I would say generally I agree with you, I will say like this, in the OT and NT there are promises of life and death, depending on if one chooses to have faith and obedience or chooses not to. The reason I made a post on death in the NT is becase a claim was made only the OT talks about that or something similar.
The last verse I posted contained BOTH, possibly you didnt actually read my whole post or just missed it:
but there is clearly a choice of life or death in the entire Word:
"those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have practised evil matters, to a resurrection of judgment."
Very similar to this:
Deuteronomy 30:19-20, "“I have called the heavens and the earth as witnesses today against you: I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. Therefore you shall choose life, so that you live, both you and your seed, to love יהוה your Elohim, to obey His voice, and to cling to Him – for He is your life and the length of your days – to dwell in the land which יהוה swore to your fathers, to Aḇraham, to Yitsḥaq, and to Ya‛aqoḇ, to give them.”
the new testsment is the way out of death into life the death you see is not a promise it’s a warning like this it’s meant for life but we have to hear and accept it as truthh because our lord is telling us
“I tell you, Nay: but,
except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.”
Luke 13:5 KJV
This is Jesus imparting the right mind of life Into us but the issue is when we reject it that’s death to not accept the gospel is what I’m saying
The law is the “ ministration of death “
“But if
the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away:
how
shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious?
For if
the ministration of condemnation be glory,
much more doth
the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory.”
2 Corinthians 3:7-9
There are two testaments meant for two purposes one is to bring man to the knowledge of thier sins
“Now we know that
what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.( if the law is about forgiving sin and mercy Paul doesn’t understand because he’s saying everything the law says is meant hold the world guilty forgiving sin doesn’t accomplish that )
Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for
by the law is the knowledge of sin.”
Romans 3:19-20 KJV
So first came the law to give the knowledge of sin like the scriptire above says there , then comes at gods appointed time the original promise of the gospel that’s about remitting sins not making us guilty but forgiving us and renewing us and teaching us righteousness not sin but righteousness
there’s an order
“
The law and the prophets
were until John:
since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.”
Luke 16:16 KJV
When Jesus began to preach he says this to those who lived under the law
“Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, and saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.”
Mark 1:14-15 KJV
Wheras the law imparts the knowledge of sin and death the gospel is about Gods righteousness and eternal life
“But
seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
Matthew 6:33 KJV
No matter how pore we think we are it’s because there’s a lot we haven’t heard yet that Jesus taught is my theory we can’t forget the part that Jesus came to save sinners by beforendong then and accepting them up front and then directing them in the truths like “ you really do need to repent or your going to perish like sinners always have “
Jesus teachings are the lords word directly from the lords mouth face to face Jesus isnt just a prophet like Moses or an apostle like Paul he is the lord and savior of them both and all of us as well
But the New Testament that comes from Jesus is not about imputing sin and making the world guilty of thier sins , it’s about the opposite function and began to be preached in Jerusalem by Jesus and then his apostles and disciples afterwards
“Then
opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, and said unto them,
Thus it is written, ( in the ot ) and thus
it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And ye are witnesses of these things.”
Luke 24:45-48 KJV
Man had to be made aware of sin and what it is and what it results in death in order to. BRing them to repentance so the law was preached until Jesus came forth preaching the gospel which is about repentance and faith in Christ and his word that’s the one promising everlasting life Moses never promised that he only promised a good old age and then death of they all
obeyed every single thing perfectly
ot was t about believing into righteousness but was about how righteous a sinner at heart could be the gospel isnt like that it changes the heart through faith hearing and believing the lord
