Dear guys, its okay to have a personal opinion and say i don't like make up so i wont be married to someone who uses it. Fair.that is personal choice. What is the logic/rationale behind a ban? It has to be justified.The Bible does not comment on it and i think neither should we.

Ok, wow! Seriously -- there is a difference between what this MODEL is wearing and what the normal, every day woman wears. And to say there are no nice women with mascarra -- judgmental much? Honestly, what gives you the right to decide who is nice and who isnt and what it is that dictates that? I'm not trying to be mean, I just think you need to rethink how you judge women. There are so many WONDERFUL GODLY AMAZING women out there who wear mascarra etc...and you are totally missing out on who they are because you can't get past your judgemental attitude. I'm sorry, but God is the one who looks at the HEART of a person. Not their face. He loves a gothic kid just as much as he loves the little old lady that plays the piano at church. Love isn't based on looks -- and God calls us to love one another -- so by standing on a soap box and pointing down to all of us woman that wear makeup and saying that you can't look past it -- who exactly has the problem? The beautiful women (who don't need makeup but choose to wear it) or you, who can't get past that?
So, if you don't like makeup, don't get involved with a woman who wears it -- but definatly don't go around telling those of us who do how gross or disgusting you think we look.
Like I said before, it's a personal choice. But saying there are NO nice women with makeup, you have really got it wrong.

lol I'm not offended at all. Just wasn't exactly sure if he meant I looked like her beacause my make up was similar or if he thought I just resembled her.
 
Three things:

1) Never judge a book by its cover.

2) If it needs painting, paint it, and paint it good!

3) If you use it, then: always in moderation.
 
That model pictured is a long way past what is normal among women in the real world, like most advertising it doesn't represent reality much, I think a lot of men and women would find that too much.

I don't think it can really be said that all people, male or female, look better without any make-up on, a simple skin blemish can be covered and make anyone look better and I don't see a problem with that, simple fact is not everyone was blessed with natural beauty, not on the outside anyway, it doesn't in any way diminish a person but it is a fact of life, we come in different shapes and sizes and maybe some of those appeal more to a majority of people.

If someone feels they can look better and feel better with some make-up than that's great for them and I don't think it's bad at all, if you can't see past it then I think you may miss out having relationships with some great people and that's a shame.

In general though I do view make-up and cosmetics in general as something I use only as necessary, and too many people nowadays get carried away using many products that seem largely unnecessary, vanity is a problem for sure, but banning make-up is no way to solve the problem, banning rarely works, it just makes the people who disagree with you push back even harder causing conflict, you may not like it but you have to live with it, that's freedom.

I completely agree with you here. I had severe acne as a teen, and ever since, I had on occasions, days where my skin is blotchy and where just a hint of powder makes so much difference. Because lets face it, if your a professional, you have to look presentable and sadly as a worker and health student in my 20s people will judge me as incompetent if I at least dont look the part.
I think, the women wearing makeup that youve seen must have been wearing too much. Ive seen too many young girls with perfect fine skin and beautiful features just slather on concealer and too much eye makeup thats so thick it makes you want take a paint scraper to their face and get it all off. I think this is not on.
Realistically, you cant stop young girls from experimenting with makeup (I would know as I started ruining my mothers lipsticks at age 4), but older women in my opinion should take the time to explain to them how to follow the "less is more" kind of rule. Its also a self esteem and maturity thing really. At the end of the day it shows how much pride we have in the image we see in the mirror and even more especially the one who made us in the first place :)

One thing I have an issue with is men, who have no idea how much is too much cologne. Some people I think have no idea how much their dousing themselves. Quite often if a guy uses too much cologne it causes the same physical reaction to my system as breathing in a car exhaust would, with me ending up having a coughing fit. Not nice..
 
To the people who wear makeup every day or regularly, why don't you just go get some cosmetic surgery? Its the same thing. You don't like the face you were given - why not just change it permanently, without needing powders and lotions and chemicals...

I used to work in a job where I was required to wear makeup (pharmacy). Of course there was a standard on what was acceptable and how much was too much, but we were expected to wear SOME makeup.

Next time you're on a plane.. have a look at the flight attendants.. THEY ALL wear makeup. It's like a requirement, almost like part of their uniform.

What do think then... are we all supposed to boycott such jobs? Do we need to look for another job, where we aren't expected to have at least some foundation, mascara and lipgloss?

Just curious...

Good question.

In that situation my issue would be with the pretense of the pharmacy or airline, whichever the case may be, in thinking that they should make their staff look a certain way in order to cater to the expectations of the world which is under the spell of cosmetic companies being made to believe that smelly paint makes people look better. They should focus on selling the best drugs or having the best flights instead of subjecting their staff to horrible things. But no in that situation I wouldn't hold it against the individual. I'd like to wear my pygamas to work but I can't.

We should totally rally for this to be brought in!

Ohhh and to get paid for eating breakfast at work too ;)

This is where you lose me because it seems like you base your feeling on an assumption of what someone's reason is, and you think everyone's is the same which is likely not true.

Using make-up on a daily basis does not mean a person is unhappy with their face and is trying to hide, I have always understood make-up used in moderation is more like an accent, a way to enhance natural features not to cover them up.

Equating the regular use of make-up to cosmetic surgery is not a valid comparison, make-up as used by most people I see is a minor addition to enhance, surgery is more often used to make substantial changes that can alter a persons appearance in a much different and more significant way.

Just because someone uses cosmetics does not mean that they are unhappy with themseleves in some way.

I so totally agree with this! I wear Pj's to school sometimes. Other people do it, so it's really not that big a deal.

Of course makeup is not bad or a sin but it is somewhat addressed in the bible:

1 Timothy 2:9-10
9I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, 10but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.
