I think that futurist theology is motivated mainly by the desire to rally support for the modern state of Israel, and for that reason any reference to the restoration of Jerusalem or Israel are considered too politically useful to waste on the time of the second temple.

What's futurist theology? It's not anyone's fault but your own that you don't believe the Bible and the words of God. It's your own fault that you reject the truth and love the lies, that's why you have to discard the lies first. Your views of modern Israel doesn't even make sense at all.

In discussions that I have had with self proclaimed futurists I have also noticed that OT references to Jesus are often attributed to the second coming of Christ, especially throughout the book of Zechariah.

It's also denying the veracity of the Bible, trying to twist the scriptures against God, and flirting with cessationism and blasphemy too.
