Well thats a whole new definition of faith.

I suggest you find the Vines and Strongs and take a good look. None of what you defined is in either one of them.

It is applicable. I was defining what faith does in salvation. Not what it is as for its definition in isolation.

Faith comes by hearing the Word of God!

"So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Romans 10:17
Hearing = perceiving its meaning.

I have used Vines and Strongs. I own copies. I have other reference books too.
They can help in determining the root meaning of certain words, but can not tell you how the context in which they are found, effects their meaning in the passage.

After years of study ... (we all do)

The lifesaver I found through prayer was, and still is, this...

https://rbthieme.org/about-us

He breaks down the meanings in their context and presents a picture historically of what was tasking place at the time of writing.
Totally dedicated. Taught six nights a week, and studied all the time. If he were not a very strong man physically he could never have done it.

grace and peace....

I have copies also, use them everyday.

When I had and am having the experience that comes from a continually surrendered life, when i saw the definitions I knew God wanted me to try to persuade others to follow in true faith.

It is not so much 'saved by faith.'
It's... Faith because we are saved.

God gives faith to the saved.
Why?

It begins with us being totally unaware of what is taking place in the invisible realm.

God, knowing those who are His?
He gives them faith so we can begin to understand what is going on.

......

God gives faith to everyone, which can be placed in God's Word or in Satan's lie (as Adam and Eve did).
TULIP and other heresies are examples of the latter.

So your misrepresent me to keep standing on sand, I never said anything about trusting in myself.

Dishonest reporters i can't give truth to, good bye.
Sorry brother

when you say YOU MUST SURRENDER AND YOU MUST KEEP SURRENDERING

That is trust in self not God.

You can deny it all you want.. I am used to it.. No one who trust in self actually admits it.

But all the same..

You would be better looking at more than just vines.

You would be better finding scriptural examples. Romans 4 is the greatest example. especially since Paul says we are saved by that type of faith

I think you must be confusing me with somebody else. You say that you have been reading my posts for a few years now, but I only joined Christian Chat last year, in February 2025. I have believed as I do now for many years, indeed since soon after becoming a Christian about 55 years ago, so I don't understand what you wrote about me having changed since my first posts on CC, unless, as I say, you have confused me with somebody else.
i remember you from Christian forums

f the latter.

I think it would prudent if you elaborated what God actually gives us.

You said God gives us faith. Lets assume your talking about the noun pistis in the Greek. Now does God give us the actual reliance upon Him, the commitment to Him, the conviction to Him?or does He give us the ability to rely upon Him, the ability to commit ourselves to Him?

I'll wait for your reply to proceed.

You've not said one thing that equates to you being my brother, so that makes you an enemy of myself and God. Until you fulfill the faith mandate, that won't change.

So if I'm on a battlefield and the enemy has his foot on my neck, and I have a choice to die or surrender to be a slave, if I choose surrendering to be a slave, I'm trusting in myself?

Im submitting all to the one mandating to die or live as a slave. No rights whatsoever.
Thats not trusting in yourself. How can you trust in something your giving away?

More dishonesty!

And, you got one part exactly right. Faith is something we must do and keep on doing.

How about actually having the real born again experience first, then you will know the truth when you see it.

It's very simple.

God actually gives us faith/MFW, which noun can be verbalized by believing God's Word or Satan's lie (as Adam and Eve did).
IF we exercise/verbalize faith/MFW rightly by accepting/surrendering to Jesus as Lord, God gives us the HS.
IF we cooperate with the HS/live the surrendered life, God gives us spiritual maturity/the mind of Christ.
IF we remain faithful/surrendered until death, God gives us resurrection to heaven/the crown of eternal joy/fellowship.

So do you think one called out by the Father makes any choice when or if they respond to the caller, the first step of faith towards the caller?

Or, does God make the choices for that one.

IYU, do we do anything when we respond in faith, or is it all God?

I don't mean for it to sound like a dumb question, but that seems to be what we're dealing with here.

And, you got one part exactly right. Faith is something we must do and keep on doing.

That sounds good.
But I do not think you really know yet what faith does yet.

Faith comes by hearing the Word of God.
We need someone with the gift, to keep teaching us the Word of God with accuracy.

Faith is not actually something we do.
Faith is something that transforms us as to become the one doing something.

What we do is the result of having become transformed by faith.
We are in need to keep growing in faith as to advance in our maturity in Christ.

For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith,
just as it has been written: “And the righteous one will live by faith.” Romans 1:17

The bad news is....

If your pastor teacher is weak in his understanding of what he teaches?
His hearers will become a casualty of spiritual warfare.
For faith comes by hearing the Word of God!

You want a good teacher?

Any human can create robots. God created souls who have MFW/faith and thus are accountable for their choice to cooperate with God's Word or to ignore and demean God's Holy Spirit. Cooperation is NOT meritorious (John 6:29)!

Why should God offer evil Cain the opportunity to not kill Abel?
After all… God knew that Abel would be just fine eternally either way Cain chose.

God was not simply trying to get Cain to spare Abel's life.
God, in love, was trying to get Cain to be spared from His judgment.

You have a major problem to begin with. We are not saved by Faith. We are saved by grace.

This grace is only Applied the moment we in faith call out.

Your issue is your trying to defend a certain theology. Your question is flawered based onb that fact
The question is flawed because I am trying to defend a certain theology?

Then I suggest that your response is flawed because of your attempt to defend a certain theology.

Not sure what your point is but the question is rather simple.

Does the phrase "saved by faith" mean the same as "saved by faith alone"?

How about this.

Does the phrase "I am going to the store" mean the same as "I am going to the store alone"?

Again, it is not a hard question to answer unless you are trying to defend a certain theology.

People who are bound to faith alone regeneration theology are forced to add "alone" into rather simple and general verses in order to have some validity to their narrative.

As a result, they are also forced to negate other verses that speak of obedience as part the gospel.

Any human can create robots. God created souls who have MFW/faith and thus are accountable for their choice to cooperate with God's Word or to ignore and demean God's Holy Spirit. Cooperation is NOT meritorious (John 6:29)!
The million-dollar question is?

How could God create all our souls without knowing which way we would choose?

Unless God shows the answer to someone?
We could never guess.

To all those insisting that the term "Saved by faith" holds the same meaning as "Saved by faith alone", could someone insist that "He went to the store" holds the same meaning as "He went to the store alone"?

Lets be honest.

Lets be honest.

When a prisoner is released from prison he is often given some money to help him settle back into society.

He was not delivered from jail by that money.
That money did not save him.

For it is grace that unlocks our cell door.
Faith is only the money we are handed upon release.
