Paul adds that in our prayer we present our requests

and it will guard your hearts and minds in Jesus. Paul
is exhorting people to pray and to commit their hearts to
Jesus. Above all other things God wants us to be happy
in Him and absorb His love and also love Him. When he
says God's peace transcends all understanding, it means
only by prayer and diligent focus on the love of God will
our hearts be at peace. Reading and sermons are not a
bad thing but they are only the beginning of our spiritual
life. We need more though to really be inspired to grow
in His love and His grace and His mercy. So in doing and
being these things, will come to understand and flourish
in the power of God's love.
