I've studied the subject on and off since HS. That seems possible, but in DTs position there is an army of demons trying to influence him.
My suspicion is that demonic influence and possibly possession is more likely.

I'm not saying that he's not narcissistic. I'm saying that it's more than merely a human reaction or dementia as his people are suggesting.

I think the tendency to choose a side is ingrained, which is why the powers try to control narratives of the Left/right paradigm. It works with the majority of people who are politically active.
You'd expect Christians to choose principles over politicians though. I'm on Jesus side.
