I hate to admit this but agree!! Pentecostal pastors and all seem to be about money and all. I'm just wanting to save life's from the bottom less pit ans not get rich doingnit

I agree with Ugly,
this isn't a conspiracy.

People say stupid things all the time.
Stupid doesn't equate with conspiracy.

Now, can we please get back to alien abductions and zombie cows?
: )

The way I look at things is it is not wrong to have nice things. However I also look at it this way could they have bought a good car worth 15k and used the other 5k to 30k on helping others....YES. The same with a building they use to hold worship in, can they use a less fancy and big elaborate building to hold worship in...again YES. The money could have been used for better more helpful reasons. Even Jesus told his disciples that what ever money they were given when they go out to collect it, and use it to give to the needy in the next town, as what was shown in acts that the apostles kept carrying out. So when I see these big fancy churches or preachers driving around in a expensive car. I think look at all the wasted money that could have helped people. As for tv, radio, and so forth some people just go to far...extremists.

so how to keep the balance?

Not all of them,....
And they are Christians who are stuck in man made walls who silently suffer for God's Sake among imitators.

I know there are pastors who are churches that go by the name 'Pentecostal' that aren't fixated on money. I know one who seems to be financing the church he pastors out of his business. He even put his own name on the church loan and is responsible to pay it off if the church can't. Another pastor I know works as a handyman and doesn't take a church salary as he plants different churches.

The 20k car rule? I've never heard of that before this thread. Not all Pentecostals these days have a list of rules about stuff like that.

I guess the 'prosperity movement' teachings are more Charismatic than Pentecostal, but some Pentecostal preachers are influenced by it. It depends on the preacher.

Well, we got messed over at the car lot paying 8k over sticker :(. for our Hyundai. I'm pentecostal too and it annoys me to see a pastor with a Lexus then shames people for not giving more.

I'm buying a 2013 dodge anvenger and my pastor seen it tonight all blue said was nice red car lol. My car is blue and yet he drives a lexus

"Judge not that you be not judged for as you judge you shall be judged"
it it is the jimmy swaggart syndrome, you judge others and then you fall by the same things you judged against.

I believe God is very serious about He being the judge and has told us often in scripture not to judge one another.

your pastor tells his fold not to buy a car over 20k and yet he drives a Lexus. The bishop of Atlanta (catholic) vowed to live a life of poverty and had a 2.5 million dollar home built for himself to live in.
Hypocracy crosses all denominational boundaries.

it is a perversion of the truth which is so evident today, and I suppose has been evident for a long time.

May God reveal to each of us our own hypocracy and deliver us from its bondage.

Hi, coolgirl!

I spent 13 years married to a pentecostal. She used to think, of herself, as a "leader" (but I have ONE leader to follow, solely). I agree there are too many secular things around (even my nickname) but I learnt that those denomintions serve for anything. Some may like COCACOLA, other people like PEPSI and other waters... Jesus said, to HIS disciples: Let it be when His 12 saw several others were casting demons and weren´t going with the twelve... Where they the 1st pentecostals in the jews? Who knows! But Jesus said "those who are NOT against me, are with me".

Salvation is NOT a denominational issue. There is not a group of people to be saved while others won´t be saved, as a group, race or denomination. I, myself, don´t have a TV set. I seldom watch it, but I cannot deny my human longings, sins and backsliding for being isolized somewhat as a hermit. I don´t have a car and, if I had money, I would buy a power generator to have electricity my own home. A car is an asset! but I don´t like to be enslaved to more stuff that simple one I can use. Things are not sinful! It´s me who sin by misusing them.

hope you never do like YIYE AVILA (an old Puertorican preacher), By time he owned a radio station and a TV station. He used to crash TV sets in public meetings. He challanged people to hate their TV sets but, when getting too old, he made some money buying everything he said he hated...

