"Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all these things will be added unto you"
It amazes me how like our entire lives are trying to learn to trust God. And it also amazes me how easy it is to try and flip that quote of scripture around so we try and do our stuff first and His second. And in that I am also entirely guilty.
We're humans, we all mistakes. When we're first saved we ask the Lord to come into our lives. The thing is, as we grow older in our walk with Him, we realize we have a lot of stuff in our lives that need to be cleaned out to make room for what His plans are.. And His stuff is better. Infinitely better! But we don't always believe that.
I work in an area where there are a lot of little children, who sometimes want to keep the accouterments they're given such as 3D glasses (which are for the 3D movie and they would have no use for) or the little toys we use to show how a butterfly's anatomy works. They always say the say thing: "It's mine!" Yes, it was in their posession, but only for a little while. You try to tell them, "you don't need it" or "it's not really yours" but that isn't good enough. You find yourself smiling in loving exasperation since they don't realize there is something better just ahead, and for the eventual crying that happens.
I can imagine the Lord does that so much with us.
"But God, this job was everything I wanted." What I have for you is better.
"But God, I loved them. How could you take them away?" They were yours for a bit, now they're back home.
"But God, I can't feed my family. Why aren't you here!?" I am.
I by no means have the answer, nor do I criticize anyone that has those questions and trials. I am 800% talking to myself in the fact that I need to trust Him more. I guess my point is, we never stop learning to trust Him. We don't ever "arrive" at being a mature Christian. And if anyone thinks that, myself included, we gotta ask God to help us with our pride.
I guess I just ask, can we make it a goal to pray like every day to learn to trust Him more? Cuz I know I need to.
