Every denomination on earth has ended up in some form of so-called heresy by another group because man with an unrenewed mind is involved. We need to be open to the Holy Spirit for all things as He ( not an "it" as some say here in CC ) guides us. He is our Counsellor, Helper and Advocate.

I was once at Ellel with my mom. We had to laugh so hard. We couldn't stop. Those faces, they weren't used to that. We had to go out and laughed in the park.

I too have been in places where laughter was almost unstoppable.

Here is a scripture below that talks about being full of wine and having a merry heart. We have the new wine of the Holy Spirit in us now in the new covenant.

1 Samuel 25:36 (NASB)
[SUP]36 [/SUP] Then Abigail came to Nabal, and behold, he was holding a feast in his house, like the feast of a king. And Nabal's heart was merry within him, for he was very drunk; so she did not tell him anything at all until the morning light.

Proverbs 17:22 (KJV)
[SUP]22 [/SUP] A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones
.

There is a time for shouting for joy in the Lord too. I suppose that would offend religious people too though.

Psalm 32:11 (NASB)
[SUP]11 [/SUP] Be glad in the LORD and rejoice, you righteous ones; And shout for joy, all you who are upright in heart.

A DRUNKEN spirit is not the Holy Spirit. There's nothing in the bible that even hints that being filled with the Holy Spirit is like being drunk, that whole idea comes from heretics adding to the word of God.

Seriously. I'm never sure what is or isn't sober in the spirit.
Like is acting goofy, joking, is that not sober in the spirit? Or just even laughing at things? I don't get it. What are ways one is not sober in the spirit? I have a definition of calm and collected, temperate, dispassionate, circumspect.

IMO it is being realistic, or drinking the water of truth, maybe a glass of wine for thy stomach's sake but not the becoming drunk in the wine of the Gospel lest you wake up one morning and your packing mud to build Pharaoh's pyramid.

New wine as spoken of in the bible is non--alcoholic... it's found in the cluster on the Vine.

Isaiah 65:8 KJV
Thus saith the Lord , As the new wine is found in the cluster, and one saith, Destroy it not; for a blessing is in it: so will I do for my servants' sakes, that I may not destroy them all.

I disagree.
New wine as you describe in Isaiah is correct.
But new wine in Luke 5:36-39 has already started the fermenting process.
The new wine skin is needed as it continues to ferment, it needs to stretch.
Old wine skin is already stretched, so cannot stretch again.
Though this passage is a parable, it's teaching of new wine in wineskins is understood.

A few men in Jerusalem, because they couldn't figure out why the disciples were being openly loud, fell back to a familiar frame of reference (drunks are openly loud) and thought that the disciples were drinking wine.

And foolish people today take that and turn it into a religion.

They are not drunk as you suppose. Read acts 2 and you will see that to the unrenewed mind the disciples were "acting" as if they were drunk in the minds of the on-lookers. This may offend you but it's what scripture says.

I have heard many people speaking different languages and never once did I think they were drunk...I know this is the natural man's thinking to try to excuse the fact that the disciples looked to others like they were drunk even though they were not.

I know that there will always be excesses and people will do things in the flesh as well.

Sometimes when confronted with the power of God - stuff happens and that is recorded many times in the scriptures. Paul and John became like dead men and were knocked to the ground as well as all those men that came to arrest Jesus.

...but at any rate I'll leave you to your own beliefs. You have said that everyone has a different spirit then you because they weren't born again from reading the KJV of scripture when they came to Christ and you actually say those have a " different Christ " then you do because they were born-again from a different version of scripture and not the KJV.

When you have these kinds of beliefs - I have to avoid you as much as possible as you definitely are not sound and I dis-trust anything that you say. With that - this is my last time responding to you on this manner.

Ephesians 5:18 (NASB)

The new wine is grape juice when it goes into the bottle, and yes eventually it will ferment if the bottles worn out and aren't sealed properly. But if the bottles are new and sealed properly the new wine wont ferment and pressure wont build up in the bottle so both the bottles and the new wine are preserved.

Luke 5:37-38 KJV
And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish. [38] But new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved.

Bottles are earthen vessels and this treasure is hidden in earthen vessels... the wine skin translation kind of ruins the parable, it makes it harder to see the true meaning of the parable. The old bottles were Jews, the new bottles are the Gentiles.

I once spoke the same kind of all-knowing idiocy as these two sanctimonious jackasses. I also "knew" how the Holy Spirit acted, and it could only be the way I approved of.
So NOW you're the all-knowing, sanctimonious jackass? I see. Thanks for clearing that up. Good to know.

If I thought following Christ was selecting verses that way, I would give up the whole idea today. LOL
Pamella,
While you are making sure to cover all the vigilance and obedience to rules, keep in mind that Jesus said THIS is what He is looking for from us, soberly remembering others before our own positions and situations.

I saw a white-haired man, who's car was obviously broken down, sticking his thumb up at drivers as they drove past this Sunday afternoon. I was making a quick trip into town and on the way back (10 minutes or so), he was still there--so I stopped, asked what was up, and then, offered him a ride.

During the three mile ride to 'his sister's house', the old man told me about how he woke up at his sisters and didn't know how he got there--he was "so drunk last night". He even claimed he rolled his car (couldn't tell by looking at the car) and somehow came out without a scratch. He griped and complained for a bit about how many problems his drunkenness caused him last night--so I said: "Well, maybe you should slow down on the drinking." To which he replied: "I quit! 37 years ago... I don't do that anymore... slur.. slur..."

Anyway, he thanked me for the ride.

You sound so spiritual when you post scripture seemingly trying to appear MORE KNOWLEDGED. Give me a serious break dude! I have been under the HS and I was in a church where the whole congregation was under the HS. It was peaceful, joyous and ORDERLY. It wasnt people jumping all over the place, running to and fro and speaking a tongue that isnt God. There is an imitation brought to you by. the prince of lies himself! If you disagree then you are a foolish man
Yes I do know what I wrote pompous donkey! I said the enemy has an imitation. It is NOT AT ALL LIKE THE HOLY SPIRIT FALLING DOWN ON ME.
Im not one to believe anything is from the spirit. Its called discernment. Try it sometime old man
I cannot believe the foolish people on this site that would think everything they see is from God. Amazing and truly sad.

1timothy 4:1
Now the Spirit expressly states that in later times some will abandon the faith to follow deceitful spirits and the teachings of demons,

Matthew 18:7
Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to stumble! Such things must come, but woe to the person through whom they come!

Luke 17:1
Jesus said to his disciples: "Things that cause people to stumble are bound to come, but woe to anyone through whom they come.

Pamella?

Are you sorry you asked by now?

I'm sorry I read as much as I did.

I corrected that with "have seen" . Do you normally harrass and criticize new members?

Sorry, I believed what you wrote. Should we wait until the thread ends to search forward and back, comparing all posts to every other post made to see if each of us really meant what we posted previously?

You weren't being harassed. You were being taken at your word.

The only thing the bible tells us the men were doing was speaking in other tongues and the mockers saw that as evidence that they were drunk. You're taking that and claiming it to mean that people filled with the Holy Spirit act like druken fools.

And yes I think it's obvious that we have different spirits and different Christs in us. I mean the spirit in you leads you to believe that the Holy Spirit manifests itself as druken spirit in the believer. That spirit does not exist in me.

I hope he didn't have head trauma.
