...... we in the US are at war with radical Islamic extremists?
And that a few Islamic Nations have vowed to wipe the US off the face of the earth? .........
Name ONE.
Not Al Qaeda or Isis or Hamas etc etc but "nations".
Iran.............pre 2000, Iraq.......and a couple of others .............
With the aid of modern technology, you should have NO trouble citing a direct quote from the leader of either country - or even official government policy from either country - which makes such a threat.
Remember now, not just some ratbag fringe group - a nation as you claimed.

All of which is slightly irrelevant.
You seem to be suggesting that ALL one-billion-plus Muslims have this evil intent ?
Bit like saying that all Yanks have the same ideology as the KKK.

Newsflash - thee are millions of 2nd, 3rd, 4th generation Muslims in the USA .... teachers, nurses, lawyers, police, servicemen and women etc etc - many who have lost family members in your endless wars.

I would have thought you would welcome a pledge of allegiance even more so from these innocent folk ... even if it were sworn in Swahili invoking whatever god by whatever name they favoured !?

The Arabic word al ilāh -- literally, "the god" -- is the name adopted for the "god" of Islam, not just by Arabic-speaking peoples, but by Muslims everywhere. So it is your statement here that represents true ignorance.

Surely you are joking or playing a prank.

Whether Muslims use the word Allah or not is irrelevant to the issue of Arabic Christians using the term also. The Arabic language ONLY has the term "Allah" for God.

To "excusively" associate the term "Allah" with Islam is indeed a position of ignorance. Arabic speaking Christians are not Muslims.

The Christians who call God 'Allah'

Muslims in Malaysia have burnt churches in protest at Christians calling their God Allah, but there is a precedent, says Christopher Howse
...
On a non-religious level, it is undeniable that the word for God is translated into different languages. It is not (like Spartacus) a proper name, but it is the word for the supreme being, of whom there can only be one. English-speakers say "God", Frenchmen say "Dieu".

Looking at it from the point of view of language, there is a widespread, quite unconscious, sharing of the word Allah between Muslims and non-Muslims. Maltese people, for example, say Alla for "God", because their language has been deeply moulded by Arabic. The Spanish, who live in territory occupied by Arabic-speakers for 700 years, use the word ojalá to mean "I hope that". I think that most of them are unaware that the word derives from wa sa llah "and God wills".

The problem in Malaysia has erupted among people who do not use Arabic as their first language. No such misunderstanding would be possible between Arabic-speaking Muslims and Arabic-speaking Christians, for whom the only word for God is Allah.

The Arabic word Allah comes from al-ilah, "the god". The word Allah was in use among the people of Mecca before Mohammed announced his message to them. It is found in pre-Islamic poetry and in ancient inscriptions in Arabia. It was used by Christians as their term for God long before Mohammed was born.
The Christians who call God 'Allah' - Telegraph

Is it hard to admit the truth that there are Arabic speaking people who use the term "Allah" for "God" who are not Muslims?

I do not understand why one would be so stubborn in resisting such a simple truth.

Aramaic word for "God" is "AaLaH."

Jesus spoke Aramaic.

The word "Allah" in Arabic has the same linguistic root as the Aramaic "AaLaH," which is "Elohim" in the Hebrew.

Is it not foolish to get one's undies all tied up in a knot over the term "Allah" being used for God in the Pledge of Allegience rendered in Arabic? I certainly think so.

The issue is not what language we speak, rather the issue is whether we KNOW God and love out of a pure heart. Names are just outward descriptions of a very tangible reality.

Of course it's stoopid, Skin.
Only Islamophobes or xenophobes would fall into the trap. Folk whom one might describe as 'radical' or 'fundamentalist'
Oh, hang on, isn't that what they accuse all Muslims of being ?

Now, the bit I don't agree with you about .... :D
"The issue" in a pledge of allegiance is ..... wait for it .... allegiance !
Surely it is an expression of loyalty to one's country ? A commitment.
What language is spoken or what a person calls their god is irrelevant

But I guess that is too difficult for those who believe they are infallible and that only their own beliefs have value.
Frankly, it is just that attitude which defies the spirit of the pledge and diminishes individual freedom.

Many people ought read "Propaganda" by Edward Bernays. It was Bernays who first coined the tern "Public Relations" and and he wrote how the opinions of the majority of people are wrought through the science of public manipulation.

The whole "War on Terror" is clearly such a ruse designed to unify people against a common enemy and thus draw attention away from what is really taking place in the world.

