Healing IS actually part of the atonement and IS actually scriptural... it has nothing to do with word faith or television preachers (who play like you can be healed only if you support their ministry), or christian science, etc, etc.
But if you do not believe what God promises concerning health and healing, then don't bother praying for something you do not believe is God's will? Why???
If you are one of those that believe God teaches people thru sickness (rather then thru the Holy Spirit and the written Word)... how do you know it's not god's will that you are to be sick (I left god in small letters on purpose because the Living God is merciful and desires to provide all that we need and be our Sole source of Supply for all we need).
Here's what God's Word says about healing... take it or leave it... it's GOD's Word!!!
Romans 8:11
But IF the Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you (allowed to live in us), He that raised up Jesus Christ from the dead shall also quicken (energize, make alive) your mortal body by His Spirit that lives in you. (see 2 Corinthians 3:17 – where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty, freedom!)
1 Peter 2:24
Jesus carried our sins in his own body on the cross, so that we, being dead to sin, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes you were healed.
Matthew 8:17
That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.
Isaiah 53:4, 5
Jesus has carried our grief (pain, anxiety, calamity, disease, sickness), and carried our sorrows (anguish, affliction, feelings of pain, sadness and sorrow): yet we did esteem Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted....but He was wounded (to wound, to break, be slain or killed) for our transgressions, He was bruised (crush, destroy, oppress, to collapse) for our iniquities: the punishment (violence, rebuke) of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed. (He took our wounds, so we could take his wholeness & health in every area of life)
Proverbs 4:20-23
Attend to My words; incline your ear unto My sayings....let them not depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart....for they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh....keep your heart with all diligence; for out of it flow the forces of life.
James 5:15
The prayer of faith shall save the sick (from being sick!)
Exodus 15:26
If you will diligently listen to the voice of the LORD your God, and will do that which is right in His sight, and will give ear to His commandments, and keep all His statutes, I will not put any diseases upon you, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that heals you.
Exodus 23:24-26
You shall not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor do their works: but you shall utterly overthrow them, and destroy their images.
And you shall serve Adonai your God, and He shall bless your food and drink; and I will take sickness away from the midst of you.
There shall nothing cast their young, nor be barren, in thy land: and you will live out the full span of your lives.

First I do believe in healing! but it is NOT covered in the atonement. If you knew anything about heremeneutics, and the original languages you would see how untenable your propositions are. Instead of using these ridiculous paraphrases, which do not actually reflect either the intent or words in the original languages. I will post a link later on to a full post I did on this. Not that you will believe something that is against what you have been brainswashed into believing!
I ask for prayer, because many times God has touched my body! Since I posted this, one shoulder popped back into place. The pain has diminished tremendously, for which I praise God. I've been suffering for weeks.
Now, I just need the other shoulder to pop back into place, so I can use that arm again. My knees were in agony last night, this morning they are much improved! Praise the Lord for that!
The left hand tendon flares have also subsided, which means I will hopefully be able to play flute in our worship team tomorrow morning at church. Praise the Lord for that answer to prayer!
So, it has been so fruitful to post here, and to God at work in my life.
As for this nonsense about claiming healing, I went through this 18 years ago, when I first got sick. I was put under terrrible condemnation by some Word Faith friends because I wasn't healed. I was told I didn't have enough faith, I was being demon possessed and to rebuke all claims that I was sick. At this point I was misdiagnosed, and didn't even have any meds to help me through this terrible disease. And all I got was condemnation instead of support in my suffering. It drove me away from God. I felt guilty because I had not been healed (and these people prayed for me, laying on of hands etc!) like I had failed God. So I was physically sick, and I became spiritually sick. What a dreadful theology, that condemns and kicks people when they are already down. And so little evidence to back it up, let alone a proper exegesis of the texts!
So I spent two years with my face turned to the wall, like Hezekiah! I stopped reading my bible for the first time since I was saved 25 years earlier. I stopped going to church, I felt like an outcast. But God never left me. He encouraged me to read the Psalms. I finally picked up my Bible and read 5 Psalms a day, and God ministered to me in an incredible way. He showed me that in this world, after the Fall, we live in a broken and hurting world. He called me to a ministry to the broken and hurting. He gave me a ministry reconciling people who others have judged and condemned, because of a heinous and warped theology, which blames the victim for sickness, rather than the state of the world, until Jesus returns.
I went to seminary and became a chaplain in long term care, which I loved. But God pulled me back again from that ministry, and he is leading me into other areas of ministry, including rebuking the lies of the Word Faith movement.
As for the two friends who judged and condemned me for not being healed. One got ordained as a minister with Kenneth Copeland. She started a Word Faith Church, brought many people to the Lord. Then she got breast cancer, and decided to forgo chemo, because she claimed God had healed her. Her whole Word Faith church claimed she was healed, as she got sicker and sicker. She died about 10 months later, when the cancer metastized to her brain, and drove her insane. THAT is the result of the Word Faith heresy! Her church, of course, fell apart! If the preacher could not be healed, was there any validity in the claims of the Word Faith movement? No!
The other friend, an elderly man, had a friend who was not Word Faith drive him to the doctor, when he almost died from an enlarged prostate. They operated, and he is alive and serving God at age 86 today. His attitude changed quite a bit, too!
So please drop this garbage on this terrible heresy. This is my thread! People have graciously offered to pray for me, and those prayers are being answered in God's way, not in some narrow heretical doctrinal way.
Thanks so much for all who prayed, I am feeling so much better today. Continue to pray that the right shoulder will pop back in before I have to go see a physiotherapist. And that the meds will get back to working well, like they were!
