i definitely don't assent to your 1st statement. by course, there are very talented Christian musicians thru out the world. but just in rock music alone, the ability to play & write material hosts a myriad number of musicians on a high virtuoso level. playing an instrument at it's highest level doesn't always mean someone is a better player though. if the music is talking to the listener, then that's what really measures up to music. but i still haven't seen or heard anyone in the Christian realm that can play like Vai, Page, Macarthy, Schenker, Delucia, Beck, Vaughn, etc. indeed, i hope all of us CC members meet.
Not sure anyone's listening to them, I think Christians are more concerned with the Word (lyrics) then the backing. If it overpowers the lyrics, and the choir that's no good.

When you are playing in an orchestra, it's the full sound that matters, not any one individual. Christian musicians don't necessarily have to play well. They just need to have the anointing that gets to the heart of the listener. And that is expressed through words/vocalising.
Elvis had his backing that he couldn't do without, and they were the Sweet Inspirations. They could sing backing on his rock music songs, but he preferred when they all did Gospel.

I read Lisa Marie Presley's memoir. I didn't know she recorded a few songs. Might give her a listen.
She was devastated her pa died so young. He was ill for quite some time.
Then her son took his life...and then Lisa Marie departed us in her 50s. So sad.

In my hometown, there's a memorial dedicated to Elvis in a park where fans celebrate his birthday every year. I walked by it today.

I heard a great doo-wop rendition of "Can't Help Falling in Love". (The name of the group is not coming to me right now.)
It was covered in the movie 'Crazy Rich Asians' wedding scene. Can't remember the name of the artist, but it was the most gorgeous and opulent wedding walk down the aisle I'd ever seen. So much for 'Here Comes the Bride'. That one was in the Sound of Music, and Maria was marching down the aisle with her seven children.
Edelweiss is a lovely song though.