When the previous President of Iran made the infamous statement of "wipe Israel off the map," the context was actually about removing the influence of Political Zionism from the region we know as Israel in the Middle East. It had nothing to do with literally nuking Israel, yet that did not stop the Western media from running with such a misrepresentation.

Anyone can look these things up if they choose to do so.

http://www.nytimes.com/2005/10/30/weekinreview/30iran.html?pagewanted=all&_r=1&

Yet few do. Many would rather just parrot the information they have been spoon fed which "feels right" to them.

One cannot understand Israel without understanding the Anglo-American banking influence which lies at the root of Israel and how Israel is a very powerful means for the such an influence to be directly involved in Middle Eastern affairs.

A nation like Iran, which is not Arabic, is very averse to being dominated by what they perceive as corrupt and immoral western oligarchs. That is the perspective they hold and it is not without merit. I am not saying they are knights in shining armour or that they are the good guys, I am just saying that things are not black and white in this world. Just like in the Donbass region of Ukraine, in Iran we have people whom are opposed to the world dominance of the western banking establishment, especially in their region.

Many people in the Arabic world know full well that the western elites use the United States as their battering ram and they also know full well that Israel is a key to the Middle East. The resistance to such takes many forms, terrorism, conventional warfare, politics, economics. One ought not be surprised at what we see.

We here in the West are fed a constant diet of "we are the good guys and they are the bad guys" when the truth is that EVERYONE is the bad guy and that is why Jesus Christ did not start a political or nationalist movement. Jesus Christ preached repentance and faith and called people to STOP PLAYING THE GAME and instead put up their treasures in heaven.

The United States "Pledge of Allegience" is a pledge to a NATION and is clearly an antichrist pledge. There is no "right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happeniness" in the Bible. There is simply the right to pursue righteousness in loving God and our neighbour. Whether we live or die, own property, or experience happiness are inconsequential. We are to have JOY and PEACE in our hearts. We are merely travelers passing through this world and we ought to be shining lights in contrast to the wickedness exhibited on ALL SIDES of worldly conflicts.

It is so sad that so many people who profess to be followers of Jesus actually follow the rudiments of Babylon and yet cannot even see it.

Look in this thread at how some are offended at the word "Allah" when the word Jesus Himself used for God is CLOSER to what the Arabs call God than to what us English speaks use. We ought to be ashamed of our ignorance.

I want Arabic people to repent and forsake their sins, to be reconciled to God through Jesus Christ. Even the murderers of ISIS. I don't want to see their towns and cities bombed. I don't want to see more men, women and children get maimed and destroyed via my tax dollars (which I believe is actually a misnomer because consolidated revenue serves debt and further debt issuance funds the wars, but that is another story).

Fear - Islam works by labeling everything Islamic. It creates a sense of conquering the unstoppable. The truth is Islam is purely a propoganda machine, set to create this fear as a self fulfilling prophecy.
So saying the pledge of allegiance is any language does not change its meaning but it shows how powerful its message is when people fear or get offended. They will then say, you are offended because you know it is true, rather than it is a legitimate fear when people say "Islam stinks" nutters say "you should die", people do get defensive.
But the truth is Islam causes most harm to its own believers and they are trapped from birth on pain of death to stay within the faith. In their world their is little reality or truth, only loyalty to the cause.

But the weakness of their faith is their behaviour and hypocracy, while claiming they are the best of peoples etc.
So bad is this behaviour, they ban other muslims from saying anything negative about each other.....

Here is something that one will not find being referenced much in the West.

Such a speech does not fit the Western narrative.

Iran is a real independent nation which has achieved a high level of development and such a thing does not fit in with the geopolitical agenda of the western banking elites.

...the powers of financial capitalism had another far-reaching aim, nothing less than to create a world system of financial control in private hands able to dominate the political system of each country and the economy of the world as a whole. This system was to be controlled in a feudalist fashion by the central banks of the world acting in concert, by secret agreements arrived at in frequent private meetings and conferences. The apex of the system was to be the Bank for International Settlements in Basel, Switzerland, a private bank owned and controlled by the world's central banks which were themselves private corporations. Each central bank, in the hands of men like Montagu Norman of the Bank of England, Benjamin Strong of the New York Federal Reserve Bank, Charles Rist of the Bank of France, and Hjalmar Schacht of the Reichsbank, sought to dominate its government by its ability to control Treasury loans, to manipulate foreign exchanges, to influence the level of economic activity in the country, and to influence cooperative politicians by subsequent economic rewards in the business world.

