Thank you for the reminder Lord... Forgive them, for the majority know not what you do...

Lol, now that you point that out , ya… I can see that…
On the ohter hand, I suspect that if the focus is upon 'expectations', while we will often interact with all walks of life where some tend to be more contentious than others - I read it as a 'be prepared to do good in everything' - but don't expect everyone to respond as positively as you would hope... ie having 'no expectations' of others prepares us for the inevitable negative interactions... But or by having no expectations - we might be better inclined to not take those negative responses personally...

When I read it I am reminded of the ol' Mother Teresa quote:

"People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered.
Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.
Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies.
Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you.
Be honest and frank anyway.
What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight.
Build anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous.
Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow.
Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough.
Give the best you've got anyway.
You see, in the final analysis it is between you and God;
it was never between you and them anyway."
Personally experienced or agree with literally everything in your lovely comment. Did have a strange, quite troubling childhood but i wouldn't wish it away for anything, because it taught me so much.

One of the most true adages to me is walk a mile in my shoes. Sure we can judge/condemn an action but not people, point the finger and it's guaranteed many have the right to point at you. Which doesn't mean we should tolerate wicked behaviour, if you aren't the type to get angry easily, it's usually possible to find a solution, even if it's just walk away. I think holding grudges is really harmful and that the world is now a very angry, frightened place. I'm a pretty new Christian and so appreciate that the problems which made me fear for my children's future, are in the hands of the LORD, only he can and will sort the nightmare out.

Grrr! Waiting for the humidity to drop before running my bath :cautious:

Having the ability to conduct genuine self reflection while growing and learning along the way, is indeed a blessing of itself…. Trust that our Lord has a masterful plan for you and it is HE that has led you to your place of discernment today…
Striving to follow HIS Will and not our own is the steadfast ambition…
