Them tax returns be rolling in, y'all! How are you spending yours?

Quote I saw online:
"It's tax return season, and I know y'all been missing the beach, but you're also missing a tooth and all the tread on your tires, so maybe this year make better decisions."

It has become VERY busy at my job. When we all get money, there is a certain section of the population who feel compelled to go out and spend it on double quarter pounders. :rolleyes:

So what are you getting? Are you saving it? Buying one big-ticket item you have been wanting badly for some time? Just buying lots of stuff rapidly?

I will of course be a good forum member and answer my own question:

I got two new front tires, two new front brakes and two new front rotors (what the brakes clamp onto) for my minivan.

I paid the propane (house heating) bill. That took almost half my money. But it's better than freezing.

Aside from that... Weeeeell... Mostly amazon. o_O

Over here those money ain’t pouring down until June. That is, if you get any. Most likely the local “IRS” will find a way to lay all your money down.

I have reason to believe that my return will be a good $2,000 this year…unfortunately the prices are skyrocketing here so 2k will be like nothing.

At the rate we are going it will a decision between be a tank or a Jamaican vacation....

I expect to have a lot left over this year, between tax filings and what I have left over from the purchase of a mobile home. So...

Lord willing (we know what the Bible says about human plans), I will be purchasing two computers, and maybe one or two hobby-ish items (thinking stargazing binocs, an original iMac from eBay, or an old D8 camcorder to dump old video files onto my computer). The rest will go into retirement savings and/or shorter-term emergency savings.

Normally, I'd put 2G away for a visit to my old stomping grounds, NYC. But, it's become so progressive, so enlightened, so much more morally and intellectually evolved than I am, I dare not stand in its light.

Yeah it bugs me that if I get a hole in a... um... strategically disadvantageous location... white is a TERRIBLE color. It stands out like a spotlight.

I also threw out all my socks that I might or might not find a match for and bought 24 pairs of black crew socks. They go with anything and I can grab any two random socks and go.

Zero-drop shoes, where the heel is not thicker than the toe.

Basically it means I can wear shoes and still walk as though I was barefoot, which is important to me. I prize my agility and balance highly.

With those laces though... No good for wearing to church. Hence the order for black shoe laces. I should have thought of that when I ordered the shoes.

Oh wait... Wrong shoes. You meant the slip-resistant overshoes. My bad.

Those are rubber overshoes that turn your shoes into shoes that won't slip on a greasy McDonald's floor. Because the slip-resistant shoes in the catalog are all factory-garanteed to hurt your ankles. And they still slide a bit.

With my tax refund, I will be getting new summer tires (~$1000). Given other hoped-for events, I may also be investing in a special kind of getaway and some new furniture.

I hear you on the heating bill, last month's bill was insane. The thermostat had to be dropped to 65 this month and other cost savings methods are being adopted this month. Gasoline prices are pretty brutal as well!

Not filing my taxes until March, but not sure what I'm spending my money on. I recently bought a fire place cover, just in case of an emergency.