In each country the power of the central bank rests largely on its control of credit and money supply. In the world as a whole the power of the central bankers rested very largely on their control of loans and of gold flows. In the final days of the system, these central bankers were able to mobilize resources to assist each other through the B.I.S., where payments between central banks could be made by bookkeeping adjustments between the accounts which the central banks of the world kept there. The B.I.S. as a private institution was owned by the seven chief central banks and operated by the heads of these, who together formed its governing board.

...

The B.I.S. is generally regarded as the apex of the structure of financial capitalism whose remote origins go back to the creation of the Bank of England in 1694 and the Bank of France in 1803. As a matter of fact its establishment is 1929 was rather an indiciation that the centralized world financial system of 1914 was in decline. It was set up rather to remedy the decline of London as the world's financial center by providing a mechanism by which a world with three financial centers in London, New York, and Paris could still operate as one. The B.I.S. was a vain effort to cope with the problems arising from the growth of a number of centers. It was intended to be the world cartel of ever-growing national financial powers by assembling the nominal heads of these national financial centers.

Iran so far has refused to submit themselves to the control of the Western banking system and due to this the West lacks much leverage over their internal policies. It therefore makes sense to demonise Iran as a threat in order to legitimise action which circumvents their independence.

Any understanding of the Middle East cannot be wrought via being ignorant of the larger context of geopolitics and how Iran and the Middle East fit into that.

Iran is crazy, a dictatorship by religious clerics, who claim Islam has no heirarchy and is open between the believer and God, unless ofcourse you disagree with the heirarchy which means in actual terms blasphemy, imprisonment or death.
Iran has pledged to destroy Israel, supports terrorist organisations who have murdered and butchered there way through Lebannon. Iran with a nuclear bomb is insanity. It is with good reason the whole world community does not want this.

The best answer they give is its a illuminati plot to overthrow and enslave the world, which Iran is valiantly fighting.
This kind of insanity is why Iran has been left out of the world community, because it does not deal with how it is run, but wishes to paint those outside its borders as evil and the enemy. This is why there was a revolution in Iran which was quashed because this way of governing is neither sane or works. But that does not matter to them, because the word Islam shia style is all that matters and possibly the Mehdi which some think creating a world war will bring quicker.

Aramaic word for "God" is "AaLaH."

http://www.peshitta.org/cgi-bin/lexicon.cgi

Jesus spoke Aramaic.
Wrong on all but the last count, and it is irrelevant.

1. The Aramaic word for "God" is hhla ('elahh), and is used only in late Hebrew writings (Ezra 5:1, 11; 6:14; 7:12, 19, 21, 23; Daniel 2:18, 23, 28, 37, 44f, 47; 3:15, 28f; 6:8, 13 ), no where in the New Testament. Therefore, Jesus couldn't have used the word.

2. I don't know what you're trying to pull with that crap you quote within your post, but it makes the claim the word you say Jesus used is "word number 904." Whose numbering system? Strong's number 904 is !tgb (Bigthan), the name of a eunuch in king Ahasuerus' (Xerxes) court.

3. We don't know what word Jesus used to reference God the Father because the New Testament was written in Greek. Jesus is not quoted in Aramaic, except in the gospel of the tax collector.

Matthew 27, NASB
46 About the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, "ELI, ELI, LAMA SABACHTHANI?" that is, "MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME?"

The word throughout the rest of the New Testament is the Greek qeoß (Theos). Most likely, the word used by Jesus in speak Aramaic was the old Hebrew word ~yhla ('elohym).

Is not "world community" a propagandist term? Is Iran really crazy?

Is not China, North Korea, Israek, Great Britain, USA, Russia, India and Pakistan with nukes not already insanity?

Do not western governments support "family planning" (ie. infant in womb murder) in Africa and their own countries? Have not western governments backed "butchery and murder" when it has served their overall agenda?

There is no "we are the good guys" and "they are the bad guys" in all this. We (our nations) are ALL the bad guys and it will remain so because in general people refuse to repent of their sins and instead choose to play the blame game.

Think for a moment how many in Iran view the United States. They view the United States as the epitome of hypocrisy, a nation which preaches "freedom and democracy" and "peace and security" and yet in reality a nation which supports the murder of infants, a nation which supports tryants when it suits them and condemns them when it doesn't. A nation which bullies other nations with its dollar hegemony and a nation which espouses that it knows what is best for everyone else.

Look at this attitude...