Oncefallen, I understand what you are saying but for instance my pastor preaches on giving to the church no big deal. But when he says don't buy a car over 20k and he himself is driving a Mercedes Benz I tent to double think where my offering is going and why we can't have big exspensive cars lol. I just don't get it

WOW - that is a BIG red flag that your pastor says not to buy a car that is worth over 20K and he is driving a MB. Even if he paid less than 20K for the car, it still sends a conflicting message of "do as I say but not what I do". I wouldn't go to this church if this was my pastor. What else is he doing in his own life and in turn telling you not to do.

Presidente - No Christian denomination is immune to "the prosperity movement".

So I am a Pentecostal and tho my church has many "code of Ethics". I am also posting this here cause I'm not sure where else to post it. While I believe in the Pentecost that is spoke of in the Bible, my religious faith in God is firm. What I am getting at is why does my church and every denomination say that things are against the bible? The reason I say this for instance this is not a joke nor lie, some have said TV, Radio, to own a vehicle that cost more than 20k
Ect. Is against the bible.

Now I will admit some things on TV and radio has immoral topics and shows on!
I just wanted other opinions and to see why churches do this and what other relgions do this as well!

I , myself, do not belong to any church, cult, group, club, organization, etc, for exactly this type of thing. It seems every single denomination (division, and there is no division of truth in God's word ), have their own clique thing going on. How many times have we been told things like "Oh, you're going to hell, because you do not attend this or that church" Hogwash. I believe in what God the father says and what Christ says. "My people worship me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me: they teach as doctrine, the traditions of men" And the beat goes on. There is nothing new under the sun.

In fact, my brother Abraham is having troubles with Faith since he said ONLY jews are right and the PROSPERITY is a must to show GOD is blessing (just picking up those "successful" Bible men like Isaac's dad, Joseph, Job, etc)

As I see prosperity movement it means: "God is guilty for poverty." "Poor Christians are unsuccessful and miserables + beggars"., etc. They just blamed God for human's lacks. :(

I hope someday, you do get a generator.....ah, but how are you operating your computer/internet? I do somewhat envy you being detached from the world, so to speak. I hate most everything on tv.....I hate being preached to: that I have to embrace homosexuality, that I have to accept Christians being belittled. That I must buy organically produced foodstuffs, that I must believe in man-made global warming and that my carbon footprint is too large and that I must therefore walk everywhere I go, I cannot use light bulbs as I see fit, that I cannot drive a vehicle that suits my needs and so on. It is no mystery that Isaiah told us that the day would come when everything that is right is called wrong, and everything that is wrong will be called right. Welcome to the future.

yes that is very true!!! as we see fit in this day, all wrong is right, all right is wrong. i completly and sadly agree. the world as once a good place has turned away the truth and found what made it happy leaving the important behind!! which is God.

Ja! Ja!

You made me laughed (thanks).

Back to "the future" you meant? (Just a nice movie)

I need to be detached from those PCs I have at my bedroom (I love them because they spare me time, notebooks and space when I write: An Addiction I have :) )

Most of the computers I use are my client's, though I have one I left at my mother's, when I visit friends or any business that draws me to the city (that's the secular part I'd like to be get ridden of) Ja! Ja!

I agree with you! I'm not quite sure if I am preachy but Iḿ sure I tell my children: "Do not smoke, my dad died from smoking and its cancer". I also tell them: "Don't get drunk and pray that GOD change you to be the ones He likes you to be" (I have no control in their lives).

I'm guilty for global warming (I "invented" the fire... Ja! Ja!) but this year I plan to become a "farmer", to produce some food I will need so soon in Venezuela (imminent shortage of food + money).

The rest is social control, as you probably meant. Here, the communist gov of Venezuela tries to control some bad habits we may have as energy consumers (fuel is not sold in containers, so I would need a car to get the Gas inside my power generator)... They don't enforce the law neither save energy in the public lightning systems and, on the contrary, they are allowing Chinese factories to bring BAD QUALITY products (bulbs of 100 watts, spare parts for machines, part for the job of plumbers and everything) so you would see they are also those who like to preach (giving another "example").

God is ALWAYS RIGHT, it is us who often had failed.
