Sex before marriage is FORNICATION. Fornication is an abomination in the eyes of God.

The origin of the word derives from Latin. The word fornix means "an archway" or "vault" and it became a common euphemism for a brothel as prostitutes could be solicited in the vaults beneath Rome. More directly, fornicatio means "done in the archway"; thus it originally referred to prostitution. The first recorded use of the noun in its modern meaning was in 1303 AD, with the verb fornicate first recorded around 250 years later.[2]
Fornication is dealt with differently in various religions, societies and cultures.

Yeah fornication is a sin "visiting brothels or with prostitutes" as the original meaning and no later translation mistakes.

But fornication is not sex before getting marrried with a couple, it would be just with a prostitute.

Hmmm..
to my mind, it is better to try before marriage. you have to know if the person is acceptable to you. this kind of nearness is very special.. we may think that our future husband/ wive is The One, The Only One, The Perfect One..But living in marriage consist not just of being psychologically close. I just do not think that unacceptable body could become acceptable.. we have to know this before our marriage. we have to know future wive's/ husband's body before marrying. that's what I think.

This may be a bit off topic for a moment - apologies!

The basis of marriage is something completely above and beyond physical. You shouldn't pick away at the person you're with and decide if they have the "acceptable" body! I'm sorry, but that is incredibly wrong. The person God means you to be with will be just fine the way they are - but if you are basing that ONE part of the person as the yes or no ticket, then there are going to be some seriously messed up relationships. The world teaches us women that we need to be stick thin and completely made up to be considered beautiful. The world shows guys that if they aren't tall and dark and boasting a six pack, then they aren't sexy. The thing is the connection you should have with the person you are going to spend your life with is not going to purely physical. And to experiment with sex before marriage to grade their body is wrong and selfish and degrading. NO ONE deserves to have who they are evaluated that way - but alas - that is what the world teaches.

Attraction from God (my opinion alone) is going to be something far deeper that physical. The more you get to know that person as the beautiful individual they are, the more attracted you may become. I'm not saying that you will one day grow to think the guy is gorgeous if you don't think that when you meet him - I just mean that you have to look at ALL aspects of a marriage. Sex being one of great importance but not the basis of the marriage. I believe you should love that person so whole-heartidly that even if one day they became horribly disfigured, you would still have an amazing love for them - because that love you had to begin with was never based on whether you thought their body was acceptable, or accomadating enough. (sorry to be crude)

So, as you can probably guess, I do not agree with sex before marriage. I agree with what MusicalMe said a few pages back about Sex Education in churches! I never, ever had those points covered. It was always "DONT DO IT". And as I entered relationships, I excused some of the sinful things I did by saying "Well, it's not going all the way, so its ok to do this." But now that those relationships are over, I feel a tie to those guys...one that I will never lose. Sex is also emotional. It doesn't just tie you to a person physically - but emotionally as well. We have degraded sex so much in our society. Now it's all about big this and how sexy she/he is physically. It's not about what God intended it for. I believe we need to be more controlling, and accept that it will NEVER be easy to wait - especially when you finally meet that one person you want to grow old with - but God will never tempt us with more than we can handle

...hurtful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction and miserable perishing. 1 Timothy 6: 9 (sex can be a hurtful desire when misused)

Now if [all these things are true, then be sure] the Lord knows how to rescue the godly out of temptations and trials... 2 Peter 2: 9
(there is no excuse for us)

Sex is a physical and emotional act. To grade someone based on their body is wrong. Their soul should be of more worth to you. No, I'm not saying to marry someone just because they qualify as the good christian. By all means I am 155% for marrying someone you are VERY attracted to! But you can't marry someone you aren't attracted to just because they are a good christian - and you can't marry someone just because you are physically attracted to them! My solution - wait for GOD - He made you and knows exactly who to bring along. Someone you will find emotionally, physically and spiritually compatible - without experimentation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

wow...LONG! sorry! SO NO SEX TILL MARRIAGE IS MY CHOICE!

Sex before marriage is absolutely wrong and very dangerous for anyone who is involved on the malpractise.Sex is a tool that can engage two naive people spiritually, once it happend,u are spiritually married to that person. Sex is a powerful instrument used by satan to ruin people's lives who are naive of the subject[sex].Sex is not ordinary as we all may think,is more of spiritual than physical. It is the exchange of life, curses, covenants, spirits, blessingetc.SEX IS NOT LOVE!!! Any relationship that have their foundation rooted or based on sex,is heading to eternal destruction! That's why BIBLE said,we should flee from fornication. My advice to u all,is good to have it when u are MARRIED.NOT WHEN U ARE ENGAGED!!! GOD BLESS!!!

No way ... cause Sex and marriage is Holy things in God's sight... u have to respect it... sex is not just for pleasure !

Sex before marriage makes it Sin ! ... but if u have sinned.... u should repent and marry the same person and never leave her/him!

God bless !

