Pet Peeves

I try not to get peeved anymore. But when I do I’ve been intentionally taking a step back in examination. I’ve been listening to a ministry that actually brings up often the question what do our peeves reveal about us as Christians? What is going on inside us in our spirit when we get cut off in traffic or the checkout line takes longer than we expected, when we get cheated and there is some kind of violation against us. What is our internal reaction and how do we interpret that from a biblical worldview? In those moments is our heart reacting in our flesh or the spirit and how do we begin living daily in the spirit. It’s been quite shocking for me at least and has for me lead to confession and repentance in a bunch of areas in my life.

I could even imagine that an American living in Norway might develop a pet peeve about people back home complaining about high gas prices.

That's a good perspective to keep in mind, at least for maintaining proper balance. We don't want to become people who complain about everything and end up being really emotionally invested in their grievances. But I think it can also be done in a way that maintains some level of humor and not genuine bitterness about the pecularities of human life and the annoying situations that it may bring, and I don't think that's bad. In a way, it can even turn a negative feeling into a positive one.

That's a good perspective to keep in mind, at least for maintaining proper balance. We don't want to become people who complain about everything and end up being really emotionally invested in their grievances. But I think it can also be done in a way that maintains some level of humor and not genuine bitterness about the pecularities of human life and the annoying situations that it may bring, and I don't think that's bad. In a way, it can even turn a negative feeling into a positive one.

Absolutely, I had a good laugh at one this morning. I was in traffic following a piece of heavy equipment on my way to get coffee this morning and I was so impatient I was about ready to pass in a no passing zone with oncoming traffic, internally my thoughts were not good or wholesome but rather it was “how dare this person obstruct my path for coffee”. I was taken back by my impatience and willingness to go to my old ways of doing things . It really was humorous when I caught myself mid thought. The Lord just exposed something in me for my good. Actually by making me slow down just a bit longer God revealed a beautiful sunrise for me this morning 🌄 that looked like a Bob Ross painting . I was like ow…. That’s what you were after God. Thankyou Lord!

I should not probably be bothered but I can’t help it. Slackers at work bothers me because it is unfair for those who are hardworking.

I've encountered this very same thing, and it is definitely annoying.

Fo' real though! If I lived there I would be going out of my way to find ways to go out of my way to bike.
