The name started when Israel was destroyed by Roman empire.
Remember Jesus time? 70ad?
I take it that you and @Beekeeper are morbidly disappointed that Satan was not bound in 70AD?

Well, we futurist dispensationalists understand perfectly well that Satan is presently NOT bound. And we know precisely WHEN he will be. And WHY he will be.

Yes, it's wonderful when you know exactly what you are talking about. And likewise wonderful when you know that you are right.

You can enjoy this same status. Just pay attention.......😊

Alright, here's a further look back, but the name was tied to Philistines.

  • 70 CE Event: After the destruction of the Second Temple, the Romans kept the province named Judea and issued coins reading "Judea Capta," but did not change the provincial name.
  • 135 CE Renaming: Emperor Hadrian renamed the province to Syria Palaestina after crushing the Bar Kokhba rebellion, a move widely interpreted as an attempt to sever Jewish ties to the land by using the name of their ancient enemies, the Philistines.

Not that it matters because God/Jesus considers it "Israel".

I keep going back and forth on that one. One of the reasons I think that the Millennial Kingdom will start on the current earth is because the Bible says that it will take Israel 7 months to bury the dead bodies and 7 years to burn all of the weapons in Ezekiel 39. Unless that's a battle that takes place before Armageddon, but I always saw the Ezekiel war and the war of Armageddon as the same. Will people be burying bodies on the new earth?
And how silly is that?
Ezekiel 39 happened a long time ago.
The names "Gog" and "Magog" in Rev 20 are a comparison, much like "Sodom" and "Egypt" are in Rev.11.

Had Satan not been bound none of us would be here now.

You didn't check that out?

No, the battle described in Ezekiel 38–39 has not happened yet.
  • Historical Context: The prophecy was written after 585 BCE, but no historical conflict since then matches the specific details, such as the unique northern alliance of nations or the seven-year fueling and seven-month burial timeline.
  • Future Fulfillment: Most biblical scholars and prophecy experts believe this event is still in the future, likely occurring in the "latter years" after the Jewish people are regathered from the nations.

Revelation 16:16
And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.

Armageddon is a place above Megiddo the valley of Jezreel.
"Har-Megiddo" means "mountain of Megiddo" and may be mount Carmel.
There was never any battle there.
The Roman deputy rulers gathered there when they used it as a staging ground before destroying Jerusalem.

Revelation 20 never tells us that Christ is on earth during His reign.
V.4 tells us that "the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus" lived and reigned with Him.
You would have to argue that they get reincarnated to live on earth.
Reincarnation seems to be foreign to the ways of God.

Look again:

Revelation 20:6

Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them,
but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.

The 1000 years are to follow the seven-year Tribulation ending.

Good point!

But, obviously it was Israel before it was ever considered Palestine.

Here's the history:

The Ottomans never made "Palestine" an official administrative unit, but they did use the name in official contexts, especially in the late Ottoman period:

  • 1880s: The Ottoman government briefly considered officially renaming the Mutasarrifate of Jerusalem to "Palestine" but abandoned the idea, reportedly out of fear of drawing more foreign attention to the region.
  • 1915 Filastin Risalesi ("Palestine Document"): An Ottoman Army country survey (VIII Corps) formally identified "Palestine" as a region comprising the Sanjaqs of Akka (Galilee), Nablus, and Jerusalem — essentially the area west of the Jordan River. This is the most explicit official Ottoman use of the name.
  • Late Ottoman maps and correspondence: Ottoman official maps from the period labeled the area as "Palestine" or "Land of Palestine" (Artz-i Filistin), and archival documents from the 1870s onward regularly used the term, often as a synonym for the Mutasarrifate of Jerusalem or the broader region west of the Jordan.

I do not care for the history of powerful people and governments.
In this time the ancient people of that land are the Arab Palestinians, just as the ancient people of my country are the Australian Aborigines.
All the genealogical records of the Hebrews were destroyed in AD70, and there is not a single person left in the world who can trace their ancestry back to Jacob if their life depended on it.
Stealing is stealing and murder is murder even when Israelis do it.
Modern Israel has no authority under the Mosaic covenant which is abolished, and None of the promises God made to Abraham cover it either.

I doesn't matter what you know about who is who, all that matters is that God knows who's who.

Israelis aren't suicidal AND genocidal like Muslims are. The different Islamic sects (Sunni & Shiites) continue to kill each other every day.

Only God/Jesus has authority over the covenants, and God/Jesus tells us in the Bible that He's going to return to Jerusalem, preserve the land and a remnant of the people and set up shop for 1,000 years on the earth before the New Jerusalem comes down from Heaven,.

And who was given the command by God...

"Thou shalt not steal?"
Jews.

Why?

Yes.. Jews are as naturally capable of stealing just as much as Muslims are.
Jews that honor God will have restraint of the Law.

Here's how you are wrong, again:

  • Gog's death: Ezekiel 39 says Gog falls "upon the mountains of Israel" and is buried there. Antiochus actually died in Babylon (or possibly on the road back from there), not in Judea.
  • Supernatural destruction: Ezekiel describes God personally destroying the army with fire, earthquake, hail, and pestilence (38:19–22). The Maccabees won through guerrilla warfare and conventional battles, not a single divine intervention wiping out the enemy.
  • The nations: Gog is "prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal" (Ezekiel 38:2) — names typically associated with regions in modern Turkey, Russia, and Central Asia, not the Seleucid heartland of Syria.
  • Scale and aftermath: Ezekiel 39 describes a seven-year burning of weapons and a mass burial of the dead. Nothing like that happened after the Maccabean victories.

Dan 2:20 Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his:

Dan 2:21 And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding

What do you mean exactly? Are you offering advice? Saying that if you cuss you are not a Christian? And what prompted you to say what you said?

Filthy communication is sinful. If a person does not repent of their cussing (stop doing it), then just like any other sin a person refuses to repent of they will not be accepted by the Lord because they have become tares

Matthew 13:41,42 - The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Those that insist on cussing don't know the Lord and are not led of His Spirit.

Let's just assume this dispensationism is right, still it does not give Christian any authority to support a secular system.

Christians are supposed to be provoking the Jews to jealousy because God is with us because we follow Jesus - Deuteronomy 32:21, Romans 10:19

So Christians are not supporting the form of government that Israel has right now, but we should be supporting Israel's right to self defense since the moslems refuse to leave Israel alone. If the moslems would leave Israel alone there would be peace in the middle east so all the fighting is the fault of the moslems. They lit the fuse to their own destruction at the hands of the Israeli military.

When you just dont got Scripture to back up what you say you gotta just IGNORE vast sections of the bible. TERRIBLE system.

That's exactly what most churches and preachers are doing today.

But, they go a step further and in addition to ignoring large portion of the Word of God they twist scripture

So...Jesus says He will build His church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it, but satan hasn't been bound?

Jesus has no assumed absolute control of this world as of yet (Hebrews 2:8) so not the devil is still running free doing his thing. Anybody that knows their bible knows this already.

Apples and oranges.
Your government is not run according to Aboriginal principles of government.

In contrast...
Some historical people's minds were foundational for the social structures we find today.
Those who gave us the US Constitution had been students of ancient Greek and Roman political ideas.
So, studying US history would be best understood by knowing the history of powerful past people.

Even more so for studying the Bible. Better teachers understand it is best to understand why certain things were thought and said in their historical setting, which would require understanding the historical setting of where and when the Bible account was taking place.
