Even though I am not musically inclined I feel that I am certainly qualified to join this particular club. Perhaps the single life should be preferred over the married life. I have known one horrific marriage and one beautiful marriage so it may be well that I should remain single and celibate at this stage of my life as my efforts in this search seem to be pointless and frustrating. Instead of searching for a wife I will now visit my local animal shelter and take home the first dog that comes to the front of the cage. A dog will love you unconditionally, will be sad when you are sad, wag his tail when you are happy and will not talk back to you unless it is a cheerful bark or yip telling you it’s time to go potty. I can thank my rock musician husband for my music tastes. I would sing background vocals for him when he played guitar. He also taught my son to play guitar and of course, my kids liked alternative rock so I was always surrounded by it. DCTalk & P.O.D. are two of my favorite Christian rocks bands. Before we got married my wife and I would flirt on this thread posting various song lyrics about what was in our heart at the time. It was really fun. I started this thread before we even knew each other.

It's been quite a ride so far. Many such journey's are possible.

I must admit though, sometimes listening brings mixed emotions.

If I'm already kind of down about being single and lonely, sometimes the old stuff can intensify that feeling, and even the encouragement of 'Getting by with a little help' can make me long for by-gone times and leave me feeling blue.

But the Lord doesn't want any of us to hang there, and He's given us new life in Christ. I still struggle with loneliness, been single all my life.

I've tried to give and receive comfort and friendship on this site, but there's so much judgementalism, gossip, back-biting, false-teaching, and just plain misunderstanding and lack of christian grace, forgiveness and reconciliation, that it can be colder inside than out.

But I still extend my hand of friendship to ppl here, but they gotta have a sense of humor, I've had enough with the negativity and self-righteousness.

Jesus died to set us free, not put us again under a yoke of bondage.

So anyway, here's a little ditty for your listening pleasure, but if the mood has you feeling a bit down, may Jesus remind you of His everlasting love. You/we are not alone.

The 'You-MUST-be water-baptized' or 'You-MUST-be-obedient' to this or that crowd? Implying and in some cases actually telling ppl that they're not saved unless they meet some 'condition'?
It's like God's love isn't as loving as our Pet's love?
But it's been those who have taken a stand for God's grace and love in Jesus that have taken the heat. It's pretty unsettling. But I guess that's their goal. Aahhh...phooey. btw, hi JL and tourist.

Welcome. Hope you are finding good fellowship on CC. JL and tourist are the best. If you see me talking about conditional stuff, it is not in reference to His love for me. He loved us long before we fell in love with Him. My heart overflows with gratitude towards Him and all He did for me. I am sure He gave us the little creatures to teach us about love.

I have lonely days to, but as I seek to draw nearer to Him, and the closer the final hour draws, the more peace and joy I find.

I am your brother and want to be your friend. We have not missed out on life. The best awaits us up ahead. This is true for the married and singles alike. I feel warmth inside when I encourage others. Singles can sometimes reach into places where marrieds cannot. If this is where God wants me to be, then this is where I want to be also.

Blond has been on both sides of married and single, but I only have about 8 years of married total out of the 61 years....I reached singles for a very long time....glad God is letting me be a married at last...

I had a bird like that. He was always alone, poor thing. It was a love bird. They're supposed to be together. My ex rescued him from a friend of his who threw his slipper to his head if he didn't shut up. He was my best friend. When he died I cried for a week, even in the restaurant and everyone was looking at me. He was called Birdy. I put on Benny Hinn worship songs to build his faith when he was sick, but it didn't work. He was going bad for like 2 days but still didn't die. Made an appointment for the vet and just when we had to go there, he was sitting in my hand, he spread out his wings and flew into heaven. But now he just got eaten by Blue's cat. That's life.

It didn't get eaten by MY cat. My cat has been dead for almost two months now..
