Really? A teacher is told there is an assembly but he misunderstands and takes the whole class instead of asking who wants to go and who doesn't and taking those that don't where ever they need to go. This sounds like the Administration didn't plan properly. Usually kids who don't want to go to an assembly go to the gym. It is not unusual that if only two teachers made this mistake then they were almost certainly new teachers unfamiliar with the school. So I'm not going to blame the principal, new teachers make all kinds of mistakes like this. But once you get to the event the new teacher cannot leave those kids unsupervised. He/she can't let them loose in the halls either. Now an experienced teacher probably could have figured out a workaround.

So before I castigate the teacher or the principal I want to hear from other teachers, the veterans, that were there. Did these kids make it clear they didn't want to be there to them or is this someone makeing a mountain out of a mole hill later.

The idea that freedom of speech can be interpreted as "freedom from speech" is absurd. You have the freedom to ignore the speech but you can't claim your rights have been violated because you heard someone exercising their freedom of speech. If that were true then there is no freedom of speech.

Again, the solution to this whole mess is very simple. Christians, pull your kids out of the public school and homeschool up to 8th grade. Everyone should be able to do that, especially if you work in conjunction with your local church and perhaps a retired teacher.
 
The school districts I attended growing up thier policy was, If Thier was going to be ANYTHING that would be considered offensive present in school you would need a parent to sign a permission slip. If not you would participate in an alternative.

Topics such as abortion, sex, evolution, politics and religion.

This worked out really well and I'm confused as to why it has changed or they don't do it everywhere.

Yes they flipped it around so that parents have to request their kid not attend. Since many parents are too busy to know what is going on and the kids don't either very few will sign such a letter.

Now my feeling is if the policy concerning sex ed is that you have to have a parent request the kid not attend, then that should also be the policy for this event where the poor kids were subjected to listening to a person who was a Christian. These parents are making a big fuss, did they write a letter prior to this saying they don't want their kid to attend? Of course not otherwise they would have been making that the centerpiece of their complaint.

So you may not fully appreciate the hypocrisy, so let me explain. The principal deals with parents complaining all the time. This is why they changed the policy to shut them up. Parent complains about their 4th grader being subjected to a sex ed lesson that is pornographic the principal tells parent that we sent a letter home saying if you don't want your kid to attend simply sign the letter and have your child return it. Very few ever do. Usually because the kid neglects to show the letter to the parent. So problem is with your child, not the school. But now the same thing happens with this event and they forgot that this is the protocol? No, this is contrived and the powers that be are playing dumb. In fact this may very well have been a set up, knowing they could blame a couple of new teachers who have not yet gotten tenure. If you don't have tenure they can fire you without any cause, it is like being on probation at a new job, only for teachers this probation lasts for five years.

Yes, and "Nazis were just doing their job" too. If a teacher doesn't know that making a student stay and attend a worship service is violating that student's first amendment rights, then I question their ability to even teach in the first place. Be it the teachers, the principal, etc... the point is that first amendment applies to the students and should be known.

I don't think anyone should be castrated for this. Neither do I think violating someone's first amendment is a "mole hill". I think the school/teachers should be educated on basic/elementary and fundamental civil liberties. It sounds like they have been. I'm good with that as it seems reasonable.

I think you misread what I said. I said, I have freedom of religion and "freedom from religion." While "speech" is another first amendment right, we are not free from anyone's speech in public... which, my understanding this was a public institution that made it mandatory to stay for the service. However, the students couldn't freely leave as to not be subjected to the free speech that was being forced down their throats. The freedom of speech isn't what is being questioned here...

That's a solution. Another one is ensuring the teachers you hire are competent enough to know basic and fundamental civil liberties. That sounds like the easiest approach that yields the greatest impact.

Yep, since we really don't have all the facts lets compare them to Nazis. Gassing Jews during the holocaust is certainly comparable to having to sit through a speaker you disagree with.

No one was forced to worship some God they didn't believe in. This wasn't a speaker talking about Climate change or gender fluidity.

From 1st-college from a major land grant university I had to listen to teachers try to convert me to their state sponsored (tax payer funded) religion of Atheism/ Darwinism. Darwinism has it's roots in Buddhism and Hinduism as well as pagan religions from all over the world. Satan pushes it as the antithesis of the Almighty Creator's truth. How many complain about THAT and do something about it?

Christ gave me the commission to share the Creator with many West Virginia schools. Praises to Him alone, because it was a blessing to many including myself. It went against the state sponsored religion, yet God opened the doors. There were many requests for me to speak to the young people. The only complaint I can remember was from the pastor and his assistant at a fundamental Christian school in Weirton. They took me out to lunch and ordered for me. Then they offered me a teaching position. I humbly thanked them but declined the job offer. They both got angry like two spoiled children that didn't get their way. They cancelled the order and took me back to the school to finish out my day without a meal. 😄
Praise the Lord, that was a good day!
That's good if that's all the complaining I got. Surprisingly, the public schools and every Christian school that I know of was blessed.

