My post wasn't directed to you or your music. I've heard electronica before and enjoyed some of it. I have yet to listen to yours. I will check that out.

What came to mind earlier was when I studied this subject long ago. I had a lot of vinal that I threw away to start over again.
Music lyrics are subject to the word of God. The music (tunes) however are a little more subjective since we don't have samples, even of the Psalms .
Then we should look at the biblical principles that apply to all things in life to determine for ourselves.

'Whatsoever ye eat or drink or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God."

That said, there are some genres that are obvious. You aren't into this, but I've heard things friends sent me before that were called Christian metal, etc.
You just can't put lipstick on a pig and make it pretty. Lol

Samples of the Devil's music
I remember that kind of music growing up. Definitely the devils music haha
It’s what I listened to before Christ.

You don’t have to say it, but what city was she in?

I’m just curious, cause I have an aunt who is kind of a folk singer.
She was in NE Ohio, the last I knew she was no longer a solo act, and her popularity was falling fast in the area. I have no idea what has happened since as I have not heard of her in a long tme.

Okay, thank God. That’s not close to Spokane, Washington..

I think how Satan influences people is largely a mystery, but if he indeed has influence over what people do as Scripture seems to suggest (people are walking according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air - Ephesians 2:2) then I think it wouldn't be strange to assume that any music produced that is contrary to what is upheld in Scripture could be "the Devil's music". IE. it is influenced by him for some intended purpose.

1 John 5:17-19 says,

"17 All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death. 18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not. 19 And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness."

The implication being that the whole world lies under the sway of the Devil (as is expressed in other translations). The Devil touches people and influences them to wicked acts and the whole world lies in this wickedness. As such, it seems logical to me that music would be something that is within this realm of wickedness that people operate in.

Thanks for sharing @LeeLoving

Great post!

What a great song @GWH !

I felt like that song deserves radio play. Right when I started listening to it, it seemed recognizable and I’m not even sure if I’ve heard it before.

Thanks YOLT, I heard some of your songs on the Music Forum and appreciate your feedback.
I trust you noticed my thread on the Music Forum and hope you will review the rest of my songs either here or there.

Will do, the song you posted in this thread is very crisp. I’m going to have to check them out.

I agree that lyrics which contradict Biblical morality indicate a demonic song that should not be purchased or even listened to if possible.
An example in my experience was "Tonight's the Night" by Rod Stewart. It took several plays before it dawned on me that the singer sought to seduce the girl, so although I liked it instrumentally, I deleted it from my playlist.

The world has their style of music according to worldliness and the flesh.

I can understand some people like their style of music but do not worship God to the style of music of the world.

Use that music to tell the truth but not to worship God.

Will you sing praises to God by death metal and gangster rap.

Bye Bye Miss American Pie by Don Mclean

The transition from the 1950's golden years to the 1960's counter culture movement that had a negative impact on society.

Which caused increased selfishness, arrogance, immorality, decline in Christianity, and rebelliousness among children.

Music had a big influence on them and was kind of like their savior and comfort.

Pro 30:11 There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother.
Pro 30:12 There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness.
Pro 30:13 There is a generation, O how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids are lifted up.
Pro 30:14 There is a generation, whose teeth are as swords, and their jaw teeth as knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men.

The last generation before Jesus takes over the world.

Bye Bye Miss American Pie

A long, long time ago

I can still remember how that music

Used to make me smile

And I knew if I had my chance

That I could make those people dance

"The 1950's".

Did you write the book of love

And do you have faith in God above

If the Bible tells you so?

Now, do you believe in rock 'n' roll

Can music save your mortal soul

And can you teach me how to dance real slow?

"Where they reverenced God and the Bible as priority".

Well, I know that you're in love with him

'Cause I saw you dancin' in the gym

You both kicked off your shoes

Man, I dig those rhythm and blues

I was a lonely teenage bronckin' buck

With a pink carnation and a pickup truck

But I knew I was out of luck

The day the music died

"The 1950's sock hop".

Now, for ten years we've been on our own

And moss grows fat on a rollin' stone

But that's not how it used to be

"Basically isolated from society that did not approve of them and the nation divided".

"Where in the 1950's they were united".

When the jester sang for the king and queen

In a coat he borrowed from James Dean

And a voice that came from you and me

Oh, and while the king was looking down

The jester stole his thorny crown

The courtroom was adjourned

No verdict was returned

"Bob Dylan and his protest messages which shined with no problem".

