Hebrews 10 For since the law has but a shadow of the good things to come instead of the true form of these realities, it can never, by the same sacrifices which are continually offered year after year, make perfect those who draw near. 2 Otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered? If the worshipers had once been cleansed, they would no longer have any consciousness of sin. 3 But in these sacrifices there is a reminder of sin year after year. 4 For it is impossible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away sins.

Colossians 2;16 Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a sabbath. 17 These are only a shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ. 18 Let no one disqualify you, insisting on self-abasement and worship of angels, taking his stand on visions, puffed up without reason by his sensuous mind,

Do you understand the shadows of things to come??

“Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a sabbath. These are only a shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ. “

the law has but a shadow of the good things to come instead of the true form of these realities, it can never, by the same sacrifices which are continually offered year after year, make perfect those who draw near…..But in these sacrifices there is a reminder of sin year after year. For it is impossible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away sins. “

“Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood. For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people, saying, This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you.

Moreover he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry. And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭9:18-22‬ ‭

Reality

“It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these;

but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us: nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others;”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭9:23-25‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“for then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭9:26‬ ‭

By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:

but this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; from henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭10:10-13‬ ‭

Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; a minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.

For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law: who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.

But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭8:1-2, 4-6‬ ‭

the whole book describes the many shadows and figures of the Old Testament law and the realities now in Christ like the sacrifices , the priests , the tabernacle , the mediator , the testimony and covenant blood . Ect

Personally, I prefer to live in the truth, reality and the light. So I do not bind myself to the Law. I am bound to Jesus as His bond servant, by choice, not by law. The Law killed me, Jesus gives me life. That's good enough for me.

The Scripture is clear: the law is only a shadow, but the reality, or fullness, is found in Christ. Just as the earthly tabernacle was a copy of the heavenly tabernacle (Hebrews 9:11) so the rituals and requirements of the Law were copies (shadows) of our true relationship with God (and with the world) in Christ.

For example...
the Law gives instructions for physical cleansing; in Christ we are spiritually cleansed;
the Law gives outward requirements for holiness; in Christ we are made holy;
the Law gives commands for sacrificial atonement (always partial); in Christ our atonement is complete;
the Law requires observation of certain days and seasons; in Christ, we worship Him every day;
the Law demands surrender of a tenth of the crops and every tenth animal; in Christ, all that we have is His, and we give as He leads;
the Law restricts consumption of certain creatures; in Christ we are thankful for all foods;
the Law directs the circumcision of the flesh; in Christ we undergo circumcision of the heart;
under the Law we go to the human priest to offer our sacrifice; in Christ we go to the High Priest Who has offered the ultimate sacrifice.

a shadow is merely a reflection of something ... not the thing itself.

Hebrews 10:1 For the law having a shadow [Greek skia] of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.

Ray Stedman - Hebrews Commentary

In Heb 10:1-4, the author builds on a point he has made earlier---that the annual repetition of sacrifices in the old order indicated their inability to actually remove sins. Once again he uses a logical-deduction argument. Had they truly cleansed the conscience, there would have been no need to repeat them for the offerers; they would have seen themselves as cleansed from sin's defilement forever. But these sacrifices could not remove sin because they were based only on the death of animals. The annual repetition did remind offerers that they were still very much sinners and still very much in need of an adequate substitute if their sin was ever to be removed. The sacrifices were but a shadow of the good things that are coming---not the realities themselves. A shadow indicates a reality, but has no substance in itself. I waited on a downtown street comer one day for a friend who always wore a Western hat. Suddenly I saw his distinctive shadow on the sidewalk and knew that he was standing just around the comer. I could not actually see him, but I knew he was there. So the offerings witnessed to the person of Christ and his sacrifice, though they were not that reality themselves. They were but his shadow that indicated he was soon to appear.

The law was never intended to make man perfect (Greek = teleioō - complete) ... in fact, the law pointed out the imperfection, the continual falling short. The law pointed to the need of mankind.

The purpose of the Old Covenant was to point to Messiah (Gal 3:24).

Example of how I see the Sabbath

At one time it was important to rest on the Sabbath day for Israel to please the Lord.

But as a shadow of things to come

The Sabbath is the 7th day---the Millenium--- the thousand year reign of Christ

The Lord Jesus Christ is our sabbath ... we rest in Him.

Hebrews 4:

1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.

2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

4 For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.

5 And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.

6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:

7 Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.

8 For if Jesus [Joshua] had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.

9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

Germany's foreign minister threatened unspecified measures against Israel on Tuesday and said Berlin would not export weapons used to break humanitarian law, as he and Chancellor Friedrich Merz delivered their most severe rebuke yet over Gaza.

But what happens if your scared of shadows?

Colossians 2;16 Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a sabbath. 17 These are only a shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ. 18 Let no one disqualify you, insisting on self-abasement and worship of angels, taking his stand on visions, puffed up without reason by his sensuous mind,

I will take a stab here. So, food and drink in regards to Passover. Did not Jesus say, in Mathew 26...

26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.

27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;

28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

29 But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.

As far as the Sabbath, there is this theory, that civilization will last 6,000 years, then 1,000 year Sabbath, that sort of mimics the 6 day creation. Also, the Spring Holidays were fulfilled during Christ first coming, and the Fall Holidays will be fulfilled during Christ second coming.

they are now here in Father's Spirit and Truth for us all to choose to believe God in risen Son or not and be made new in love and mercy to all too, thank you, to me at least
