But on a human level if the threat is very real its time for yall to get very real. Plan your escape routes, meeting places, and acts of engagement.
Always escape if necessary but always be prepared if your escape is blocked. Its good to have multiple exits. If you cant escape place hidden weapons around your area that you and your family know but cant see.
To fight is last effort if running isnt possible. If you have to fight remember the eyes and the hands are the weapons. If he has a weapon aim for the hands and the eyes and fight like your trying to kill. Its kill or be killed at that point. Samething with you holding a weapon. Aim your weapon at the hands and eyes. But obviously dont make every swing the same but switch it up aiming for other weak body parts like the knee caps or the sides of the torso. The sides of the torso even on the strongest person doesnt have much muscle. So its easy to bruise ribs and cause kidney damage.
Always remember to yell and make as much noise as possible. Use his body against him. Fingers onlt bend one way, knees only bend one way, kicking someones knee from the side will most likely pop it out of place.
Remember if you lose your weapon your teeth, nails, fists, elbows, knees and legs are all weapons. When being hit protect your head and sides. And if the killer is a man always aim for his genitalia.
At any point its not always about winning but if you hit him good and he goes down... run! Dont stick around he may have friends or the tide may change and you get hurt.
Fight to survive only when escape isnt available. Cant stress that enough. Onlt fight if necessary, no need for heros. Your goal is to live.
Call police as soon as possible.
I would probably be trying to move somewhere safer. Always be prepared and plan for plan b and c once A fails because A will always fail.

Rough, they're living outside.. Where exactly are they supposed to hide weapons, and where do they escape to?
She and her family are homeless, she's afraid, and she is worried also about her marriage. I appreciate a little humor also but given the circumstances your attempt at humor seems a little tacky.
They could be living in a abandoned building for all i know. And in less thier living in a hole there are always ways of escape. If they living on the sidewalk it would be wise to make sure the sidewalk is clear of debree so that whatever opposite direction they run from, they wont trip or fall.
Weapons can be made out of almost anything ask our prisons. Weapons can be hid on the body, in thier cardboard shack or just laying in the bushes near by. The point is idk what thier living situation is. But the point I was pushing was to prepare and have a survival mentality and not a victoms mentality. If you dont train your mind and body then if you ever have to act under pressure the more mistakes you make and the possibility to think or freeze up will get you killed. If your trained and well planned your mind and body react as one using the adrenaline to your advantage but also learning to control the adrenaline and remembering to breath.
Whatever situation they are in. Things can be planned and prepared.

You're in D.C., right? If not, let me know which town/city you ended up in, and I'll find you help there.
If so, and, apparently you still have internet access, (YAY! Good thing), than contact one of these churches -- the one closest to you. I know it doesn't tell much about them on that page, but that's just the gateway page to their different websites. Click "More" for the one closest to you, and then click the link at the top of the page that tells what ministries they have. If they have "Care" or "Help" or "Mercy" or anything similar to those words in their ministries, that's who you want to talk to. Call, if there is a phone number. Go to the church if it's open. (They give hours, so you'll know if they're opened.) Or email if the other two options aren't available.
I don't know them personally, but I am part of the PCA (a denomination in America), and can vouch that those churches will help people when people need help.
No idea what they can do for you, but I suspect they can work toward getting you two off the street. And, I'll be honest, there's three kinds of people who live on the street, but you're one group of them they will help faster.
(Three kinds:
1. People who just lost everything and just landed on the streets.
2. People who have been living on the streets for a while, but don't know they can get off them anymore.
3. People who are insane enough to think living on the streets is the right kind of life to live and don't want to stop.
You are the first kind, so they can help you quicker.)
The problem with not having a home is trying to get work without an address to call home. It's impossible because job applications require addresses. So, you really don't want to live on the street too long (or probably didn't want to land there at all), so it's very important to get the help to get back off them quickly, to regain something of normal life again. Those churches can help, and I can give you an 80% certainty that they will, but go quickly!!!
And, if I'm wrong, and you aren't stuck in beautiful D.C. right now, let me know and I'll find you a church that will help where you are. BTW, PM me if I'm wrong, because I cannot guarantee I'll remember to come back to this page quickly enough for you, but I do see I have PM's.

Yup. You wrote. And now that I know you have shelter (not home, but at least shelter), I'm a little less worried. You can still get help through a church. I just need to know about which part of Washington -- the state -- you're in.
And we all still need to pray God works this out.

I'm thinking AZ is an optimist and thought me finding a church for JSB was the end of living on the streets. Might have been, except I was thinking D.C., and JSB on the other side of the country.Glory to God for what? That they're homeless and trying to avoid a serial killer?
