The person described in Romans 7 has always been considered (until Calvin,) an unsaved Jew trying to find justification by the Law. This does not describe the Christian experience of Paul or any other. Sin is not to be tolerated, but by the grace of God, overcome. See Rom 6 & 8.
Seems entirely plausible.
"my brethren - law - dead - married to another"

Rom 7:4
Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.

Yes, the Reformers caused calamity with their Jew-less Christian supremacy pseudo-philosophy.
Couple that with the Reformers seeing the RC Church every time a villain shows up in the Bible. Absurd.
And they were hopelessly ignorant of the PRIORITY and critical necessity to truly recognize and understand the HEBREW Scriptures.

And their TRADITION (sound familiar?) continues to this present day.

Take heed @Journey_man . Any Church that chooses to refrain from teaching the HEBREW and JEWISH patterns and types portrayed in the OT are doomed to ignorance and failure.

You missed my pastors point, he wasn't suggesting that the vast majority of Gods people are wilfully ignorant of what the Bible reveals.

There are still some faithful Churches, so let's not throw out the baby with the bath water.
Wonderful thank you.

Having said that, did you have an opportunity to dialogue with your pastor regarding his misapprehension of the
terms "predestined" and "predestinated"?

You see, if he is legit and possesses a good conscience, he WILL be WILLING to make the necessary course corrections and then teach his congregation accordingly. Do some reprogramming and fix the bugs. Clean out the doctrinal cobwebs.

On the other hand, should he "suppress the truth in unrighteousness", well, he is facing disqualification.

Yes true, BUT there are also many people who have read the Bible many times over and then use it for their own personal ambitions,

have been indoctrinated to read it in a certain way this can be worse because they use sophistry and it is very deceiving.
Yes, and then you have some who read with little understanding of what they’re reading, and who wrest Scripture according to their man-made doctrines.

Of course, this should never happen. And would not happen if the Hebrew (and even Aramaic) language and mindset were properly addressed. And the koine and classical Greek as well.

The English translation by itself is fraught with serious deficiencies. Most of the bogus mythical dogma we see today is a result of shoddy scholarship. This dogma is that which eventually supplants the intended message of the text.

2 Peter 3:16 He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.

I think it’s more to do with people who live by the traditions of men than listening to what God actually says.

We should all be like the noble Bereans to see if what is said is accurate. It should always be about Scripture to back up our statements, otherwise it’s just opinion/ man-made doctrine.

Replacement theology? Paul never taught it. That's a fact.

[Rom 11:16-21, 24 KJV]
16 For if the firstfruit [be] holy, the lump [is] also [holy]: and if the root [be] holy, so [are] the branches.

17 And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;

18 Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.

19 Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in.

20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:

21 For if God spared not the natural branches, [take heed] lest he also spare not thee. ...

24 For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert graffed contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural [branches], be graffed into their own olive tree?

Paraphrased with added bolded words so that others won't be led astray by your darkened understanding. I know you will have a problem with this because you follow the doctrine of the anti-Christ pharisees, and are, well, an impostor

16 For if the firstfruit [be] holy, the lump [is] also [holy]: and if the root [be] holy, so [are] the branches [that believe].
17 And if some of the branches [that don't believe] be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree [that does believe], wert graffed in among them [the believing branches], and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;
18 Boast not against [all of] the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root [Christ], but the root thee.

In multiple lectures, Sproul says things like:

“When we speak of the Reformed tradition, we are speaking of a system of theology…”

********************************************************************

1. What Is Reformed Theology?

“Reformed theology is a theology… rooted and grounded in the Reformed tradition of the historic Christian church.”

He uses the phrase explicitly to tie doctrine to a historical stream, not just ideas.

2. Grace Unknown

“The doctrines of grace have a long history in the Reformed tradition.”

Here he connects Calvinistic soteriology directly to the Reformed tradition as a continuous heritage.

3. Teaching series (Ligonier Ministries lectures)

In multiple lectures, Sproul says things like:

“When we speak of the Reformed tradition, we are speaking of a system of theology…”

He consistently defines it as a coherent, systematized body of doctrine, not just denominational identity.

4. Chosen by God

While the exact phrase appears less often, he clearly situates the teaching:

“These doctrines are not new… they are rooted in the historic Reformed understanding of Scripture.”

Just another dodge to avoid and deny the obvious point that Paul intends to convey.
And yes, Christian supremacists are a thing. But oh so wrong.

And no, we are NOT "first".

Rom 1:16
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

Rom 2:9
Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;

Rom 2:10
But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:

I know the word "first" gets filtered in your pharisee-supremacist mind to mean more favored, or more important, or first in everything now, but let's look at what Paul meant by "first":

1) first to have the gospel proclained to them (done)
2) first to receive tribulation and anguish for disbelieving the gospel (done 70 AD)
3) first to receive God's honor, glory and peace for believing the gospel (done)

Reformed? Theology? Denominational?
I’m none of these. These are man-made terms.

Scripture is the word of God, which is not the above.
