No only can we obviously see the shadows when we read the Old Testament - they're still there to that extent, just-me, but the very verse you quote tells us not to let anyone judge us in respect of a festival, or a new moon or a Sabbath! This is the very thing that is happening in this thread - Sabbath keepers judging people who worship on Sunday! And you're focussed on the verb "to be". This would be fine if it helped us but it doesn't, even remotely. Unless you are wanting to say that God will send his Son to die for us in the future. Are you?

lol well of course its present tense, some people were still observing them and they were still shadows. if people want to chase shadows that is up to them. I do not care if you observe Saturday or Sunday. But the Sabbath rest is a shadow of the reality of rest in Christ. That's what Hebrews 4 teaches.
we can leave the shadow behind. it has accomplished its purpose.

What do you think the "iron rod" will be? I think the rod that will be in the hands of our Saviour Jesus the true Christ will be the rod that puts proper righteousness into action. A verb denotes action. To be or not to be, that is the question.
I'm not sure you've "proved" this, prove-all. The Greek looks like this:
ἅ ἐστιν σκιὰ τῶν μελλόντων, τὸ δὲ σῶμα τοῦ Χριστοῦ.
Not only is there a parallel with the genitive in the clauses, but the second says "the substance belongs to Christ" anyway. The "is" is a KJV addition. What would you say the meaning of the verse is in this case?
Another question is who do we believe? The Author of the 10 Commandments who spoke them from the Mt. and wrote them with His own finger in stone.........Our Creator God who asked us to obey 10 rules of His government....or do we believe men who made changes to God's law? God has given us the Holy Spirit to help us and Jesus who died for us to save us upholding God's law by fulfilling it. God asked us to Remember.....man tells us to forget.....I have to side with God on this one.

I'm not sure I'm rebuking you, just-me; or okay, maybe I was. The word "are" was in red bold italics. It sounded like you were arguing for the shadows somehow having some importance over the reality, which has come in Jesus. I'm sorry if I misunderstood you. There are so many wacky views being aired on here that I may have lumped yours together with them. The joint's coming down with Judaisers who of course are real strange.
You may have mistyped when giving me the bible reference. Zedekiah? I've looked for something about an iron rod in Zechariah (Zephaniah doesn't have 14 chapters so it can't be that) without much luck - Zechariah 14:16-19 is about the peoples of the earth going up to Jerusalem to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles, so my confusion is pretty much complete right now.
I don't think that Zechariah 14 refers to the millennium. It refers in prophetic terms to the present age.
The iron rod is for breaking people, not shepherding them. He will 'shepherd them with a rod of iron' (literally) means that He will act like a shepherd with his iron rod which is for killing wild beasts. It parallels shattering like a potter's vessel. Indeed in the original source, Psalm 2, it says He will break them with a rod of iron. Thus it is a rod of judgment not of ruling.
If you believe the millennial fairytale the rod of iron turns out to be made of cardboard. The king is unable to control the nations at the end.

I did mis-type that. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I meant to say Zechariah. All the nations of the earth thing hasn't happened yet, but referring to that is not staying on topic. My error, to bring it up to make a point of understanding, not confusion. It could be well to make another thread about what it will be like during the millennial reign of Christ. The feast of tabernacles was then, is supposed to be rehearsed by the church today in Spirit, and will also be a substantial part of the millennial reign as Zechariah prophesied. It's a past, present and a future thing.
JesusLives, Jesus often said, "You have heard it said... but I say unto you...". He expanded on the law in some cases and changed it completely in others, in the case of the law "an eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth", for example. In this case said to do the opposite, to turn the other cheek.

The Hebrew word “moed” is commonly translated “feast” or “festival” in the Bible, but it really means “appointment”. Divine Appointments of God intersecting History to accomplish His will. They were called Holy “Convocations” which in the Hebrew is “Miqura” which means an “assembly” but also implies a “Dress Rehearsal”.
"are" is present tense as I said before. They are from the past but should be observed today. Not works but observe them by understanding the spiritual concepts. Isn't Colossians a New Testament book? "Are shadows of things to come" They observed them in Colossia during Paul's ministry. Shadows I mean, and that all scripture "is" good for instruction in righteousness. That isn't what the Bible says. Just thought I'd add this from Revelation chapter 2, 12, and 19. I think that book is prophecy incorporating past, present, and future truth, kinda like putting it all together and teaching us God's plan from the beginning and how He intends to finish it.
And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.
And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.

Jesus is God......I was speaking of the 10 not an eye for an eye or any other of the 600 + laws....The law of 10 written by God.
