This reminds me of when I lived with two girls in Hawaii who were from Orange County, California. I was always the bug squisher. One time we came home late at night and our front door was fully opened. I was the one who went in first and searched the apartment, some form of weapon in hand (haha) and then let them know it was safe.
I agree completely with you, Jullianna. Opening a door or grabbing my arm is such an awesome thing....wanting me to feign helplessness....not so much. I was always the "If you can do it so can I!" person though. Haha

It's very cool when you find the guy that doesn't tell you that you can't do something because you're a girl, but says, "Hey!! This is awesome! Wanna try it??", huh? :)

It's pretty great when a girl will step up and prove you wrong... just saying. :)

Truuuuue story. Or who encourages you to try something even if it may seem impossible. :D

Someone telling me that I can't do something is a pretty sure way to get me to give it a shot, as long as it's not something that goes against my beliefs or God's leading. :)

Sometimes I find this whole thing a bit duplicitous, you know? As I said before, men say they want the Proverbs 31 woman (and have apparently never actually studied it haha) and think it's unreasonable for women to want the knight in shining armor, when some really want the doe-eyed ego booster....Just as women say they want a christian husband who will take the leadership role in the marriage, yet fall for the bad boy. I don't know what the answer is, other than a lot of patience and prayer. :)

I think that some guys may have concerns that a strong woman can't be the submissive wife the scriptures call her to be. If she marries the wrong guy, this can certainly be an issue. But if she is patient and waits for God to lead her to the right guy she can genuinely look up to with the utmost respect (the second thing the scriptures demand of a wife), she will have no problem with following his and the Lord's leading, as she will trust him completely if she knows how treasured she is. When you have a man like that in your life, knowing that you have disappointed him in some way can be the most heartwrenching thing ever...so you want to do all you can to make certain that doesn't happen. Especially when you know he feels the same way and is trying his very best to do the same thing.

A pastor I enjoy has said that God doesn't actually select mates for His people who will meet all of each others conditions, but uses the weaknesses in their spouses them to teach and mold them into the image of Jesus. There might be a small portion of the population (men and women) who have such upstanding character and desirable qualities that they deserve the respect of their wife or the love of their husband. Most christians are not though, there are not many mighty, noble or wise. His strength is made perfect in weakness.

Does a man or woman have to be perfect in order to be respected or cherished? As Liamson said in another thread, some flaws are beautiful in and of themselves. Is the fact that something is difficult to find or obtain an issue that should keep us from desiring and/or seeking after it?

Maybe I'm just not one of those people who has a long list of conditions *shrugs* I'm thinking there are a LOT of intelligent, curious, romantic, challenging guys out there who love God as much as I do. I've met quite a few on CC. :)

Well Julianna, I would guess most guys who have talked to you here would see you as quite the catch so to speak but my experience has been Juliannas and there are other godly ladies here ;) are alot more the exception than the rule.

Someone needs to show me an example of what a beautiful flaw is because I still don't get that.

I think that my having a baby outside of marriage might be considered a beautiful flaw....but I dunno. :/

My thoughts went to a line in a Taylor Swift song...The one that says something like "I like that gap between your teeth."
Taylor Swift Ours Lyrics - YouTube
I like that song.

Maybe that kind of thing...not that it has to be about looks. It could be something else too. What if someone is clumsy? That's an imperfection...but for some reason I think it can be cute..Don't ask me why. I have no idea.

Ohh that came through as I was typing my post or I would've put this in my last message..

Just wanted to say, the right man for you is certainly going to accept you as is, and love your cute baby like crazy and be thankful for her...so whatever you want to label that. :)

Lots more examples in this song (one of my favorites):

Ok, I think I get the idea now. :)

To Catlynn, I don't think babies can ever be flaws because only God decides when we will enter this world. :)

While I don't need a man to come rescue me from every little thing, I do appreciate one that kills bugs, traps mice, and opens stubborn spaghetti sauce jars. I'm pretty good at doing things for myself now that I live alone and my dad isn't around to do those things anymore.

My personal experience is that being perfect doesn't mean people will always respect or cherish you.

Post Script. It's nice to have met you too :D

Oh I know. :D I don't consider her a flaw...I was just trying to come up with something or some sort of situation that may not be perfect or most ideal but is still a part of who a person is.