George Friedman: The United States has a fundamental interest, it controls all the oceans of the world, no power has ever done that. Because of that, we get to invade people and they don't get to invade us, that is a very nice thing. Maintaining control of the sea and control of space is the foundation of our power. The best way to defeat an enemy fleet is to not let it be built. The way the British managed to make certain that no European power could built a fleet is to make sure that the Europeans were at each others throats. The policy that I would recommend is the one that Ronald Reagan adopted toward Iran and Iraq. He funded both sides, so they would fight each other and not fight us. This was cynical, it was certainly not moral, it worked. And this is the point: the United States cannot occupy Eurasia, the moment the first boots hits the ground, the demographic differential is that we are totally outnumbered. We can defeat an army, we cannot occupy Iraq, the idea that 130.000 men would occupy a country of 25 million. Well the ratio in New York of cops to citizens was greater than we had deployed in Iraq. So, we don't have the ability to go across, but we do have the ability to first: support various contending powers so they are concentrated on themselves with political support, some economic support, military support, advisers and in extremis do what we did in Japan, I mean in Vietnam, in Iraq and in Afghanistan. With spoiling attacks, the spoiling attack is not intended to defeat the enemy, it is intended to throw them of balance. What we did in each of these wars, in Afghanistan for example we threw Al Qaida of balance. The problem we have since we are young and stupid is that having thrown them of balance instead of saying 'ok, job well done, let's go home'. We said 'well that was easy, why don't we build a democracy here'. This was the moment of dementia that came in. The answer therefore is, the United States cannot constantly be intervening throughout Eurasia. It must be selectively intervening and very rarely, that is the extreme moment, we cannot as the first step send American troops. And when we send American troops, we have to truly understand what the mission is, limit to that and not to develop all sorts of psychotic fantasies. So hopefully we have learned that this time, it takes a while for kids to learn lessons. But I think you are absolutely right, we cannot as an empire do that. Britain didn't occupy India, it took various Indian states and turned them against each other and provided some British officers for an Indian army. The Romans did not sent vast armies out there, it placed kings. Various kings were created under the emperor and those kings were responsible for maintaining the peace, Pontius Pilate was one example. So empires that are directly governed by the empire like the Nazi Empire failed. No one has that much power. You have to have a level of cleverness. However, our problem is not yet that, it is actually admitting that we have an empire. So we haven't even gotten to that point were we don't think that we can go home and it will be over and done.

That is the same attitude that Zbigniew Brzezinski espouses in his book "The Grand Chessboard" and in many of the speeches he has given over the years.

Do you know who Zbigniew Brzezinski is? He is the main political advisor to President Obama and he has a long history of being an administrative advisor.

Is it any wonder that there are many people in the Middle East and elsewhere who view the U.S. as the Great Satan?

I don't think so. Yet it is so easy to pretend that "they are the bad guys" and "we are the good guys." It is all a lie.

It is rebellious humanity which is the bad guy and that bad guy is broken up into factions which war in various means. The only solution is in contending for righteousness, not for "isms" or "nations." The task of the genuine Christian is to preach the Gospel by calling people to a repentance from sin and being reconciled to God through Jesus Christ. Everything else is vanity which is why I often like to point out the hypocrisy of the game which people play.

The best answer they give is its a illuminati plot to overthrow and enslave the world, which Iran is valiantly fighting.
This sort of statement is a misrepresentation. There actually is an Illuminati but it is not what most people think it is. The Illuminati has plotted to overthrow the institutions of the world and bring it into order under their own. Such things have been extensively written about both in occult, historical, economic and political literature. It is no accident that occult symbolism is used extensively in this world.

Iran is simply looking out for their own interests from their own perspective. It is just as corrupt as any other country.

Imagine a world where there was no western hypocrisy. A world where there was no fraudulent debt based monetary system necessitating continuing growth in order to maintain perpetually compounding interest payment. A world where people actually loved one another and did not seek to get one over their brother in selfishness. Now that might be a world which Iran could not legitimately present as "evil" but alas such is not the case is it?

No. Instead we have a conflict of world views, a conflict of agendas. The dominant agenda, backed by the structure empowered by the global monetary unit and the banking system from which it was born, holds the majority of information outlets within its sway. It is no wonder that something like "world opinion" can be mobilised to support the dominant agenda via the painting of minorities in opposition as evil. How sad.

