You only receive rep points when someone gives you a rep comment. For example, if I repped you, you'd receive 71 rep points because I have 71 powers. For every 100 rep points you get, you receive a green bar and a power. You also receive a green bar and a power for every so many posts you make. Mine started out at 100 and doubled on up through, and now it's 1000 posts. I no longer receive green bars because I have them all.
I do still receive a power, however, for every 1000 posts I make..

Thank you, Blain. I think alot of people here have earned the reps they receive.
I don't know how others give rep, but a post really has to impress me to merit a rep. I don't give rep for rude or sarcastic posts, although some here do. I give rep based on whether I liked what a post said, if it impressed me, or if I learned something new from it. 
LOL I was given a rep once with a very rude and condemning message in it, I am the same as you I rep when I am very impressed by a persons post, if I see the heart of God shining brightly in their words I instinctively give them rep and I always leave a message of how they impressed me and I always put my name in it so they know who rep them and why, it's kind of annoying to see you have been given rep but there is no message and you have no idea who gave it to you lolThank you, Blain.
