FWers knee jerk reactions to Scriptures they don't like is often to call those who believe them, "Calvinists."

While the FWers reject, contradict, and outright deny what is plainly written.

Sometiems even rewriting the very words of Jesus Christ Himself.

All in obeisance to their self-exalting idol.
i can forgive knee jerk reactions lol

The attacks on CALVINSIM I read here on this thread, bring to mind the saying: "Ignorance is not knowing, stupidity is not knowing and not wanting to know."

For those who wish to know a bit more about the USA and Calvinism, do some study and you learn such things as the following.

Calvinist Christians were highly prominent and influential in the founding of America. Many historians argue that Calvinism played a critical role in shaping the political and religious foundations of the nation. Some scholars even credit John Calvin as a "virtual founder" of America because his theological and political ideas strongly influenced the colonists, especially in New England and in Presbyterian circles. Calvinist concepts emphasizing republican government, resistance to tyranny, and civic virtue were foundational to the American revolutionary and constitutional movements.

Calvinist Christians were among the earliest settlers, such as the Puritans and Presbyterians, who brought their religious and political ideals to the colonies. Their emphasis on covenant theology and moral governance helped inspire instruments like the Mayflower Compact, which established a civil body politic for mutual good. Leading figures such as John Witherspoon, a Presbyterian minister and president of Princeton, contributed significantly to the intellectual underpinnings of American independence and republican government. Princeton itself was founded with Calvinist educational principles.

The principles enshrined in documents like the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution mirror Calvinist teachings on government by consent, moral responsibility, and the role of law. Calvinists were often at the forefront of calling for separation from Britain and asserting natural rights. Historians widely recognize the enduring impact of Calvinism on American democracy, religious freedom, and civic life.

Calvinist Christians were not only prominent but instrumental in the founding of America, providing key religious, intellectual, and political frameworks that shaped the nation's early identity and institutions.

John Calvin’s influence on the foundation of United States of America was not only significant it was vital. Had John Calvin not laid out his theological doctrines and his ecclesiastical organization, much of the immigration to America most likely would not have happened and even if it had, the immigrants would not have had Calvin’s Biblical principles as a foundation for their resistance to the King of England. Additionally, the government that eventually came out of America’s independence would not have become what it did if it had not been for Calvin’s influence among the population at that time. For all these reasons, one must recognize that Calvin was just as influential upon the establishment and organization of America as a nation as were any of the Founding Fathers during the founding era.

Calvinist Christians played a central and foundational role in the settlement and political development of early America. Multiple historical sources emphasize that Calvinism was not merely a religious backdrop but a driving ideological force behind the American Revolution and the formation of the republic. Historian George Bancroft, often regarded as the greatest American historian of the 19th century, stated unequivocally: “He who will not honor the memory and respect the influence of Calvin knows but little of the origin of American liberty.” Some scholars even describe John Calvin as the “virtual founder of America” or its “father,” underscoring the depth of his indirect influence through theology and governance.

And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and glorified the word of God; and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed. (Acts 13:48, RSV)

even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. (Eph 1:4, RSV)

and all who dwell on earth will worship it, every one whose name has not been written before the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb that was slain. (Rev 13:8, RSV)

Lutheran Formula of Concord, XI Election

“The eternal election of God, however, not only foresees and foreknows the salvation of the elect, but is also, from the gracious will and pleasure of God in Christ Jesus, a cause which procures, works, helps, and promotes our salvation and what pertains thereto; and upon this [divine predestination] our salvation is so founded that the gates of hell cannot prevail against it, Matt. 16:18, as is written John 10:28: Neither shall any man pluck My sheep out of My hand. And again, Acts 13:48: And as many as were ordained to eternal life, believed.”

Article 17. Of Predestination and Election. Anglican, Church of England, Episcopal
Predestination to Life is the everlasting purpose of God, whereby (before the foundations of the world were laid) he hath constantly decreed by his counsel secret to us, to deliver from curse and damnation those whom he hath chosen in Christ out of mankind, and to bring them by Christ to everlasting salvation, as vessels made to honour. Wherefore, they which be endued with so excellent a benefit of God, be called according to God's purpose by his Spirit working in due season: they through Grace obey the calling: they be justified freely: they be made sons of God by adoption: they be made like the image of his only-begotten Son Jesus Christ: they walk religiously in good works, and at length, by God's mercy, they attain to everlasting felicity.