Vigilante Warrior,

I didn't say that is the word Jesus used. I stated that the Arabic "Allah" and the Aramaic "AaLaH" have the same root in "Elohim." I also stated that Jesus spoke Aramaic which is true. I don't know what word Jesus used because I was not there, He could have mixed in other languages and even utilised a local dialect. Who knows and it doesn't even matter. The fact is that "Allah" IS NOT exclusive to Islam. That is a verifiable fact.

Somehow, yet again, you completely miss the point of what I posted. Completely.

Here is your earlier statement...

The use of the word "Allah" is not proper when referring to the God of the Bible, whether you agree or not.

Why isn't it proper for an Arabic speaking person to use the word "Allah" ? What else do you expect them to do? Speak English or something? That statement of yours is foolishness.

The point I was making is that it ought not matter the term one uses for "God" in their respective language. Words are mere representations of abstract and tangible concepts which we utilise to communicate to communicate with others as well as order out own thinking.

I am sure you don't support the likes of movements like this...

Sacred Name Movement - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

...if not then why espouse the same kind of logic as it relates to the Arabic use of the term "Allah"?

There is NOTHING WRONG with an Arabic speaking person using the word "Allah" for God because in Arabic the word for "God" is "Allah." The claim that one ought not use the term because one EXCLUSIVELY associates the term with the false god of Islam demonstrates the utter ignorance of the one who does so.

I actually think you intentionally ignore the clear points I have made because a rebuttal of any form gives you some form of comfort. That would explain why in one of the Ukraine threads you just "had to oppose" what I posted simply because I posted it, which is why you grabbed the first thing you found, without actually establishing its factual basis, and served it up to prove me in error.

We are all in error in some regard and yet it is through being honest with ourselves that we can receive correction and thus learn and grow.

Regardless of how you want to claim it, the word "allah" does not appear in the Bible, or in the Hebrew language. Period. End of story.

Yet again, for probably the sixth time I've said it on this thread, "Allah" is the preferred name for the god of Islam, both inside and outside the Arab-speaking world. Therefore, using the word to identify the God of the Bible identifies the God of the Bible with the demon masquerading as a "god" to the Muslim. That is an affront to God, and an affront to all who belong to Him.

That's the last time I'm gonna say it. Y'all can agree or not, no skin off my nose -- no pun intended.

Allah is just God in Arabic, a good literal translation as you may can see from the two other Semitic languages (Elah in Aramaic, and Eloah in Hebrew, which looks and sounds very close). The word we use "God" isn't really a good translation (or a translation at all) to be honest and should be more bothersome than Allah. Yes, I am a language buff :D

And the school was saying the pledge in many languages that week. I can see why it bothered people, but really how does one feel about the pledge being said in Spanish, French, Cherokee, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Hindi, Hebrew...? It's a language and represents one of many people, Americans, in our country in our country. I think it would be pretty cool to have that done at a school!

I looked for this, and I can't find where they said the Pledge in any other language.......just saying. But that isn't the point. The Pledge should be recited in English when it is presented to the entire student body.

Too bad your not very good at it, no offense.

In Aramaic, it is laiiun ('eli), in Hebrew, la ('el). There is no word even close to "Allah" in either language, though for sound, the previously mentioned hhla ('elahh), comes closest, but it was only used biblically in Ezra and Daniel, also as previously mentioned.

There is a word phonetically pronounced 'alawhn.
It means "oak."

As to our English word "God," it is Germanic in origin, the word being "Gott." It was originated by Christians to reference the biblical God of the universe. And you said you're a language buff??

QUOTE:

And the school was saying the pledge in many languages that week. I can see why it bothered people, but really how does one feel about the pledge being said in Spanish, French, Cherokee, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Hindi, Hebrew...? It's a language and represents one of many people, Americans, in our country in our country. I think it would be pretty cool to have that done at a school!

END QUOTE:

I looked for this, and I can't find where they said the Pledge in any other language.......just saying. But that isn't the point. The Pledge should be recited in English when it is presented to the entire student body.

I heard on a news report that they did....but we all know how faulty the news can be :)

As I understood it, they PLANNED to do something like this as part of their Foreign Language classes........but they started with Arabic.............and things just didn't go as they planned.............

Had they simply limited this exercise to the Foreign Language classes, it would probably not have caused such a stink.

The term "Allah" is used by Christians in Arab countries.

The term "Dios" is used by Christians in Spain.

Would it be a bother if a Spanish speaker in the U.S. used the word "Dios" as opposed to "God"?

Think about it.

God and Allah are not the same in English. They are not interchangeable. They are two different entities. Gods name should be used, Allah denotes something entirely different in this country.
