May i ask who these people are that you say think their works actually save them?
I don't know a single person brave enough to suggest that, not even in cc.
People say they believe they are saved by Jesus plus their works.

For example, people believe they are saved by believing in Jesus and enduring in that belief all their life.

Which is not true.

We are saved by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ only.

Our endurance does not contribute to our salvation in any way.

So Grace through Faith, unmerited favor through a personal surrender to Him and a life inspired by such surrender doesn't fly with you?

No faith required?

Salvation is a free gift given to those that believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus, and confess His name.

Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 10:9
That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead,
you will be saved.

Now for the secondary matter of your Christian life.

1 Timothy 1:5
The goal of our instruction is the love that comes from a pure heart, a clear conscience, and a sincere faith.

We boast in Christ and not in some work we have done.

Saved by GRACE through faith not saved by your faith.

Ephesians 2:8
For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not of yourselves, it is the gift of God.

That's why faith on it's own cannot fly.

You must be perfect to enter the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 5:28
Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Absolute perfection and nothing less.

There is only one way to become perfect!

Christ's faith is required, not man's. Christ alone is the Savior.

So the noun Faith, pistis used 245 times, and the verb pisteuo used 248 times has nothing to do with us, only Christ.

Thats top 10 worst interpretations I've ever heard.

Hmmm - wow, made it to the top 10 - that's really something - never got that far before - thanks, appreciate it.

Anyway, I think that you are confusing the cause of salvation with the evidence of salvation. In Ephesians 2:8, when Paul says we are saved by grace through faith, that faith is Christ's own perfect faith and faithfulness which brought salvation to fruition by His allegiance to the Father's plan of salvation. It is not a faith that comes from/by man's psychological efforts. For a spiritually dead sinner to be saved - for those who are to become saved- God's grace and Christ's faith alone freely do all of the saving work. The personal faith and belief that we later exercise is merely the direct fruit and byproduct that flows from that completed salvation. Your belief is the evidence that God has saved you; it is never a currency you use to buy your salvation from Him.

John 6:28
Then they inquired, “What must we do to perform the works of God?”

The Jews asked Jesus what works they must do to ensure themselves of salvation?

John 6:29
Jesus replied, “The work of God is this: to believe in the One He has sent.”

Jesus performed a perfect atonement and an eternal atonement and once for all.

We cannot perform a work that has any eternal consequences.

Personally, I struggle with bearing the fruit of the Holy Spirit.

Which is far more important than works.

Having the full fruit of the Holy Spirit is being Christ like in all our behavior towards even our enemies.

Does the phrase, "saved by faith" equivalent to the term, "saved by faith alone"?
Saved is not the issue, it’s walking it out after you get saved. Most of us got saved without understanding it all. It’s kind of like paying for something. You know that if you pay, then you get what you pay for (in essence). We all heard the salvation message, God stirred our hearts, we decided to give (pay/ exercise faith) what it took to get the reward (Jesus/ Salvation). Most everyone has a different experience

So if what your saying is true, everyone ever born would be saved.

Care to undo that?

Undo that? No, no need to. I included " for those who are to become saved"; that is, those who were elected by God unto salvation from before the foundation of the world which does not include everyone.

What do you mean by “saved”. Do you also mean “baptized with the Holy Spirit”? If so, are some elected to be saved but not be filled with the Holy Spirit? Not sure why you keep falling back on the “election” thing as an excuse to not do good. Some people don’t need a salvation message. Sometimes they need a tire changed, or taken to the store (whether they ever get saved or not).

By 'saved,' I mean exactly what scripture means: being justified and given new spiritual life strictly by God's grace and Christ's finished work. At the exact moment of salvation, every believer becomes indwelt with the Holy Spirit.
Pointing out that Christ alone saves is not an excuse to avoid good works. It puts good works in their proper place. We change tires and help people because the Holy Spirit has changed our hearts, not because we are trying to earn our way into heaven. Christ's true faith is the root; our good works are the fruit

By your understanding, there is nobody becoming saved. The faith of Christ has saved everyone at birth., everyone!
No need to follow Him, no choices need to be made, no election either.

@Burn1986

Sorry, I wanted to correct the above statement as it isn't as accurate as it should have been.
Instead, I should have said " At the exact moment of salvation, everyone who becomes saved is indwelt with the Holy Spirit, by whom, they will come to a true belief in Jesus Christ as Savior". It is all God's work, none by man.

No, by your understanding, every person every born would be saved and filled with the Holy spirit at the moment of birth.

Iyo, Christ did everything, nothing is required by us for salvation. No process whatsoever.

No, that is not what I said. I said, "for those who are to become saved" -not that everyone will become saved - in post 3448.
However, for those who had been chosen unto salvation by God from before the foundation of the world, they do nothing whatsoever to obtain it. It is a completely free gift given by God's divine prerogative through His exceeding mercy and grace by Jesus Christ, the Savior.

You said grace through faith is the faith of Christ. No action by any human being needed.
So by your understanding all people ever born into this world would be automatically saved by grace through the faith of Christ.

Are you saying that after Jesus pays the debt for sin, and then chooses Himself for everyone, he's going to exclude some people?

No, only those elected by God from before the foundation of the world will become saved. Jesus did not pay the debt for
everyone, only for His elect - for those, and for only those, that He elected unto salvation from before the foundation of the world.