"SEX is God project meant for married people" of course sex before marrige is called fornication which is sin before the eyes of God.When you have sex with someone you become one body, therefor instead of defiling the temple of God you better marry and there will be no condemination in you spirit.Have the spirit of self control so that you will not give the devil the chance to use you rather God to take pre-eminence in your life. When you have sex before marrige you will not get the"fan" in it .infact you will not get the sence of marriage.

I would be a hypocrite to say I am against sex before marriage because I have had sex before marriage. I have never been married so if I waited...
I am a single mom, never been divorced...never been married but I have a beautiful, very cute, lovable child that if I waited for a man that believed in marriage before sex I wouldnt have my little guy.
I know god has forgiven me for my past mistakes and I know he loves my son, so please dont judge me.

Well no priest or lawyer married Adam and Eve God did. If two people meet, make children, and take vows without a priest or lawyer THEY ARE MARRIED BY GOD.

I consider this as much a sin as taking money for absolvation of sins a minister taking money to marry someone. That's why my wife and I in our monogamy two years now haven't gone and seen a judge or priest to marry us. But neither of us have ever been with anyone but the other.

We want marriage pictures and stuff one day, but honestly I'd rather get my father to marry us or something... it's really something you should respect your parents on the topic... but you know what it happens. One of the reasons we have so many teen pregnancy is parents do not early on teach children what gender, sex, and a real parent to child relationship is about because they married for the money.

Money should never be a factor at all in marriages. I assure you once the father wises on that it's better for his children that he work three jobs and feed his kids rather than be a deadbeat and pay half the child support they would as a deadbeat. The real fathers are the ones that work for their kids... let the wife take care of the kids my dad is right children belong with their mothers.

But is premarital sex the sin of adultery itself. I would have to pose it to you this way.

Is rape an area of deep dark black sin where someone is a victim of a crime from a sex predator.

Or is it an area of grey between two SINGLE NO VOWS GIVEN ADULTS.

Children will always experiment. Most people do believe in love at first sight.

Let me tell you they have done their best to cause this seperation between my wife and I after two years and four children. I'll happily pay child support but the famiy stepped in and adopted the kids. We do get to see them soon I hope...

But some ministers not all are saying that since I did this without a priest or a lawyer's consent and didn't pay the money that I have adultered.

When did marriage stop being about the fact you two have kids (man I assure you that woman loves you for giving her a good child and woman he loves the part about you taking such good care of them IN THE FACE OF ADVERSITY).

I am a very poor diabled military veteran who decided to have children. I WANTED TO BE FRUITFUL AND MULTIPLY AS THE BIBLE COMMANDS IN GENESIS.

So I pose to you this question? When does it become marriage?

A: When both parties make a committment in front of God understanding GOD IS A WITNESS TO EVERYTHING GOOD AND RIGHTEOUS. That they will be together forever (that's another reason I don't want a minister I refuse to believe in this death do us part crapola I want this woman forever).
B: Children
C: At the moment of two virgins losing their virginity together. That's why this polygamy stuff ain't cool. You sleep with twenty women and have kids from three different ones and think you are a man because you got more action than me. Let me tell you something on vacation my wife performs just as well as those three different women all by herself and there is a much stronger emotional attachment and a deep spiritual one because we called on God to recognize our love.

And when two or more are in agreement it shall come to pass.

So is premarital sex forgiven? Yes it isn't rape... God even understands you make mistakes, but I tell you my prophecy for the human race is we settle into monogamy and let other races deal with bigamy and polygamy issues. We have had so much of a problem with adultery it is time we take a stand that God wants this race to be Apostolic charismatic female leaders in the church (PREPARE THE BRIDE OF CHRIST) with strong male prophets preaching.

God wants gentlemen determined to be with one woman and one woman only their whole lives, and women that support the men in these decisions.

My opinion on homosexual marriage?
Only if you are from Mars. LOL

Please read my late prophecy that may have allready came true on the testimony: I used to be a lesbian.

It is an important teaching I think has been lost by all but the Ethiopian Jews. You see that Ethiopian Jew that ended up letting Ethiopia guard the Ark and the Tabernacle.

They are guarding all the real texts of the Apostles of Christ (well his twelve prophets actually) including his Three Fold Prophet of the End Times the Beloved John.

That is where the real Word of Gospel is with the Ethiopian Jews. You see that Bible you have in your house or Bibles. The Catholics did some editing during the Dark Age DO NOT BE FOOLS. Hopefully this family knows the minute date time hour and second to release some well translated copies from this Ethiopian Jewish family (from the NT that Paul met with a miracle happened too I'll look at this later this morning).

And it includes the correct translation of the OT.

You know one passage in my Bible reads the Law of Moses commands a disobedient teenager be slain.

Maybe in the Spirit of spanking. And in the Spirit as well. God never commanded the death penalty.

I noticed earlier someone said fornication in Latin that literally translates to "sex without protection" I personally think children are THE greatest blessing of sex and that sex without protection therefore fornication is not a sin. You mean forcication the act of "sex with violent force" would be a sin because that's rape. You people quote out an English Bible using Latin and Greek words you do not even understand then want to call it sin.