1644 First London Confession of Faith of Baptists:
III. That God has (Isa. 46:10) decreed in Himself from everlasting touching all things, effectually to work and dispose them (Eph. 1:11) according to the counsel of His own will, to the glory of His name; in which decree appears His wisdom, constancy, truth, and faithfulness (Col. 2:3); Wisdom is that whereby He contrives all things (Num. 23:19-20); Constancy is that whereby the decree of God remains always immutable (Jer. 10:10; Rom. 3:4); Truth is that whereby He declares that alone which He has decreed, and though His sayings may seem to sound sometimes another thing, yet the sense of them does always agree with the decree (Isa. 44:10); Faithfulness is that whereby He effects that He has decreed, as He has decreed. And touching His creature man (Eph. 1:3-7; 2 Tim. 1:9; Acts 13:48; Rom. 8:29-30), God had in Christ before the foundation of the world, according to the good pleasure of His will, foreordained some men to eternal life through Jesus Christ, to the praise and glory of His grace (Jude 4,6; Rom. 9:11- 13; Prov. 16:4), leaving the rest in their sin to their just condemnation, to the praise of His justice.

1646 Westminster Confession of faith, Presbyterians
3.2. Although God knows whatever may or can come to pass, upon all supposed conditions; yet he has not decreed any thing because he foresaw it as future, as that which would come to pass, upon such conditions.
3.3. By the decree of God, for the manifestation of his glory, some men and angels are predestinated unto everlasting life, and others foreordained to everlasting death.
3.4. These angels and men, thus predestinated and foreordained, are particularly and unchangeably designed; and their number is so certain and definite that it cannot be either increased or diminished.

Some believers seem to think that a real Christian should never sin. This idea is taken from 1 John 5:18 and 1 John 3:9. This concept also does not take into account other verses that indicate that Christians can and do sin.

It helps to remember that the New Testament epistles written to believers. The apostles exhorted believers to avoid sin and life righteously. Now if Christians do not sin, then such exhortations are entirely unnecessary.

There are many reasons why Christians struggle to overcome sin. The fact that they even care about their sin is evidence of the new birth. Instead of heaping unreasonable demands on them, we should be showing them how sin can be overcome.

Well we all fall we all miss it we all at times have willingly sinned. Its written "For sin will no longer be a master over you, since you are not under Law [as slaves], but under [unmerited] grace [as recipients of God’s favor and mercy]. So sin has no hold on us but for the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. But if I am doing the very thing I do not want to do, I am no longer the one doing it [that is, it is not me that acts], but the sin [nature] which lives in me." This is what man of us do not understand.

We have been made new our flesh is exactly the same as it was before He found us (born again/born from above). We have to trust in cling to Christ knowing without Him we fall every time.

But not people calling good brothers every minute of the day Evil Thats what he's doing.
And yet the "good brothers" go around proudly proclaiming they are still sinners! rolleyes2.gif

Scripture does not teach calvinism

Calvinism is the result of scripture twisting and ignoring the whole counsel of the Lord

Calvinist Christians were highly prominent and influential in the founding of America
That explains why so many masons were involved along with all their cultist beliefs.

The masons believe lucifer is the true northstar (true Creator) so it stands to reason that many calvinists would join the masonic lodge and walk in darkness with the other masons.

So sin has no hold on us but for the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Romans 7 man is not a born again Christian by his own admission when he says he is sold under sin (still in bondage)

The answer to Romans 7 is Romans 8 so keep reading

Romans 8:1 - There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Romans 8:5-8 - For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

Romans 8:13,14 - For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

We have been made new our flesh is exactly the same as it was before

And we are to control our flesh with the self control that comes when we submit ourselves to the Lord.

1 Thessalonians 4:4 - every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;

The Apostle Paul acknowledges that if he did not keep his flesh under control then he would become a castaway (same word used for reprobate)

1 Corinthians 9:27 - But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

Uh huh. And you need to call people Calvinists because you reject what Scripture says.

As if labelling those who believe what Scripture says lends credence to your false accusations.

People who go around screeching about Calvin often lie about the man himself.

It just comes across looking like some desperate, doomed ploy.

And yet the "good brothers" go around proudly proclaiming they are still sinners! View attachment 282562

maybe you should be there God 🙂

maybe you should be there God

Maybe you should read all of God's Word and start living by it!

See, that's the problem here is some folks don't want to accept all the Lord says in His Word.

They want to treat God's Word like a buffet line at a restaurant where they can pick and choose what they will receive and reject all the things they don't like or that "our church does not believe in"

Folks get so upset when someone suggests they should not living in sin not knowing God's Word teaches we should not be living in sin.

But sinners will be sinners so they make excuses so they can keep living in sin

After all, they go around telling everyone they are still sinners and so they keep living in sin.

See, that's the thought process of the devil creeping in to your mind.

You should be walking in God's Word!

Accept what God says in His Word so you can know Him and walk with Him.

Those not knowing what He says in His Word, not living by what He says in His Word do not know Him.
