Has anyone been on a pilgrimage?

A well known one is Camino de Santiago to where St James the Apostle is buried in Spain.
I'm sure there is others, but that's quite a popular one.
If you have been on one, can you share what you encountered on your journey and what you learned from God while walking. Did you fulfil your quest? Did you find the 'Holy Grail'? Were you spiritually changed/revived?

Also, if you've been on that specific one, how many scallop shells did you collect?

Older people also walk the Camino...one of my friends mother walked it in her 70s. She did it with friends. I think they enjoyed it, but they had to pace themselves. It definitely is not without its challenges but the thing is to keep putting one foot in front of the other.

A lady in church spoke about it and she would have been one of those golden oldies who had the time to do it. She said the younger ones were treating it like a race and running it but people do it for all sorts of reasons. If you do do it, have good comfortable walking shoes, and maybe some walking poles/sticks.

Ok maybe I have to think of some Christian places/sites in the US since it appears most people on CC live there.
 
Ok all I got was

Noahs Ark encounter, Kentucky
Salem, Massachussets or Plymouth

There are various churches you can visit, but since every big town has at least a couple of megachurches, I don't imagine there is far to go to any of them. What about that Crystal Cathedral?
