Does no one have the gift of interpretation of tongues?

Perhaps it's not one of the tongues given. Maybe this will help. This one kind of sounds like Harry Potter language, so it should be readily interpreted by the endowed.

This kind of trick may have worked in the days before Google Translate, but not today. It's simply Ezekial chapters 33-36, and you scrolled down to the "Chinese Union Version" at biblegateway.com and copied and pasted it. What kind of simpletons do you take us for?
I think the Chinese characters made it impossible to see the reply made here.

Depends what prophecy is defined as.

If someone makes a vague statement about something happening at some point in the future then it's more than likely going to happen, or someone will want to make it happen.

To me I'd accept a prophecy as valid it was specific about the event, the place or the person and was specific with the time.

No symbolism or interpretation. I want my prophecies concise and and measurable.

Self fulfilling ones are powerful though. Like that one about the bank in America. It was a normal day, but for no real reason there were more people queuing in the bank that day than usual. Someone spotted this and thought the bank was closing! So he told everyone in town, they in turn rushed to the bank to withdraw their money resulting in the foretold closure of the bank.

It's prophet, in Thai. No one needs the gift of tongues when we have access to Google Translate. Please stop faking a spiritual gift. It's getting embarrassing.

The thing is how this word is used in context here and there. What most people here have in their mind is 1st Corinthians 15:. Following the subject there, the word prophesy , just means to communication Gods message to people, to teach with edification, to exhortation, and comfort. If there is not communication between people, in love naturally, non of these things are accomplished.

The confusion is, this does not mean to get a divine revelation today, because like you said, everything is written. If people do have a dream, its a personal nature to get your life in order. But does not effect the scriptures. We ""teach"" to edifty the church with the prophets; that means God's written word.[/QUOTEhe Why do the scriptures say that (john 21:25) that not even the world itself could not contain all the books that should be written if the bible is the exhaustive source of revelation? And what is the connection you make with scripture and prophesy. is there a scripture that says all scripture is prophesy?? And this Great spirit of God who inspired the scriptures, is it not the same God who wills and works within us trough the measure of the gift of Christ within us??Even as it says that it is worse to reject Gods voice which speech s than to reject his written word. I study the word every day and am fed by it. But frankly if comparing a college student say...studying physics and graduated with a comparable knowledge that I have seen many on here have concerning the bible, they would never get a job and if they did would be quit dangerous. So if I were you I would except all the help offeredby the body of Christ through the gifts given every member.

When you receive a word from God you should first confirm it with the Word of God. I like to just put my thumb in the bible and find what God has to say. Prophecy really comes from the bible. I do think though that He can talk to you in dreams. To have the gift of prophecy you just need to ask for it. But be prepared to wait if that is His plan for you. The dreaming can be confusing to, and if you don't confirm it by asking Him and His word then sometime you can confuse warnings with the right path to choose. It is a really confusing gift. These are the end times though and I trust His word when it says that he will pour all his gifts out to his people in the end times.

This is a good question, Now every time I take a spiritual gift test which I used to often to get clarification I always get Prophesy, faith and shepherd each and every time. Now if this is true then Great but my main concern is to develop a much deeper relationship with God. However I don't know if having the gift of prophesy makes you a prophet because I cannot see myself a prophet

You've got to be careful with those spiritual gifts tests. Usually, they are self-assessments, which means they are your own view of yourself, not necessarily reality. :) Another problem is sometimes the one who makes it doesn't know what he's talking about. They may design questions based on the faulty premise the confronting error makes one a prophet, or that doing 'new things' makes one an apostle.

I met a new believer who was really depressed about having gotten a spiritual gift test back that just said he could fix things around the church. He was a plumber, but he just found that depressing. He'd had a problem with depression. I tried to tell him it was just a test.

Moses probably would have 'failed' a spiritual gift test, too. He didn't see himself as the prophet type. He didn't think he could even talk.

A year later, I saw the same young man who was excited, saying God was using him, how he was going around sharing with people and praying with them.

I believe that God clearly states in Scripture that there will be prophets in the Last Days. This proves that there will be prophets after the Canon of Scripture has already been complete. This disproves the assumption that the "sign gifts" were only to validate the authors of Scripture.

On the other hand, this does not prove that God has any prophets on earth today.

