The AD 70 Timeline Problem: Preterists generally view Christ's "coming" in verse 8 as a spiritual coming in judgment against Jerusalem, fulfilled by the Roman destruction of the Temple in AD 70. However, Nero died in AD 68. He could not have been destroyed by a judgment event that happened two years after his own suicide.

Global Deception vs. Political Tyranny (Verse 10): The text speaks of a spiritual deception ("deceivableness of unrighteousness") where people perish because they "received not the love of the truth."
