Water baptism in the name of Jesus for remission of sin is NOT John's baptism. It is a NT command that is still in effect and will continue to be so until Jesus returns. See Luke 24:47.
I do not use the so called "gospels" to construct doctrine.

The N.T is far from perfect.

If you believe that every word in the gospels are written by God, that is, four perfect accounts.

1 Corinthians 13:10
But when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away.

That will be your claim that the N.T is perfect and that claim dominates traditional Christianity.

Now you need to support your claim that the gospels are perfect.

Then please explain why the gospels offer contradictory resurrection accounts.

Here is your chance to defend your claim!

Both water baptism in the name of Jesus and receiving the Holy Ghost are essential elements of the NT rebirth as witnessed directly in scripture. (Act 2:4, 33-42, 8:12-18, 10:43:48, 19:1-7, 22:16...)
Is that water baptism in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Or is that the baptism in the name of Jesus?

If you had a choice:

1) water baptism

2) baptism in the Holy Spirit

Which would you choose?

I don't ignore baptism. I simply put water baptism in its proper place. Subsequent to salvation as all works must be. (Acts 10:43-48; Ephesians 2:8,9) I have been water baptized and have not not ignored Christ or His teaching authority in His Church, which is the body of Christ. (Colossians 1:18, 24)
You willfully ignore the purpose of baptism. This is quite clear.

The remission of sin is never "subsequent to salvation. Baptism is a work of God not man. Baptism is a covenant that we must submit to , much like the wearing of the proper garment at a wedding.

Matthew 22:11-12

11 “But when the king came in to see the guests, he noticed a man there who was not wearing wedding clothes. 12 He asked, ‘How did you get in here without wedding clothes, friend?’ The man was speechless.

"I have been water baptized and have not not ignored Christ or His teaching authority in His Church"

No you have not been water baptized for the remission of sins.

You just took a bath.

and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ, (1st Peter 3:21)

You have not submitted to the work of God.

You have not submitted to the "it" therefore you have no wedding clothes, just your filthy faith alone regeneration theology rags.

I have the remission of sins at baptism not because of what I did but what Jesus did by His resurrection.

Water baptism and repentance of sin was precisely what John the Baptist taught.

Jesus taught that baptism was with the Holy Spirit and fire.

Jesus constantly spoke of that inner regeneration.

Please don't tell me that a sprinkle of water on your head is critical for salvation.

"Choose"?

How can one choose whatever you are labeling as baptism in the Holy Spirit.

The gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38) is not something you can choose but simply and humbly accept.

This post is all one needs to understand your view of the scriptures.

Please do not ever 1783546850554.pngany of my comments. I cannot take the shame.

False religion isolates pet verses, distorts and perverts passages of scripture in an effort to "patch together" an erroneous gospel plan, instead of reading scripture in context and properly harmonizing scripture with scripture before reaching its conclusion on doctrine.
I can say the exact same thing about faith alone regeneration theology.

A theology that cannot even find "faith alone" in the Bible and simply surmises it into existence.

Oh, you can choose one or the other.

The same way you can choose to obey or disobey the Lord's commandment.

1 Corinthians 14:37
If anyone thinks he is a prophet or spiritual, let him recognize that the things which I write to you are
the Lord’s commandment.

You definitely can choose who you will follow.

Whether you follow the clergy or you are led by the Holy Spirit.

Christianity was never about rituals.

Is the book of Acts the source of doctrine?

Is Luke a chosen apostle?

Is Luke's account of the early church an accurate account?

If you are a Gentile then the only source for primary doctrine will be the apostle to the Gentiles.

Not Luke, Matthew, or Mark.
You seem to be a touch squirrely.

You forgot remission of sins. Mark 1:4
So does the forgiveness of sins happen if you repent of your sin and are sprinkled with water?

Did John the Baptist preach salvation through water baptism and repentance from sin?

You seem to be a touch squirrely.
Just narrowing down what the source is for the primary doctrine.

Will I rely on a letter from Luke to a fellow named Theophilus to establish the doctrine of the church?

Luke also wrote the book of Acts and will I use the book of Acts to establish church doctrine?

So who did Jesus send to teach us all things was it Luke or Mark?

Okay, I will bite.

How do you choose to be baptized by the Holy Spirit?

Sounds like a work.
You can definitely choose to be baptized in water or not.

You also can choose which church you want to attend.

If you attend the church of Scientology will you receive the Holy Spirit?

If you attend the Jehovah's Witnesses will you be filled with the Holy Spirit?

You definitely can fellowship with different groups of believers but what they believe matters in the end.

