obedience and show that obedience to God's commandment by taking the blood of the lamb they were to eat and apply it to their entry ways like they were told too. The Egyptians would most definitely see and know in the end that because of it, God 'passed over' Israel and spared their first born. That blood was not applied to hide peoples sins from God nor was it an atonement for sin. It was applied in obedience to God which in the end most certainly distinguished them from Egypt.

God's ways are so above ours it's not possible to completely understand, after all, if He was so simple that we could, He wouldn't be so Great and Awesome!
I'm learning that the Bible should never be considered as if a checklist, that's happened won't happen again, so mark it off.
God says forever, I think He means forever..what we are to remember and do.

My wife had an interesting revelation today while we were cleaning out some cabinets.
One reason God may have had His people go without yeast for a week was for health reasons. Many people get a build up of yeast in their bodies, and it could be good to have a time where that is removed. Additionally, the Israelites couldn't just go to the store when the 7 days were up and pick up new yeast. It likely took quite awhile for any yeast to form again. Unleavened Bread could have been a natural time of physical cleansing intended by God.
It's more of a nutritional insight, but interesting nonetheless.

Thanks for sharing.
As time goes on and knowledge increases we do in fact have confirmation the dietary instructions of God are good for us, and also fasting is a known way of cleansing the body. Some Drs encourage fasting especially if you have a history of cancer in your family.
At any rate, we are not as smart as God, and His instructions have reasons beyond the obvious, obedience.