I've got another goal that I'm working on right now, but anyone who invites me, I will gladly share the good news of our Creator and Savior any day of the week at every school in West Virginia, from Gent to Weirton. May all those children get saved before they are adults, in the Name of Jesus Christ!

If the Muslim club invited a cleric to speak at the school and a student didn't want to go they would be mocked as Islamaphobic or racist. If a Hindu or Buddhist came to speak to the school it would be a school wide assembly and called a "cultural exchange". Idolatry is rampant in the US and everywhere in the schools. These books that are pornographic in the Elementary school libraries, that is not accidental or an oversight. You have to jump through many hoops to get a book approved by a school district and then it still has to be selected by the appropriate staff. If they teach the book in the English class then the teachers have read it first. Very few teachers would select some of these books so then they are directed to do so by the principal who was probably given their marching orders from the Superintendent who got them from the Chancellor. This is indoctrination, pure and simple. When Clinton was president the Democratic party moved hard to the left on this issue of sex because they were claiming that 10% of the population was homosexual. That was a lie. It was really closer to 1%. They know the best time to get your kids is when they are in elementary school. They are filling the elementary schools with "groomers" who are intentionally trying to get your kids to become sexual deviants. They know that kids who are sexually active in HS are much more likely to end up divorced and in broken marriages. If you are divorced your kids grow up in poverty and you are unable to properly surpervise them and so they will essentially become wards of the state to be indoctrinated by the state. Parents are responsible for their kids education, you cannot put the blame on some groomer. It is a sin. It could be a sin of ignorance, but not anymore. It is absurd to leave an 8 year old child in school with the hope that if you talk to the school board they will do a better job of hiring and selecting books. The fox is in the henhouse.

It was voluntary with a sign up sheet but two teachers misunderstood and brought their entire class.

Where's the outrage when tranny people give talks at a school assembly? Working to convince impressionable minds their agenda is the new normal.

Or demon lookalikes read to children at the local public library? Where's the outrage?

But bring Christ to school and it's an outrage?

This is excellent information BJ.
I'm glad that I never bought new siding. I was wondering about the use of PVC in the end product since the chemical spill of vinal chloride. My siding is aluminum and antique cedar and redwood. I have no good reason to ever replace them. The wood is best natural and the aluminum siding takes paint easily. I would not want to buy a new house with all of the chemicals outgassing from every material.

There were new housing communities going up in our area until building material prices skyrocketed.
Now former farm properties have sold signs displayed along with the pending name of the new community. Its been a couple of years and they're yet to break ground.

If those that are now complete it becomes for me a not in your life issue.
Homes starting in the low 300's. But they're prefab houses. Meaning they arrive in parts on flatbed trucks and can be completely built in as little as 3 days.

Fiberboard plywood, not full on plywood. PVC siding. And beneath that is Tyvex insulation sheets that will cannot be exposed to high heat or flame.
Wrapping wooden houses in that is a good idea?

I understand how parents do not want their children to be misled by a preacher from a different denomination.
If I ever find a good woman to have a family with, they will be er be indoctrinated with the religion of evolutionism or with Darwinism, one of the denominations of the Hindu religion. They will be required to take Bible study classes as taught by a qualified teacher. I don't know if the guy that club of students in Huntington invited is a qualified minister who is saved knows the gospel. He might not be. God made fathers the responsible adults in charge of their children's education. That doesn't exclude mother's. They are often the first choice for prime, qualified teachers of their own children. Under modern culture, it is the common choice to turn the children over to the state to choose religious upbringing and every else. That's a primary reason why America is on a downward spiral.

The housing costs for purchase and rentals are very high in my area too. I still see large homes worth about a million going up around here. I think that professionals see the rate of inflation and are investigating in real estate to hold value of that dollar. Lumber alone is ridiculous and this is a lumber rich state.

I just counted 76 advertising saw mills in WV.
There are far more smaller less active mills on farms and that do special runs. We have a lot of hardwoods. Many are shipped to the middle east oil princes for top dollar.

The outrage is in plenty of other threads. I didn't call for outrage, by the way... but you know what, maybe I should have.

I made my points early on in the thread.

1) You can't be trying to force-feed the gospel to people.
2) You especially cannot use government to force-feed any religion.

Like I said if the shoe was on the other foot, and they forced your kids to go into an Islamic service- you know that's a gross violation of their rights and your rights as a parent as well. We obviously want other religions to respect the church and state division, and we want government to respect the church and state division... and it's hypocrisy when we make an exception for ourselves, and say "it's okay when I do it".
