Just curious, do you people honestly think that fullness of God can be contained in one Book? That's all I keep hearing from you.

And for the record, purgatory IS real. I'll get into it more when I get home tonight. I'm just at work. But it seems so many of us have different views on this. Some Protestants, including my girlfriend, know there is a cleansing place. They just don't call it Purgatory. It's just a different name, but that place is real folks. Peace.
Been there? Is this an eyewitness account?

Hey bro, Long time no see!! Glad your still up and about.

Not to argue with you or anything, Hope you understand.

there is a cleansing place. It is called the cross. It happened 20000 years ago. And it is the only place we can go to for forgiveness, For it (the blood of Christ) is the only thing which can cleanse us from ALL sin.

President Harry Truman was accused of giving people "hell", he said, “I never give them hell. I just tell the truth and they think it's hell.”

[h=3]Ecclesiastes 12:7
And the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.

[/h][h=3]Genesis 3:19
By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return.

Were does it say we go to a holding place? or purgatory is mentioned in the bible?

I do not deny you your opinion on this matter but here in the USA there is nothing real consistent about the "church's" teaching. When asked if they are saved most will profess to be catholic before anything else. Salvation is not works based. This is the one thread that I see in the catholic church. The church teaches grace is received by the sacraments which must be repeated many times over. The mass is a rite in which Christ is crucified afresh every time it is done. Check that with Hebrews 6:6. Transubstanciation is another teaching of the church that is patently false. The pope as the vicar of Christ is another that is accepted by some and rejected by others. The inerrancy of the word of God is another doctrinal issue with the church in that only they can interpret it. You cannot accept tradition when it has historically been so opposed to the scriptures. God did not inspire the traditions but the scriptures. The pope cannot speak for God ex cathedra. There is no new revelation due the church.
Anyone depending on the catholic church to save them is eternally lost. Make no mistake about it. There are no catholics who are secure in their knowledge of heaven. The closer they get to eternity the spookier they get about it. No peace in their hearts. I could go on but it's already more than we can address here.
Luke 16 teaches that purgatory is permanent. Those who are there cannot pass between. Luke 16:26 and those words are from the lips of Jesus whose credibility cannot be impeached.

ok when talking to Catholics about the Church's teachings, you shouldn't use that as part of your prosecution about the Church's teachings cz a lot of Catholics don't fully know the Church's teachings, myself included, which is understandable cz there's 2000 years worth of study of Scripture and guidance from the Holy Spirit there. To talk about Her teachings, you need to know them and talk about them and them alone. Catholics can be uninformed about some of the church's teachings just like a lot of Protestants are. And brother, have you studied the Mass and Sacraments to understand their significance? Or transubstanciation for that matter? I really am trying to not sound agro or anything so please don't think I'm trying to be rude in how I talk. And the pope being the vicar of Christ is obviously misunderstood by many, much less Protestants.
The reason we get "spookier" the closer we get to heaven is because we are taught humility and humbleness. Who am I that I should think I'm worthy enough to spend eternity with God and be so sure about it? It's like saying to God "I believe in you so you're bringing me to you whether you like it or not, no matter what I do here on earth". I'm sorry brother, I see you as a brother truly, but I will never accept your method of salvation. Salvation comes through Faith first and foremost, but our works here on earth can very easily take it away if not acted in love. You say "secure in their knowledge of heaven", when you are so secure in that knowledge, when you think you know it all, then danger lurks. Hell for me would be the absence of God for eternity. What worse could there be? the desire to be with Him but cant be would be like a raging fire. Dont you think? God bless

I will never agree that GOD is fully contained in a book. The Almighty Creator. No way

HEYYYYYYYY BROTHER ETERNALLY GRATEFUL. I missed you bro! How have you been? Yeh, look I agree, but for me the Crucifixion goes a lot deeper than that. There's more to it than that I think. I'm chatting off my iPhone right now and it's really annoying cz my fingers are too big for the key pad lol I should have my home Internet bill payed Friday I hope. So I'll keep this short for now. LOVE YOU MAN! God bless and guide you my bro.

