Hey Everyone,
I was thinking the other day about how blessed I am to have never "officially" broken a bone. I had a fracture in my foot once, but didn't need a boot or cast (just a good, solid shoe that I left untied.) I don't know how it happened -- I was in some kind of "step aerobics" phase (remember when that was the craze?!) and couldn't do any workouts because of how much my foot was hurting -- and it took forever to heal.
I tried playing sports when I was a kid, but I am NOT coordinated, so if I DID try playing a team sport, my assigned position was always the bench. (Hey, at least my risk of injury was pretty low!)
I have a relative who, many years ago, broke a bone at a military camp, and by the time he received the medical care he really needed, they had to rebreak and reset the bone. YE -- OUCH!!! It put his dominant arm out of commission for about a year, so he had to learn to write and do everything else with his non-dominant hand.
A friend was also recently telling me about the ordeal they went through in trying to find a good orthopedic surgeon when their kids (plural!) had serious sports injuries. I can't imagine having one child with a broken bone, torn ligament, etc. -- let alone several!
It just had me thinking about how grateful I am that I haven't had such ailments (seeing as I'm a bit of a couch potato, I guess I would be considered very low-risk, except for falling off the couch!)
But never mind me -- I would like to know about you!
* Have you ever broken a bone, torn something, had a sport injury, etc.?
* What about your kids and family members?
* How would you rate the care you received? Were you able to find the right medical providers for your condition?
* Did you have someone to help care for you, or have you nursed someone else through an injury?
* How long did it take to heal, or is it chronic, and how are you/someone you know managing today?
I'm just interested in hearing other's stories about how God has provided for them in these situations.
