Idk about that; with respect to futurism in general; the idea that the catholic pope was the antichrist goes back pretty far- whether or not that's an invention, it's definitely not a modern one.He is responsible for futurism as it pertains to natural Israel. He's not responsible for it's survival, though, because it didn't exist in Christianity from the 1st century to the 19th century. He is responsible for its infiltration into Christian thought.
I have no doubt that when the modern state of Israel came into being, a lot of people started to rethink their eschatological frameworks....
.... and after cursory internet research, you can find that this idea that Jews would be returned to their homeland started even before that... even the Puritans in colonial America had this idea- and the idea that they would be converted to christianity was part of their eschatology.