I have tested many modern prophets, and have yet to find one that is true. I will not limit God's ways (like many do), but I also am very skeptical of those who profess to be prophets (as the Bible instructs us to be).

Please do not EVER take a prophets word to be a word from God, unless you have tested the prophecy against Scripture, and have tested the prophet themselves. There are many false prophets and false teachers in the world, and few (if any) prophets of the one true God being used today.

2 And it shall come to pass in that day,” saith the Lord of hosts, “that I will cut off the names of the idols out of the land, and they shall no more be remembered; and also I will cause the prophets and the unclean spirit to pass out of the land.

3 And it shall come to pass that when any shall yet prophesy, then his father and his mother who begot him shall say unto him, ‘Thou shalt not live, for thou speakest lies in the name of the Lord’; and his father and his mother who begot him shall thrust him through when he prophesieth.

4 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the prophets shall be ashamed every one of his vision when he hath prophesied; neither shall they wear a garment of hair to deceive.

5 But he shall say, ‘I am no prophet; I am a husbandman, for man taught me to keep cattle from my youth

And you believe this prophecy has been fulfilled?!
For this to be applicable today, there must be no impurity in Israel; no idolatry, no false teaching, no sin.
This is a prophecy for either the "millennial kingdom" or for New Jerusalem.

Luk 16:16
The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.

Is John still alive? If the prophets were only until John how can there still be prophets?
Hello doulos! Because that Luke passage was not referring to the gift of prophecy. It says it quite clearly in 1 Cor. 12. The church received the gifts OF the Holy Spirit AFTER we were given the Holy Spirit. Those menbefore John did not have the gifts of the Spirit.

There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. [SUP]5 [/SUP]There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. [SUP]6 [/SUP]There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work. [SUP]7 [/SUP]Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. [SUP]8 [/SUP]To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, [SUP]9 [/SUP]to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, [SUP]10 [/SUP]to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues,[SUP][a][/SUP] and to still another the interpretation of tongues.[SUP][b][/SUP] [SUP]11 [/SUP]All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.

Well, then I would say that your interpretation of I Cor. 13 is exactly and precisely wrong and out of context.

Not that being wrong and out of context is not common; it is common.
Hello 1disciple, Good point! So, since being wrong is common,... could you possibly be the one who is wrong? Maybe it's you that misunderstands the Bible about prophecy? Or is that impossible?

But common isn't what we're after. We're after truth.
Amen! He said we will "know" the truth, and that truth will set us free. We have an enemy who works hard to ensure that we don't "know" the truth. (Know here is used as in Genesis' to "know" his wife iirc)

You might want to give it another read or two.
We all should give it more attention. It's a bit confusing at first but gets clearer and clearer as we study. Sometimes I can understand it better than others.

I don't think 'skeptical' is the right word for obeying 'Despise not prophesyings. Prove all things. Hold fast to that which is good.'

Being skeptical is not the same as despising.
I am skeptical of unicorns, but I don't despise them.

Blind acceptance of prophecy, without testing it... this practice goes against Scripture!
I know that many of you do this every week in your church services, because I was raised in a church like that, and have been to many churches doing this.
-A person gets up to speak about what God "told them to say", and no one questions it. Or one will speak in tongues without an interpretation, and the service continues as if it was fine. Or if there is an interpretation, no one ever tests the interpretation. The Bible instructs that any who do these things, they are to sit and remain silent in the assembly.

I have seen many "charismatic" churches insulting God by speaking in His Name without the Spirit of Truth, and then denying the gospel itself by adding requirements to salvation above simple trust in Christ.

I do not deny that God can and will use prophecy to speak to humanity. I do not reject any prophecy on principle, but I will always diligently test the prophet and prophecy, and reject whatever fails to adhere to what is written in Scripture.
If you have a prophet that you believe is from God, send me a message from them, so I can test it. I will rejoice with exceeding joy and renewed assurance on the day that I hear a Word from the Lord that is not only the quoting of Scripture.

1 John 4:1-3 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.2 By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God,3 and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already.

Deuteronomy 18:20-22

But the prophet who presumes to speak a word in my name that I have not commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that same prophet shall die.’ And if you say in your heart, ‘How may we know the word that the Lord has not spoken?’— when a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the word does not come to pass or come true, that is a word that the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously. You need not be afraid of him.
