Purifieth as he is pure (1 John 3:1-3)

I agree ... we're purified or sanctified in Christ; that is, God graces us with trust in His word, and what He has accomplished via the death and rousing of His Son, and therefore by this God given trust in Him, we are seen by God as righteous, with God's own righteousness ... And because we are in Christ, we strive to be Christ-like ... not that's that's going to happen in this lifetime.

That is, it's not ... NOT ... our doing, or even our attempting to do, that makes us purified or sanctified, that's God's doing; rather, it's just ours to strive to live a pure and sanctified life, knowing full well that it's Christ that God sees, not our puny efforts.

What's really "noticeable" is that you dont specifically say what it is, that you two find "contradictory" ... ?
Pot Shots are the norm, here on this site, but real (intelligent) critiques should always include specifics.

Seems to me it is saying that those who have purified themselves are those whose hope is set on Him. He is pure. It is Christ who is the pure and sinless Son of God, and we are made spiritually pure by His indwelling presence.

...how is it possible to truly strive for something while thinking in your heart it is impossible? Isn't that what is called "double minded"?
James writes of the doubting person that he is “like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does” (James 1:6–8). A doubter is a double-minded person. Jesus had in mind such a person when He spoke of the one who tries to serve two masters (Matthew 6:24). As such, he is “unstable,” which comes from a Greek word meaning “unsteady, wavering, in both his character and feelings.”

"Double minded?" ... How about realistic? I'm mortal, I fail on a daily basis ... Christ died for all ...ALL...of our sins/failures;
therefore, in Christ I'm righteous in God's sight. Righteous with God's own righteousness, but not because I do what's right,
nor even that I will to do what's right, but because God did this through His Son.

No! Definitely not double minded, but absolutly CERTAIN!

What are these verses saying.??.(in your own paraphrase)

"Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God, 2instruction about baptisms, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment," (Heb. 6:1-2).
