But that is the Catholic Hell. You can find no clear statement of it in the Bible which does NOT teach the immortality of the soul
Are you saying the damned are destroyed as if they never existed?
That's going to make a lot of Catholics breathe easier for a while. Their doctrine of purgatory has always given them a back door through which they will sneak into heaven.

A place of Catholic proportions possibly? Can someone tell me what "Catholic Hell" is?
Smart aleck moment again!...Only bodies can have mortality or immortality. But souls are imperishable and eternal, therefore they have eternal destinies.
Purgatory is necessary because rarely does a person die with their sanctification complete. We must be completely conformed to Christ before we can be admitted into heaven. Nothing impure can enter heaven. There are no stinking masses of sin covered in a robe of Christ's righteousness in heaven. Only when every last attachment to sin is purged will that soul go to heaven.
And absolutely no requirement for it...
Greetings Metternich,
I'm afraid that you don't understand what Christ did for us. Once a person receives Christ, they are cleansed of all sin past, present and future as they continue from faith to faith. As the scripture says, "whoever has the Son has life, whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life." Therefore, from the time we receive Christ, there is no attachments of sin that need to be purged before we can enter into heaven, because the believer is cleansed of all sin through faith in Christ.
"If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us."
Sanctification is the process of being transformed into His image, i.e. being made holy, which is a life-long process, however, God already sees the believer as righteous because His Son is righteous of whom we are believing in.
When an individual has faith in Christ, they are credited with His righteousness and have been reconciled to God, who looks at the believer through the spectacles of Christ and sees us with His righteousness.
Jesus' fulfillment of the law is applied to every believer as completely satisfied.
Likewise, God's wrath that every believer deserves as a result of sin was poured out on Christ, satisfying it completely and fully, so that the wrath of God no longer rests upon the one having faith.
Also, there is no such thing as Purgatory. The believer has the promise of eternal life in the kingdom of God and there is death, which is separation from God in punishment in the lake of fire. One is ether in Christ and saved or they are not in Christ and are lost, there is no purging of sins after one dies.

Forgive me for not knowing scripture as well as you. What verse is this and what are you saying?
I would like to see one verse that states "THE CHURCH" is the restrainer......let us take this logic to the fullest extent uing the verse that everyone uses to prove this.....
Before we look at it..ALMOST ALL say the church is the BRIDE of CHRIST....JESUS is male and BY DEFAULT if THE CHURCH is the BRIDE then the church must BE A SHE because the bible does not promote gay marriage or homosexualism....
NOTE the VERSE....SO....explain the personal PRONOUN HE and JIVE that with BRIDE!!!!
Berean Study Bible
For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work, but the one who now restrains it will continue until he is taken out of the way.
Berean Literal Bible
For the mystery of lawlessness is working already; there is only the one at present restraining it, until he might be gone out of the midst.
New American Standard Bible
For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way.
King James Bible
For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
Proverbs says a righteous man falls seven times but gets up. So saved people do sin. Don't you have habitual sins that you seem to fall into routinely.
Jesus did not fall seven times. He never fell.
sanctification must be completed so that we are totally conformed to Christ.
Proverbs says a righteous man falls seven times but gets up. So saved people do sin. Don't you have habitual sins that you seem to fall into routinely. You basically said all men do in your post. But Jesus did not fall seven times. He never fell. I am just saying on our last day on this earth we will fall at least seven times and after death our sanctification must be completed so that we are totally conformed to Christ.
If "saved people do not sin" then we would all be lost, because God has already said that there is none righteous, no not one.
The only way a man can fall short of the glory of God is if he believed he was, or could become equal with the eternal God. As written, Jesus didn't come to call the righteous to repentance but sinners, who he describes as being those who do the lusts of their father the devil who was a liar from the beginning and abode not in the truth. All have sinned, all fall short of the glory of God."
Forgive me for not knowing scripture as well as you but what verse are you quoting and what are you saying?
