Romans chapter 8
Chapter 7 was written to the those hat knew the law. Chapter 8 is written to God's elect; those chosen before the foundation of this world age.
Verse1. There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Make sure you read this with open eyes, open ears, and a open heart to receive what God is saying. He is not saying on of the most popular untrue doctrines out there:”Once Saved Always Saved. It does not say that. It does say you are not under condemnation UNLESS you walk after the flesh and not the Spirit. We are still in flesh bodies and as Paul himself said sometimes I mess up and I have to ask for forgiveness pick my self up knock the dust off ask God to forgive me and move on.
Verse 2. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
The law of the Spirit: This is the Holy Spirit within you guiding you in the ways of Christ and when you follow after that law, that way, that life. The law of sin and death has no power over you. Example; lets say you might have had a problem with drinking a little to much or you used drugs. The holy Spirit takes that away and if you are even temped to go back the Holy Spirit will help you over come. If you keep in the old ways you will have but a short time for death of the flesh and the spirit are knocking at the door. This goes for all sin.
Verse 3. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh.
He “Jesus” came in the flesh; walked on this earth without sin showing us how to do it; and then died on the cross for us so that He became our sacrifice once and for all. Does that make us perfect? NO! John in the letters of John said “we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous”. The law is not weak the law was and is good it is the flesh that is weak.
Verse 5. That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
The law is righteousness it is to do that which is right. It is a requirement of the law to walk in the Spirit and overcome. Before you jump all over me the law does not say you have to walk in the Spirit; but it is only by walking in the Spirit you can overcome. If you are going down the freeway at 85 mph and the speed limit is 65 you can get a speeding ticket and if you do just remember that is God's way of letting you know you have to obey mans law. O and it is a sin and you should ask for forgiveness and try not to do it again.
Verse 6. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
If you have a fleshly mind you will be thanking about fleshly things; and led to death o the body and the soul. If you have a Spirit mind you will be thanking about our Heavenly Father. When you are trying to and are pleasing our Father He is going to bless you with His love and His blessings. This does not men that things will always be easy and you will get everything you want. You will have trills; that is God's way of taking out the impurities the dross just as a silversmith heats the silver to remove the impurities in it. As I said you may not get everything you want but you will get what you need and an eternal soul that will not die along with a spirit body that never ages, get sick, ect.
Verses 7&8.Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8.So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
Carnal meaning Human nature in the Strong's. Because you have a human mind set on human things it is hostile toward God therefor it will always be at war with God and can never please God. This is why those in the flesh can not and will never please God. They are at war against Him.
Verse 9. But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
You are not in the flesh, you want nothing to do with the flesh, its lusts, desires ect. But in the Spirit, IF it is the Spirit of God living in you. You have to make sure you are of the right Spirit. You may not have the Spirit of Christ, The Holy Spirit. God has nothing to do with you.
Verse 10. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
The flesh body is nothing more than a dead man, woman, child walking because of sin. There is hope and that hope is in only one place; Jesus Christ and The Holy Spirit which gives you Spiritual life because of “Your righteousness” no because of His righteousness dwelling within you; insuring that you will have a spiritual body with an immortal soul both of which will never parish.
Verse 11. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
Shall also quicken means: to be made alive. Your mortal bodies soul shall no longer be mortal but immortal.
Verses 12&13. 12.Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. 13. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
If we are NOT in debt to the flesh, beholden to the flesh for if you live for the flesh you will die in the flesh. On the other hand if you choose to live by the Spirit and through the Spirit you will put to death the things “deeds” of the flesh you will live. Here and know and again when Christ shall return in you Spiritual body and your immortal soul. That body hat never ages, gets sick etc. and the Spirit of God that never dies.
