That would mean one has no problem with others being deceived by false doctrine not even offering to help them
Ephesians 5:11
And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
2 Timothy 4:2
Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
Reprove generally means to correct, rebuke, or express disapproval non biblical doctrine and actions with the intent to guide them towards improvement pointing them to what God's Word teaches.
Which the reformers and the catholics either ignore or twist.
So when you hear of someone believing something that is not biblical, you are good with just letting them go on believing incorrectly? Would love do that and not even try to help them?
“That would mean one has no problem with others being deceived by false doctrine not even offering to help them”
What I’m saying is …..everyone thinks anyone who disagrees with them is a false teacher kind of …… seems like all teachers think they have it all worked out but so does the other teacher they are arguing with …. They think he’s a false teacher and he thinks they are
My point is you end up with circular arguments accusations of heresy that go back and forth ( not always ) but often it just goes back and forth and both people end up right where they began both knowing some truth and both being fully capable of being wrong about some things ……
we tend to think our own version is right and the other guy is a heretic . It never goes anywhere but causes a house divided .
My position is everyone should go learn from Jesus thier lord and savior by the gospel as he intended and then anyone who believes in him and does that can learn from the lord and know the truth.
So I have my own position and belief also that i believe is the correct path . I try to talk about what I believe is the right doctrine but
it’s not my job or place to correct other Christian’s
i would just advise anyone who asked to go listen to the teachings and sayings and parables of Jesus in the gospel and tell them to consider what he’s saying in those sermons and parables and sayings because this always leads to truth as he reveals it to people personally .
What I meant by “ not every Christian’s job to correct every other Christian” was this
“And
he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; 1
and
some, evangelists; 2
and
some,
pastors and teachers; 3
for the
perfecting of the saints, 1
for
the work of the ministry, 2
for the edifying of the body of Christ:”3
Ephesians 4:11-12 KJV
There’s order whereby God gives gifts not all Christian’s are teachers and really every Christian’s should consider this part when becoming a teacher
“
Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.”
James 3:1 NIV
i mean that’s pretty straightforward I don’t think
everyone is a tescher or leadership role within the body is my point . If everyone thinks they are an uncorrectable teacher then how come they all are arguing opposite things ? That’s all you have is an argument when everyone tries correcting everyone else
ago avoid false teachers we need to simply stick to Christ and his doctrine there’s a lifetimes worth of wisdom to learn from Jesus in the gospel . Anytime someone is teaching you contrary doctrine from what you yourself have learned you it’s false you’ve heard the truth already . A
Anything new you haven’t heard already shouldnt just be rejected if you don’t know the opposite already but should be checked against what Jesus and his apostles taught. If it’s in line or if it isn’t shouod be clear through prayer and carefully hearing the word regarding what the subject is
scripture corrects and trains
“
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
2 Timothy 3:16-17 NIV
“For
the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow;
it discerns the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight.
Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.”
Hebrews 4:12-13
Many want to teach but how many first learn and are willing to take on the greater responsabilities ? The stricter judgements ?
I don’t think the group is meant to correct one another but the group is meant to listen to the word …..in peace not strife
like the nt consistantly warns the church about
How Paul warned Timothy not to be drawn on to foolish and endless arguments about doctrines and timelines and geneologies ect and just told him to “ preach the word “
theres a difference in sharing the gospel like we all should happily do and then being the person rbe led educated by and called by god to correct a group of fellow believers . This person also adds to thier own responsability to practice what they ere preaching and be judged more harshly
One who knows and declares they know to everyone else has no excuse and is harshly beaten with many stripes . But the one who doesn’t know and declare it even when they do something wrong and worthy of harsh stripes they will receive only a few …,,,, to one who is given much much more is required “
