I always get a lot in my mind. I was a atheist, like the majority in my country. I decided to change that because I truly felt that there's something more powerful, and far beyond my understanding. But there's always something makes me feel insecure and depressed. I wanted to be a brand-new person, but I found it hard to let go the past. What should I do?

Do you want it to be YOU that is "powerful", or do you desire to follow the will of the one who is?

This was Satan's dilemma, too. This particulat brand of pride is as old as time... and kind of hard to overcome by ourselves.

Have you given your life over to Jesus Christ? Before you do that, dealing with insecurity and depression is going to be worthless.

Hello and welcome to the forum! You have made a wise first decision by coming here. It is a brave thing for you to do to turn away from the norm in your country. Many of us turn from unbelieving families and pressure in their communities but to turn away from the majority of your own country is hard...but it can be done if you are determined. You are correct, there is a far greater power than that which we are able to understand - Jesus is His name! Seek Him, pray in earnest and from the heart and ask Him into your life and to lead you.

Listen to this ministry:Listen to Dr. Michael Youssef - Leading The Way Radio Online it is a wonderful God-filled ministry and specialises in those such as yourself - minorities where Christians are ostracised - even persecuted, they can even help you practically if you need it. First though you must pray and read God's word, before reading ask God for understanding of His word. You can find a multitude of material online so you are blessed to have that. Here you can get to know many Christians from all over the world who you can make friends with and who can message you privately and even pray for you if you need it.

There is no need for you to feel alone, insecure or depressed, we are here for you and Jesus loves you and is waiting for you to seek Him - He will meet you halfway. Read about the prodigal son: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke+15:11-32 Blessings to you!

Replying to: ...me feel insecure and depressed. I wanted to be a brand-new person, but I found it hard to let go the past. What should I do?
As you walk in the light you have you will get more light and will not always be depressed, you will also experience uplifting times of being caught up in the spirit and when it happens, feel like all your troubles are over, but we don't become Holy at once and the greatest trouble we have is this uncertainty that you describe. We don't know what a day will bring and are called to walk by faith. This does not describe well the necessary fight of faith to grow in the Love of God. If you have time to read on here, in poems and poetry, a one hour study Journey to enter into rest, it will help you understand, but understanding does not change us, God's Love by His Spirit does, "Love does not insist on it's own way." This is why the trouble is necessary, He won't force us and we can't force Him, and we are slow learners to let go of the old life and not take things in our hands again.

Just continue to grow in studying Gods Word, faith and fellowship with other believers...Jesus has a way of prying things from our hands that we do not want to release to Him. After all, He is the author and finisher of our faith :)

Change doesn't happen overnight for most people.
You already are a new person! You've met the creator of the universe.
Be happy that you know Him, take your time getting to know Him, and stay close to Him.
Life is long,,,be patient.

Christianity is a surrender. Surrender to Him ,Jesus, open your heart, invite Him in.

It is trough worship and prayer that he invades your being.

He desires intimacy. He wants to invade your life. Let Him establish Himself in you. Allow Him to set up His Throne in your heart.

Time spent with Jesus will manifest many good things in your life.

The ones that are full of Jesus are easy to spot.

They all can't get rid of the silly grin

Hi edric,
To be honest, i am so glad to see u here! Although i appreciate fellowship with ppl from other countries, we do miss the asians and africans, south americans too. Just very recently, my husband was watching some video on Christians from other asian countries, incl. syria and china, while i also recently finished reading the account of american missionaries (stovel) in communist china before the japanese tried to come (will retrieve the book's title though).

I will only encourage u to read more and listen to teachings of Scripture, learn new songs and esp Scripture songs wc will help u thru all storms u might go thru-- esp memorize them in ur heart. Replacing the old memories, thoughts, habits may take a while but be patient w/ urself, and grow w/ others also growing in the Lord.

If amnesia through blunt trauma is not a feasible option for some reason (If it is, I recommend a good wooden mallet to the head. Don't hit too hard, though), just know that we change all the time and the past you is an entirely different person to you today, if that makes any sense at all :)

God bless you- you have had some great advice. I also add my welcome. The more we try and be better the more we struggle, I believe evil has a big part in it, Satan does not want you in the light, and the CHOICE is ours moment by moment, at times our new life will be great and the next minute we struggle. God has gifted you with insight and courage, keep that in mind, you are young and have strength that you cannot imagine right now. Talents and gifts that make you unique and the only you that you can be. Keep understanding and learning yourself --your likes and dislikes,, and always trust God is always in you and with you. Count on it. There are so many wonderful churches that can support you with your journey, explore and choose one who believes in God our Creator,Jesus Christ as our Savior the only begotten Son of God, who became man to save us , and the Holy Spirit, all the rest of the religious stuff is just that, stuff. You can go to focusonthefamily.com and they can help you find support and a good church in your local area, and also has some great info and articles for new believers. There is a lot of BS out there trying to distract you, and unfortuneately most of the time it is even within our own families, and friends, (where we are the most vulnerable) but you can be strong enough to ignore the scoffers, and stay with the basic truths about God and you will be far better off. Many Blessings