And while Lenin read a book on Marx

A quartet practiced in the park

And we sang dirges in the dark

The day the music died

"Dirges- a lament for the dead, especially one forming part of a funeral rite".

"A mournful song, piece of music, or sound".

The players tried for a forward pass

With the jester on the sidelines in a cast

Now, the halftime air was sweet perfume

While sergeants played a marching tune

We all got up to dance

Oh, but we never got the chance

'Cause the players tried to take the field

The marching band refused to yield

Do you recall what was revealed

The day the music died?

"The sergeants is the Beatles".

"The players are the main players of the game with the marching band supporting them".

"But the players could not take the field for now the marching band are the main players".

Oh, and there we were all in one place

A generation lost in space

With no time left to start again

"Woodstock, a generation lost and confused which there was no reversal for the movement became too popular".

So, come on, Jack be nimble, Jack be quick

Jack Flash sat on a candlestick

'Cause fire is the Devil's only friend

Oh, and as I watched him on the stage

My hands were clenched in fists of rage

No angel born in Hell

Could break that Satan spell

And as the flames climbed high into the night

To light the sacrificial rite

I saw Satan laughing with delight

The day the music died

"The Rolling Stones".

I met a girl who sang the blues

And I asked her for some happy news

But she just smiled and turned away

"Janis Joplin".

"They were saying peace and love but many were not that happy like the 1950's for there was more pain, and confusion, and drugs messing them up".

"Eventually they were not in harmony with each other as from the start".

I went down to the sacred store

Where I'd heard the music years before

But the man there said the music wouldn't play

"It was over for the change the counter culture made was here to stay".

And in the streets the children screamed

The lovers cried, and the poets dreamed

But not a word was spoken

The church bells all were broken

And the three men I admire most

The Father, Son and the Holy Ghost

They caught the last train for the coast

The day the music died

They were singin', "Bye, bye, Miss American Pie"
Drove my Chevy to the levee, but the levee was dry
Them good ol' boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
Singin', "This'll be the day that I die"

Good thing the song was long!

I wonder if there is scripture backing up the kind of music that should be produced.
“Sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.” Colossians 3 v 16
Parallel echo of the same idea in Ephesians 5 v 19-20 Speak to one another with psalms, hymns,
and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your hearts to the Lord, always giving thanks

to God the Father for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

A discussion on genres that may be “music of the devil” and the role some musicians play in causing fellow believers to be tempted to rebel.

What is the correlation between Satan and Music?

Good question. And what is the correlation between Christ and music?

I sometimes wonder about the music I pump out with artificial intelligence using my voice with an AI edit to my voice.

There are so many opinions.

I wonder if there is scripture backing up the kind of music that should be produced.

I understand that we are to be holy and so the music a Christian creates should probably be holy as well.

For a few weeks or a month now, I’ve been creating Christian electronic music that sounds like modern electronic music with Christian lyrics.

Do I feel holy when I make it? No

Can it potentially earn me some money? Maybe

Do I feel somewhat of a Judas for earning money off of biblical and personal stories turned into lyrics? I did for a second until Magenta reminded me that work is good.

Do I think it sounds “cool” and can attract certain people to the faith? Maybe

@HealthAndHappiness i love a lot of your posts. I met you on here in fall of 2024 and I think over time, after your grieving period, your responses have become more sound over time.

If I for some reason start feeling convicted that making the music I’m making is leading people to hell, then for sure, I’d definitely stop.

I wonder what others will say about this thread topic.

I've listened to music and appreciate art as entertainment and creativity. It all wouldn't be appropriate for church meetings though. Personal art is something we have to take to the Lord and His word to judge.

I debated whether the art of the warrior battling the demon was appropriate for the forum. I was suffering from the most intense demonic attacks when the verse at the bottom kept coming to mind. That was one of those personal judgement calls. The art was my personal reminder of the verse and the ongoing battles.

The Bible describes music that glorifies Him. I don't think it's a specific genre. We are told to sing hymns, psalms and spiritual songs. Lots of musical instruments are mentioned too, so there's probably much freedom in music..
One life principle that covers many applications that we can judge for ourselves by is this.

31Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
.
May the Lord guide and direct you in all things.

Interesting topic.... There is a love song I must have listened to hundreds of times over several decades. When the Lord saved saved me at the ripe age of 55, I suddenly realized that verse 3 can only be about meeting the Lord Jesus Christ. I came to tears.

And so it was that I came to travel
Upon a road that was thorned and narrow
Another place, another grace
Would save me