LOL @ Bryancampbell!

The same can be asked about your views on the Catholic Church. Do you know it fully?

I know enough about it. Praying to Mary, bowing before idols (the Eastern Orthodox uses icons), changing the Sabbath to Sunday, etc.

Even those in it all their lives don't know it fully. If they did they would flee from it. If it were not for the apathy of the laity there would not be enough bodies to fill a pew.
Most catholics I know do not support the churchs position on most matters like abortion, gays and muslims. They go through the motions of catholic service because they believe they must. There is no love for the Lord in the catholic laity or priesthood for that matter.
Tell me how does a catholic find peace with God?

Ok brother, what don't they agree with in the Church's teachings on abortion, homersexuality and Muslims? Also, please tell me what YOU don't agree with in the Church's teachings on these topics. This should be interesting. No love for God in the priesthood? C'mon brother, please. Priests devote their whole lives to our Lord and teaching His way. Some do the wrong thing! Yeh, I'm not denying that. I just has a priest reported recently for misleading his parish and he is being dealt with. But there is corruption in every denomination, mostly driven by greed and pride. And finally, brother in Christ, I can tell you how I find peace with God as a Catholic, and that is in the Cross. Praise The Lord! And I say sorry to Him every day that He had to die on the Cross for me cz I'm so weak.
Brother, I think if you just looked into everything that you are told about the Catholic Church by your leaders, you would be shocked with what the truth ACTUALLY is. INDEED, Protestants who HAVE taken the time to study the teachings of the Catholic Church in their entirety (a lot of the time out their hatred for it), have joined the Holy Catholic Church. In peace, God bless.

Obviously not the fullness of God... but as a letter to humanity it's all we really need as a visual proof. If it were EVERYTHING we needed He wouldn't have sent the Holy Spirit and Christ wouldn't still be interceding.

p. s. If you're really doing this for the cause of Christ, then brother, do it in love, not anger.

You really like opening the barn door wide. :-) Though you were not responding to me, might I share my experiences and understanding.
I was working one time in a midwestern greenhouse and commented that Catholics were not Christians and were some of the most liberal people on earth. One of my coworkers who was Catholic in her own sweet way started crying and left. As a young person full of myself I was too used to hearing Ian Paisley poking fun at Catholics without really looking at the individual PEOPLE in the churches. Now, without stepping on too many toes or sounding like I'm stating noone who attends a Catholic church can possibly be a Christian, let me state clearly that I KNOW some Christians (saved by grace alone) who attend a Catholic church for one reason or another. Catholics make up the backbone of the local pro-life group and it's Catholics that donate the most time to bake sales etc. HOWEVER, one cannot deny that the Catholic church holds some unbiblical ideas including the need for us to earn our way to heaven. They also support one of the Doctrines of the Devil "forbidding to marry" as layed out in I Timothy 4:3.

You can bash the catholics and anyone who does not follow your own belief but what does that result in? Did you create this thread to teach or to post your own agenda? And consider out of the two answers or any answer really did you do it out of love? Because any words or teaching that has no love in it may very well be wasted words and hollow feelings and beliefs. This world cannot gain anything if the thing they receive is hate and abuse, Physical mental and worst of all spiritual abuse. Who are we to judge someone? we can try to teach them out of love if they will listen but often times the vile or wrong thing is not in the world or others but rather inside ourselves. We see the darkness and cruelty in everywhere and everything but refuse to see the darkness in our own souls. We are just as vile and evil as the next person so before we go condemning anyone we have to look inside ourselves first. once you do and you see what is truly inside you ask yourself this- is what you are doing justified or more importantly is it the will of God or yourself?

I never believed in purgatory till I read this thread.

Sitting here reading this... now I feel like I'm IN purgatory.

: )