Woe be it to any who condemns someone and leads them astray that they have sinned against the Commandments. Because if you lead them into ignorance and you are just pretending to understand the words from what some broken record preacher says is and isn't RAPE. Rape is the sin. Sex could lead to temptation and breaking of vows. People should respect their parents on this issue "through honor your father and mother' children will disobey. Deal with it. Start dealing with this with love and forgiveness for a mistake well learned rather than a folly that will send you to hell not them for condemning them and totally ignoring the forgiving passion of Christ.

Sex before marraige. And I can proof that cause Me and my beautiful baby are 4 and a half years together and NO sex. That was clear from the beginning. The most valuable thing here is to have patience. If you love Jesus, like you say, then be obedience and He will help you through all kinds of things you never imagine.

Hope, Faith, Love............... GOD BLESS

I think this whole question is silly! How can we so vehemently condemn sex before marriage, when the OVERWHELMING majority of solid Christians wind up having sex before they're married? People are becoming sexually mature between 9 and 13 nowadays, due to better nutrition and a healthier developmental environment. (Historically, sexually maturity was usually reached between 12 and 15.) Despite this change, we keep expecting people to get married in their early twenties! That's 10-years of abstinence, on average! Ridiculous!

We need to start having kids get married earlier, shield them more from our over-sexualized society, and/or keep them segregated (either physically or by mores) from members of the opposite sex. That's the only way this situation's going to get better! As it is now, it's like we're giving a bunch of loaded handguns to kids and expecting no one to get hurt.

Gah!

Take the Hutterites, a group of Amish-like people that used to live around my family back in South Dakota. Moderate diet, hard work, and a more traditional environment keep their sexual maturation in the 12-15 year old time frame. Shortly after, between 16 and 18, they're married! In that interim time, they're kept mostly segregated or under tight surveillance when with the opposite sex. Also, no TV shows or magazines going on about teenage romances. Lo and behold, they've got no sex before marriage problems!

I don't think the amount of time someone has to abstain from sex is really that relevant, I think it's more about personality development than how long the physical urges need to be restrained, obviously our over-sexualized society pushes people in the wrong direction but I think there are examples, myself being one, that if we are brought up with the right attitudes and support then that can all be resisted, and for a long time if neccesary.

I think segregation is a bad idea because often it strengthens a young persons instinct to explore and break the rules, if somthing is off limits it just makes a person even more curious to find out why.
I also think seperating the sex's at a young age can do harm to normal social development, it is not natural to be kept among our own gender and I think it's dangerous to do so at the age when we are suppose to be learning about the other, maybe that would limit youngsters having sex but it might at the same time leave them so unaccustomed to the opposite gender that they become cut off and that can have dangerous consequences, such as depression.

It is a difficult problem, but I firmly believe a child raised with discipline and a clear education on these matters stands the best chance of having healthy relationships with the oppsoite sex while not going too far in those relationships until they are older and more prepared, beyond that we just have to cross our fingers and hope for the best.

I think one problem is that Christians won't talk about sex. It's a taboo subject and if a kid is curious about it parents are prone to shut the kid down and tell the child s/he doesn't need to be asking such questions.

Kids are curious creatures, and if they cannot get answers from their parents, or are afraid to even broach the topic with their parents, they will look elsewhere for answers.

If you want to give a child a Biblical view about sex, do a study of Songs of Solomon with the child, and tell the child why sex is a beautiful thing to be rejoiced and partaken of once one is married, and why one should not have sex outside of marriage.

Bzzzzzzz, incorrect. I'm a fan of statistics, and you'll find that schools and states that push abstinence only education see increases in the rate of teen pregnancies and STD transmission (see the link below). Even schools and states that rank as highly religious show similar trends. Anecdotally, go the best or most awesome church you can find, and after a couple questions to the congregation you'll find a load of families who's teenage children are sexually active or are pregnant.

The problem is that discipline breaks down once in a while. The longer you expect a child to remain abstinent, the more often their resolve will break down and the higher the odds that they will give it up completely. Education is often ineffective because what the children see is different than what they're being taught. They see their friends having sex with few consequences, and have that lifestyle reinforced by the media.

Case in point: http://www.statesman.com/services/c...09/09/27/0927abstinence.html?cxtype=ynews_rss

It's not about being correct or incorrect and of course sometimes education of any type won't make a difference and young people will do it anyway, I didn't say that would fix it, just that I think it is the best we can do, a certain amount of people will always have sex at a young age, christian or not it's human nature.

Just for the record my statement about providing a clear education the subject was more along the lines of what lil-rush said, just that parents need to be open to talking about it to thier children so there is not so much mystery around it that encourages kids to seek out the experience.

You may be a fan of statisics but they don't matter to me, unless you poll every person to whom the findings can be applied then they do not accurately represent reality.
