Hi all,
I feel like, while this is a space for introducing self, my reasoning behind being here in the first place is the most relevant part in introducing myself. For the first time in my life, God has so fully blessed me with a Christian community, from how my faith is fed and supported by my parents, my pastors, my all-Christian flat, some new God-hungry friends, and the small (but fast growing) "home church" that I attend as one of the "mature" Christians and native speakers of where we are situated. I get to be a sort of big sister in my flat and support the running of a young adult's bible study, and supporting these dear brothers and sisters in Christ fills my cup up so much, and one new friendship specifically has really encouraged me as we have similar backgrounds in which God has delivered us from, so the sense of isolation in regard to that has been lifted. But even with all that blessing, I still feel unknown, frustrated and often isolated. I'm always available for chats and often put my studies or work aside to support my flatmates when they come to me, but I don't have someone who does that for me. The running joke is that I remember everything, so I'm not just helpful and useful, but I make people feel cared for by remembering what they've said and that being reflected in my interactions with them, but I don't have someone that does that for me. My Dad has Parkinson's and forgets a lots, which hurts, and my mum still has to work despite her health and being my dad's carer, so there's only so much I can lean on her. I have chronic health issues, and I am on the autism spectrum, and for me that has always looked like investing 100% until I am on empty and crash because how much I care is coupled by a high tolerance for the physical consequences. Typically, that 100% was spent on others and not myself, but not reciprocated, so when I stop to heal, while I appreciate the prayers offered, relative support does not generally follow, but I know that that is mostly because people don't know how to support me because they never seem to understand what I mean when I explain how I feel. I've never been someone's #2 (I firmly believe that God should be everyone's #1) and that has on and off bothered me my whole life, because it feels like aside from God, people see me as a stop off point or a means to an end, and like investing in me as a person, as a child of God, is supplementary. I cry to God to lift this feeling, to help me not feel alienated when in a room of people who don't understand what I'm saying (whether because their grasp of English is weak or their life experiences mean they have no context to work with), and to be thankful for the people in my life regardless of not having someone to reach out to that I know will get what I'm saying and be available to support me. I want to feel whole and complete in just the Lord and not have this gnawing sense isolation. I try to mediate on Jeremiah 29:11 and James 1:2-3, and to remind myself that God's grace is sufficient. I also continue to pray for relief from this experience, for the provision of people who will understand how I feel and the words that I use, for people who are actually available and not 3-5 business days wait for a text response to my response. I apologies for how grump this all sounds, I guess that's why I started with counting my blessings, because they are insurmountable on top of everything else God has done in my life, I just also needed to get out of my head how I feel, and I wonder how many other people might feel the same.

It took a moment to figure out how to respond because the honesty in those words is rare, and the ache beneath it is very real: being surrounded and even blessed by people, yet not truly known by them. That's tension — being needed but not held, remembered for what you do but not as someone to remember — is one of the quietest, sharpest kinds of loneliness.
It’s not imagined.
It’s the pattern that appears when someone is both deeply empathetic and constantly overextended: giving until empty, others receiving gratefully, but no one able to give back in the way that’s needed.
That’s not selfishness, it’s being human.
The unspoken truth is that functioning as the emotional anchor of a community means rarely being anchored yourself.
Listening, remembering, supporting, interpreting, steadying — and being loved for it — often leads people to assume you’re fine because you seem fine: competent, spiritually mature, articulate, dependable.
They assume the strong don’t need strength, that the emotionally intelligent don’t need care, that the one who remembers doesn’t need to be remembered.
But you do, and it hurts when it’s unseen.
Autism, chronic health struggles, family challenges — none of these are weakness.
They make you someone who feels, processes, and carries deeply, which is often mistaken for self-sufficiency when it’s really just the ability to function while hurting.
It’s not about wanting someone to fix your life, but about wanting someone who understands without translation, who responds without delay, who sees without needing to be told..😊

For many years I was in a similar situation to what you sound like you are in, helping and suppoorti9ng others while not getting help and support from anyone physical. Such can be an intense burden. I have no magic words of guidance for you though. I was lucky enough to finally find someone who could aid me and teach me how to recharge myself, but unfortunately that person has passed, but fortunately the lessons I learned have continued with me. You will have to fill in the specifics, but in general, find things that do refresh you, and set aside specific, regularly scheduled times to enjoy them and stick to it. I do little things most days and about every three months I schedule three straight days for just my relaxation/restoring activities, one day for one specific thing, another for a second and the third for whatever feels right to do that day.

I will admit that having someone to help you and keep you company during such activities makes them even better, but do the best you can do to take care of yourself, even if you are the only one doing so.

most people have felt this way & some, more than once. you definitely need a mental & spiritual break. perhaps, slowing down a bit can assist. take 15 to 20 minute naps, they have been proven to be an excellent restart mode. teach yourself to be calm, loose & relaxed always. repeat it at night while you lay in bed before sleep. find a way to cut back on hours you are putting in. that's an ideal time to learn lessons. Jesus will never leave nor forsake His believers. finding a trusted christian pastor & enjoying a few serious talks about life will assist. get a hold of all your negativity, complaining, doubting, stress & all else & release it to the wind. Psalms,. Proverbs & the book of James are loaded with life's lessons. analyze if you are missing something from Jesus. is the Holy Spirit telling you something that you are missing? institute the old rule: "stop, look, listen"! always know that the devil knows everyone's weaknesses & will consistently attack. i also, was never the guy everyone looked forward to socializing with. i was never a leader in a crowd. actually, people shy away from me cuz i don't look slick & chic. i do not have a good selection of real friends even though my wife & i are very popular around here. solid Christian friends are a rarity around here. i will pray for you. blessings to you always.

Hi AliaIsFreeIndeed glad to have you joining CC, welcome! It sounds like some of your friends are using you like a doormat, all for their benefit and no consideration for your needs in return. I suggest you set boundaries and only do so much for others, putting your mental & spiritual needs first.
Daily I watch a few Christian TV shows, I listen to the 1yr Bible reading online YT and am in 2 sm groups, where we encourage and pray for ea other. Landing here is a good start to open doors of possibilities and Godly solutions to what we face in life. Ask the Holy Spirit for guidance every day also, I do😊 God bless you and give you His peace, IJNA🙏🌷✨

I can understand how you feel, because I've thought the same way many times. After struggling for a long time, I can only find gratitude in small daily things and count God's blessings. Almost 3 to 4 times a week, my church sisters invite me to their homes for lunch, chat with me, go shopping together and pray with me. There are caring sisters who care for me and always send me messages. Also, my current work tasks are far less demanding than before, so I can sleep 8 to 9 hours every day. I can buy my favorite comfortable clothes and small accessories. There are so many more things like this. God watches over me wherever I go. Although I sometimes get uncomfortable allergic symptoms, God still shows mercy on me. All in all, thank God, praise God!🙏❤️