Which directly affects whether you receive the Holy Spirit with power or not.

It's your choice.

Paul was still preaching water baptism in the name of Jesus some 20+ years after the initial command was given at Pentecost.

And, in regards to 1 Cor. 1:27 context matters. Paul's primary ministry was not to do the water baptizing. A thorough study bears this out.
Now I see.... It took Paul some time to break free of the unquestioned traditions that everyone was doing without any reason to question. It was when Paul began to receive direct revelations of God of the "Mystery" of the Church that Paul began to depart from the traditions and enter into the new way of life Christ showed him directly.

You willfully ignore the purpose of baptism. This is quite clear.
What is quite clear is your confusion.
The remission of sin is never "subsequent to salvation. Baptism is a work of God not man.
Faith in Jesus Christ "implied in genuine repentance" (rather than water baptism) brings the remission of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit (Luke 24:47; Acts 2:38; 3:19; 5:31; 10:43-47; 11:17,18; 13:38-39; 15:7-9; 16:31; 26:18). *Perfect Harmony*

Baptism originated with God yet man accomplishes the mechanical act (work) of water baptizing converts.
Baptism is a covenant that we must submit to, much like the wearing of the proper garment at a wedding.
False. Baptism is a covenant sign, symbolic act. It functions as a public declaration of a believer's commitment to Christ, much like a wedding ring symbolizes a marriage covenant, yet baptism is not the covenant itself.

The wedding garment represents the righteousness of Christ that is received through faith. (Romans 4:5-6; Philippians 3:9). You need to read the parable of the wedding feast in context. The king sent his servants to summon selected guests to the banquet, but they ignored the invitation and others mistreated and killed the servants. This part of the parable represents Israel’s collective rejection of Jesus as the Messiah. Then it depicts the inclusion of the Gentiles into God’s plan, the king expanded the banquet invitation to anyone his servants could. The wedding invitation to those who were not previously invited anticipates the spreading of the gospel to the Gentiles.
No you have not been water baptized for the remission of sins.
I was water baptized "in regard to/on the basis of" the remissions of sins I received upon repentance/faith. That is what I was water baptized for and not in order to obtain the remission of sins/false gospel of baptismal regeneration.
You just took a bath.
If one sets out to put on a wedding garment in water baptism, without becoming a Christian (child of God through faith), then one becomes an imposter, and is declaring, in baptism, to be what they are not. Baptism is just a bath for make believers.
and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ, (1st Peter 3:21)
Peter said that baptism now saves you-not the removal of dirt from the flesh (that is, not as an outward, physical act which washes dirt from the body--that is not what saves you), "but an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ" (that is, as an inward, spiritual transaction between God and the individual, a transaction that is symbolized by the outward ceremony of water baptism).
You have not submitted to the work of God. You have not submitted to the "it" therefore you have no wedding clothes, just your filthy faith alone regeneration theology rags.
To the contrary, I have submitted to the work of God. This is the work of God that you believe in Him in whom He has sent. (John 6:29)

I have submitted to the right it -not the removal of dirt from the flesh "but an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ".

The wedding garment represents the righteousness of Christ that is received through faith and not the filthy rags of works righteousness, baptismal regeneration.
I have the remission of sins at baptism not because of what I did but what Jesus did by His resurrection.
You remain confused and your indoctrination runs deep. :(

I can say the exact same thing about faith alone regeneration theology.

A theology that cannot even find "faith alone" in the Bible and simply surmises it into existence.
The Bible makes it clear in many passages of scripture that man is saved through belief/faith - "apart from additions or modifications." (John 1:12; 3:15,16,18,36; 5:24; 6:29,40,47; 11:25,26; Acts 10:43; 13:38-39; 15:7-9; 16:31; 26:18; Romans 1:16; 3:24-28; 4:5-6; 5:1-2; 10:4; 1 Corinthians 1:21; Galatians 2:16; 3:6-14, 26; Ephesians 2:8,9; Philippians 3:9; 2 Timothy 3:15; Hebrews 10:39; 1 John 5:13 etc..).

Now one does not need to "add" the word "alone" next to "belief/faith" in each of those passages of scripture in order to figure out that the words, "belief/faith" stand alone in connection with receiving eternal life/salvation. Hence, FAITH ALONE. Do these many passages of scripture say belief/faith "plus something else?" Plus, baptism? Plus, works? NO. So, then it's faith (rightly understood) in Jesus Christ alone. ✝️

Which is not to be confused with an empty profession of faith/dead faith that remains "alone" barren of works. (James 2:14-24)
