the problem is an heart problem.

no amount of training and no kind of law is going to make the officer take his knee off the unresponsive man's neck when it becomes undeniably obvious to him that he does not need to restrain the man anymore and that he is doing him undue harm by doing so. no law and no schooling will stop the people who beat or killed innocent men and women when they were trying to defend themselves or their property, or simply passing by.

no law and no education will cause someone to make the right decision in a situation. laws and education can cause people to know what the right decision or action is, but they cannot cause a person to do what is right.

the Torah says love your neighbor. that never caused anyone to love their neighbor. it can cause people to act like they have love, because of fear of punishment or because of a sense of obligation & duty -- but it does not cause love.
the law only makes sin evident; it doesn't change a person's heart. a law can influence behavior, but it cannot change an heart. laws and education highlight evil and attempt to contain it; they don't address it. they are not root-cause solutions.

and law can only influence behavior up to a point: some people are not deterred by the threat of punishment. some people are actually provoked to do what brings punishment because of the threat of punishment; some people simply don't care about the threat of punishment; to some people some other motivation is greater than the motivation of avoiding punishment; some people believe they can escape punishment and others are ignorant of the threat of punishment, or forget it in their passion.

law and knowledge cannot change a person's heart, and they can only partially modify behavior - not completely.

will is free, and people's hearts are evil. this is ultimately the problem.

the only solution is the only thing that can change a person's inner being: the problem in its distillation is sin, and the only solution is Christ.
This is an absolute truth. This is where we are. Very little of anything else matters much. Give your heart to Christ and wipe your feet of he world.

The most beautiful, heartbeaking, and impactful moments, and a moment that drove my personal short driveway to God, was in 2006 when 5 children were murdered in an Amish school in Lancaster Co. Penn. A man driven by his own heart killed the children and himself. I saw on tv when the families of the little ones walked away. Walked home. All in deep grief and unfounded confusion and all the dark emotion associated with losing a child, two chidren, then five - they walked home. Never spoke to the press, never answered the questions, never sought revenge, no post interviews, no association. They wiped their feet and walked home. And if anyone will not welcome you or heed your words, shake the dust off your feet when you leave that home or town. Matt 10:14.

And so, the quote from Posthuman "the only solution is the only thing that can change a person's inner being: the problem in its distillation is sin, and the only solution is Christ."

Why all this what-about-ism and pointing out other subjects?

I'm sorry you have a blindside that doesn't see how these things are related.

Be as it may, but he is the President and is the one supposed to be unifying our country when we’re falling on hard times. Pointing at others isn’t good enough.
You keep repeating something that is untrue. The country was united. Everyone agreed what happened to Floyd was wrong. The president said so, called on the DOJ, FBI to investigate. He said in his speech it was sickening and talked about protesters righteous cry. And yet you continue to ignore what he said. That is unity and we all agreed. What we don't agree with is riots ripping the country apart.

I've heard the last President was going to do that. Trump inherited what others left behind. Why do you keep pointing at Trump? Seems there is alot of 'do as I say and not as I do' making the rounds these days

remember when we had presidents who were presidential?

that was cool. it's true, as the song goes, that sometimes you don't know what you've got until it's gone.
You mean when they lied to us with fair words and good speeches?

It seems people prefer smooth talking liars instead of blunt and plain truth tellers.

There is indeed nothing new under the sun.

I’m sorry, but did you just say that Trump is a truth teller?

I’ll keep pointing at him because he’s the responsible person at this point of time.

I get you hate Trump.
Being dissatisfied with someone’s political performance isn’t hate. I know that many people find it convenient to label someone who holds opinions different from themselves for haters. If a person disagrees with Trump, his supporters will be labeling that person a Trump hater instantly.

I don’t hate Trump, at all, I just don’t agree with his politics. If that qualify for hatred I think you should take a closer look at the meaning of the term “hate”.

I always thought this was a somewhat silly definition and totally out of step with history or the nature of spiritedness we, at times, need in our leaders. Andrew Jackson and Teddy Roosevelt first come to mind.

Well, I guess times have changed. Let's be honest though. I'm not condoning anyone losing their lives, and I'm not going to condone any of this nonsense going on right now either. If you are condoning violent crowds burning down buildings and the likes then you really need to check yourself!

And just so you know police brutality and misconduct is not just a white and black thing...I live in an area that is 99% white, but guess what there is still a lot of police brutality going on, but you won't hear about it though because it is against white folks. Police need to be held accountable for their actions. Protests are fine, but violent crowds destroying property and endangering lives is also a crime and needs to be dealt with as so. Anyone committing crimes should be held accountable.
The most passionate and emotional people tend to highjack these sorts of conversations. If you even casually question anything they say they're likely to accuse you of condoning violence or gaslighting you into thinking you did something wrong.

These kind of conversations aren't really productive in my honest opinion because by the time we get to the bottom line, people have already been arguing: we should condemn all racism and violence, not just for one particular person, or group, or whoever the media says we should go after, but also offer a solution. The solution is Jesus Christ, Son of God, our dear Lord and Savior.

Trump appears to be tearing this nation apart because he is the tribune of roughly half the country as the President before him was and the President after him will be. There are many ways to describe the cleavage within this country- An old constitution based on negative liberty to sustain a republic vs. a new constitution based on positive liberty to create a perfectly equitable mass democracy. A shrinking middle class vs. a growing upper and lower class. A broadly Christian Humanist country vs. the hydra-headed Woketopia. The Vast Interior vs. equally populated Coastal Enclaves.

A public servant who supposedly serves the entire nation now has two masters. He will love one and hate the other. If you are looking for somebody who will unite and lead America like FDR through the Depression and the Second World War, that ship has sailed. All either side can hope for is to appear stronger and persuade/compel a larger majority with evangelistic zeal. Pray for this country if you are not already.

LOL! Certainly not according to the mayors and govs of blue states. Did you catch the latest foolish thing the mayor of DC has done?

Well, if you actually want to back up your own words with action, you should probably stop pointing at the President and for more than one reason but the main one being the fact that no one did more to divide this country than the half and half President before him.

It also turns out that all Trump stated about being illegally listened to and observed by the leaving administration was absolutely true.

Time to stop idealizing the fake and take a hold of the reality even if it isn't pretty. Trump has no help from the left. In fact, they do their best to undermine anything he does. The hatred is demonic.

right,

trump did not break nor can he fix america.

we have now had 50 years of socialism propaganda in the colleges across this country, so that now massive amounts of people 35 and under that are 100% anti-america , as far as what america was in 70's and 80' and into the first years of the 90's..

Lowest unemployment for women, for blacks, and other minorities. Economy was on fire,in a good way, people were building again. Standing against abortion, for religious freedom and firm on the side of Israel. Not backing down from China, bringing captive Americans home from around the world. Holding back socialist/communist leftists and now battling anarchists. Yeah I see a lot to be dissatisfied with there.

Name five things he's done for the country that you agree with and five things he's done right since being in office.

You’re deflecting now. I told you I didn’t hate him. That’s all I was going to say. There’s no need for us to start a competition on what good/bad he has done. Out on the streets I can tell you that things are worse now than it was before he took office. It’s not only Trump’s fault, but he’s certainly not helping matters.

This makes no sense. The president is the one who should be pointed at for not doing a good job. Why can’t you just admit it?
